My brother has a pacemake w/defibulator and was put on metoprolol surr er 50mg. He sleeps all afternoon, has fainted more than once, has excessive sweating sometimes, loss of coordination when walking down stairs, and severe dizziness after getting out of a car or laying down. He went to the emergency room, got every test and was pronounced healthy. I am taking him to see the nurse practitioner in 2 days because I was reading the precautions and it seems he has excessive side effects. I am really mad that the nurse practioner or doctors in the er did not connect his fainting with this drug. I am demanding they take him off of it. It has ruined his life. ## Well, unfortunately, most doctors and nurse practitioners are not aware of all the possible side effects and problems that any given...

The doctor recently took me off metoprolol because it was discovered that I have asthma. She replaced it with diltiazwm which caused my heart rate to increase to 133 and upped my blood pressure. Now I'm back on the metoprolol until I see my doctor again. Is there another medication for high blood pressure that you could recommend to replace metoprolol? I was also prescribed ventolin for the asthma. ## Hi, Lin! How long did you take the Diltiazem? Your blood pressure and heart rate normally would elevate for a few days, when you first switch from one medication to another. The 133 is rather high, but did you call your doctor about it. yet? Since the beta blockers can cause trouble with asthma, you are going to have to switch to something else, however, only your doctor can help you fi...

Dear all, I am so freaked out. My husband, age 41 had a widowmaker heart attack almost exactly a year ago... Jan 25, 2014. He had a drug eluting stent put in. He's been doing great all year, and in the last few weeks he's been experiencing shortness of breath again... No other symptoms. Just that. We went to his cardiologist this morning. He thinks that it may be the metroprolol he's been taking. May be reducing his bp too much and causing shortness of breath... Or maybe the cold weather.,he cut the metoprolol and said to wait a week and see if it goes away. If it doesn't he will need to do a stress diagnostic again. I'm so scared he has another blockage or restenosis.... The doc said restenosis usually has other symptoms too... Like feet swelling or chest pain etc.....

I would like to know what diet pills or aides I can take with metroprolol succerer. can I take adipex.the weight gain has been afful with this medicine ## Hello, Connie! How are you? If it's causing that much of a weight gain, you may be better off switching off of this, because regardless of what else you take to lose it, it's really not going to help much, as long as the root cause is still there. Have you consulted your doctor? You may do better with a medication that isn't known to cause as much weight gain. The FDA lists the other typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, stomach pain and hypotension.

After my Sinuplasty surgery 2 days ago I was given a scrip for 10 tabs of Percocet 5 -325 to be taken 1-2 every 4-6 hours as needed. I also have scrip for Ativan EQ .5mg. I was given several weeks ago for Metroprolol withdrawal that was causing my BP&pulse rate to go up. I was anxious because I knew my numbers were high.Today I am feeling very anxious and don't know if I should take Ativan. I have 2 tabs of Percocet remaining, is this a safe combo? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you doing? I am taking Metroprolol (minax 50) half a tablet twice a day and have been on them since having a stent in July 13. For the last few months I have been getting up every two hours to urinate through the night...Is this a side effect please? I am also on Clopidogrel 75, Alorvastating 80mg and 100 mg Aspirin a day. ## Hello, Suzanne! How are you? The Metoprolol can cause more frequent urination, but it's usually not that extreme. I am on 40mg of Lisinipril and 50 mg of metroprolol. BP was high so I went from 25 to 50 metroprolol. 50 making me feel dizzy and light headed. 25 was good. Doc say take every thing in the morning but I am wondering if I can take the extra 25mg of metroprolol in the pm before bed so I do not feel so bad during the day ## Normally, such side effects will wear off after a few weeks, after your body adjusts to the new dosage. However, if the symptoms are that problematic then splitting the dosages can be a good thing to do, but you should check with your doctor first to make sure it is okay for you to do so. Round blue pill w/C75 imprint. Supposed to be metroprolol from India according to label on bottle @ Walmart. Ckg on computer it says is amlopidine. Not real confident on this. Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you go. ## I have the exact same situation as the original poster. MY TABLETS WERE PINK, NOW THEY'ER WHITE ## Hello, Yes Metroprolol comes in a variety of apperances, including pink, blue, and white colors. The white ones are probably Torprol XL, branded versions of this drug. Can you post the strength of the pills as well as any imprints which appear on them? That way someone could most likely reply with the exact dosage. Linds ## I have been taking Metoprolol ER 100MG Tab Wat and it is a white round tablet with the number 832 on the back. I've been on 25mg, Extended Release, of Metroprolol Succinate for a while, about four or five years I think - never on a higher dosage. It was prescribed for hypertension, along with Diltiazem and Hydrochlorothiazide. The doctor took me off of the Diltiazem about a year ago, so now it's just been the Hydro and Metoprolol. I've lost 60 pounds in the last year, and my heart rate was very low when I saw the doctor on Friday, so he said to discontinue the Metoprolol. I asked him if I should wean off of them, and he said no, it was perfectly OK to stop them cold turkey. I told him that when I had run out of pills a few months back for about three days, my heart started racing and beating erratically. He still said it was OK to just stop them. I've been Googling this, and can ...

I am taking multiple medicines for my hypertension. 10mg lisinopril, 50 mg Metroprolol XR and Chlorthalidone 25 mg. In the afternoons, I get very dizzy, have mild chest pain and I have spaced the doses out to determine that it is the Chlorthalidone that is the cause. My cholesterol has also shot up after taking Metroprolol & Chlorthalidone for 4 months. My doctor says it is fine to just stop the Chlorthalidone but I am worried about rebounding edema. I am a 54 year old female. I'm thinking maybe it would be better to wean by skipping one day, then 2 days, then 3 days until I see how I react since this medicine remains in your system so long. Help! I had the sensations in my heart "getting" on this medicine but my doctor told me it was normal. ## Hello, Anita! How are you...

Is Metoprolol Tartrate 25 mg tab drug ID white round with M 18 the same as Metroprolol tartrate 25 mg white round tab /1 the same medicine? One pill is twice as big as the other and I don't understand how they could be the same? ## Yes, it is also 25mgs of Metoprolol, a generic for Lopressor. The reason it is larger is more than likely just due to the types of fillers that manufacturer uses, they do have a wide variety they can pick from and they will affect the size of the tablets. Some of the most common side effects of this medication include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and diarrhea. I've have been prescribed Cardizem CD 240 mg once a day for BP - the generic name is (Diltiazem CD). I was taking metroprolol 50 mg twice a day for about 18 months and was experiencing hair loss so the doctor moved me to Cardizem CD.
