Will Metronidazole 500 mg help my boyfriend if he has a UTI ??? We have not been with anyone else so we know it is not a venereal disease, but do not know what it is and they want $450.00 co-pay at the hospital. In other words will the Metronidazole 500 mg take it away if it is a UTI???? ## Hello, Nicole! How is your boyfriend doing? If he is showing symptoms, he needs to see a doctor. It isn't good, nor safe to try to diagnose and treat it yourselves. Metronidazole might not be the right medication to treat his problem. If he goes to the ER, they cannot demand the copay upfront, they have to see him and send him a bill, at a later time. Rather than put his life at risk, that would be the best thing to do, if you don't have a regular doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

My brother has a pacemake w/defibulator and was put on metoprolol surr er 50mg. He sleeps all afternoon, has fainted more than once, has excessive sweating sometimes, loss of coordination when walking down stairs, and severe dizziness after getting out of a car or laying down. He went to the emergency room, got every test and was pronounced healthy. I am taking him to see the nurse practitioner in 2 days because I was reading the precautions and it seems he has excessive side effects. I am really mad that the nurse practioner or doctors in the er did not connect his fainting with this drug. I am demanding they take him off of it. I have some left over metronidazole from when I was being treated for H Pylori. For some reason I always get a UTI if I forget to pee immediately after intercourse. I've had a least four UTI's so I'm almost certain that's what it is. Would this medication treat it? I really need some relief. My insurance isn't great and I can't afford to go to the emergency room for something minor and I'm sure it would be frowned upon if I went to the ER with a non-life threatening condition. ## Hello, Alice! I was taking metronidazole for a week, 3 pills a day 500 mg I believe for an infection or whatever it was in my stomach. I was in the ER and had a catscan with that barium liquid. They saw I had a hiatal hernia and swollen lymph nodes in my stomach. I've been off the metronidazole for about 2 days now and I still feel weird, mainly coughing, white stuff on tongue and spider like veins in my mouth. I also had diarrhea today which was why I started it in first place. So I'm very worried that maybe whatever I was treating came back or is it still side effects of the medication? I was hospitalized for 3 days (Aug. 28th-31st) due to gastro/diarrhea. In the hospital the doctor gave me the following: 1. Seven vials of Erceflora 2. Three (100ml) vials of Levofloxacin 500mg 3. Four tabs of (40mg) Omeprazole. Because I felt itchiness on Levofloxacin, the doctor gave me 2 (500mg) tabs of Metronidazole. For home medication the doctor prescripted the following: 1. Metronidazole - 3x5 days = 15 2. Omeprazole - 1x5 days = 5 3. Erceflora - 3x3 days = 9 I feel dizzy, sometimes vomiting. I don't feel normal just yet. I already consumed the following take-home medications: 1. Metronidazole - 10 (5 left) 2. Omeprazole - 3 (2 left) 3. Erceflora - 5 (4 left) Can I stop or discontinue taking the medicine? Please help!
