I switched pharmacies and the pills look different - it didn't concern me, and research says they are the same thing. However, I FEEL different. My heart starts racing, then returns to normal, and I have tremendous pressure in my head. Pharmacy A uses round white pill w/ M 100 on one side, scored on othe. Pharmacy B is round white with M 3 on it, and a score between the characters, blank on other side. B is the one I am struggling with. Would there be a difference in how I feel? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Yes, they are both 100mg Metoprolol tables, they're just manufactured by different companies. However, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, there can be slight differences in the amount of the active ingredient in generics, so this new one may be a little stronger than the on...

I'm so tired... have been taking it for 1 month and getting more tired each day. Is this a side effect? ## Have you consulted your doctor? These can be normal side effects, but they should start to taper off after about 4 to 6 weeks of use. Have you been checking your blood pressure? How have the readings been? ## I have been on metoprolol for about 8 yrs if not more. I did not realize that I've been skipping taking the pill regularly due to my mother passing away and also started taking viibryd a month and half ago. Out of nowhere I started to feel racing heart beats, labored breathing, stiff & swollen fingers, blurred vision, very angry, very very sleepy and more depressed. I thought it was the viibryd which I spoke to my doctor about who wants me to wean off the viibryd n...

After Angioplasty, I was advised to take METLOC ER-25 ("metoprolol succinate er 25") - one daily in the morning. Now, they are going to conduct MPI (Stress test) in a day or two. Doctor advised me stop taking this "metoprolol succinate er 25" - 72 hrs before the stress test. Because of that I am feeling (a) slight headache (b) pain in chest (c) giddyness - at times. Is it OK? This is second day (after stopping the tablet). ## Balu just checking other postings on Metoprolol. It has been way over a year since your post. Wondering how the test went for you!! I cannot believe you were told to stop taking it without some weaning off it! It can have bad rebounds with blood pressure to say the least! I follow another thread here v on the same drug.

It was manufactured by Par. I recently moved and had to refill my prescription and I got it at CVS which only has Ethex generic Metoprolol XL 25. When I got the pills, I called CVS because they were a different shape (round instead of oval and much bigger) and all they said to me was that is was because they were made by a different manufacturer. I was prescribed this medicine back in december. I have been taking it faithfully. I am a 46 yr old woman with no prior heart problems. I was placed on this medication for hypertension. But, I now have an added problem, menopause... I am wondering what if anything I can take that won't cause more problems than I already have? Herbal ? ## Hi Jaclyn, Although I'm not a doctor, I would probably suggest leaning towards a more natural approach if you don't want to worry about having quite as many side effects. I would like to know why I have this drug metoprolol succinate ER 25 if it was recalled. Is it now considerred safe? Has the lawsuit been heard yet? I want off of this stuff and am so ticked that my doctor not only put me on it but never explained any symtoms, or how it should be taken. Where does responsibility begin with a Doctor today? ## A doctor is not a pharmacist and does not have the same schooling. Most doctors prescribe medications according to safety and efficacy, they usually know very little about the side effects or any other information on it. That said, the recall ONLY affected tablets manufactured by one company, not ALL! Since it is a generic medication, it is made by several different companies. As to how to take it, you should follow the instructions provided by your...

my blood pressure used to be 150/90 or 140/90. The doctor prescribed me Telmisartan BP 40mg & Metoprolol Succinate USP 25 mg about 3 months back. RUN AWAY! Or have your doctor change your prescription. I took Dr. Reddy's metoprolol because my new insurance wouldn't pay for the brand I had been taking for 5 years. 6 weeks of waking up everyday with red and swollen feet, achy left pectoral region, a 2x increase in my dress size, and a voracious appetite made me stop my use of it and pay out of pocket for the brand. Within 3 days of being on my old medication, Toprol XL , I was feeling like myself again. ## Hello, Stevie! How are you doing? Why do doctors online and offline pretend that Metropolol does NOT cause hair loss, when there are patients online and right in front of offline doctors complaining that this beta blocker is making them lose their hair!? Instead of being honest, they blame the patient's genetics or make out like it's some other cause--stress, maybe, or diet, blah-blah. Metoprolol causes the hair to fall out and it doesn't take a long time on that drug, either. Just a couple months, and some of us are near bald. Time for honesty about this, and also WHY AREN'T THEY DEVELOPING A HEART MED THAT DOES NOT CAUSE HAIR LOSS???? ## How long does it take for the Metoprolol to leave the body after you stop taking it? and how long does it take to get your hair back? ## Well that sucks.
