However, this is the time released formulation, so there should not be a problem. The FDA patient advisory leaflet lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is ...

I am on 25 mg of Metoprolol divided in half morning and evening. I don't have high blood pressure, yet I'm always very short of breath. I don't want to take them anymore. ## This is a blood pressure medication. Why are you taking it? ## It is a very small dose if I understand what you are saying. You take 25mg in total per day, divided into 12.5mg in the morning and night? It is unclear as to the reason you are taking them for as you have not provided enough detail as to your condition. They may be to control high blood pressure, angina, abnormal heart rhythms, palpitations..quite a large list. If you do not want to continue taking them, discuss this with your doctor. Don't just stop taking medicine, ask him to explain why you are being prescribed them. ## i had heart st...

Been taking metoprolol 25mg tartrate twice daily and by the time I go to bed and fall asleep by bloodpressure spikes during the night. Don't know if the meds have worn off during the night or if I should be taking another pill before bed. Tried to get a hold of my doctor but he is out on vacation. Does any one else have this same problem. I can tell my bp was high cause when I wake in the morning my eyes are blood shot. ## High blood pressure only rarely causes blood shot eyes, it is especially doubtful if it only happens when you are sleeping and goes away. There are a ton of other causes, however, including disrupted sleep. You shouldn't change this medication, without consulting with your doctor, because too much of it can cause unsafe drops in your blood pressure. Have you c...

Is the best time to take this medicine in the morning or night? ## Has your doctor made any specific recommendation? Metoprolol is a beta blocker, used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions and, in most cases, this type of medication is taken in the morning, because most people are far more active during the day, so that is the time their blood pressure can be elevated. However, it can cause some drowsiness and dizziness, in some people, as a side effect, and in those instances, it may be necessary for someone to take it at night. ## I am taking Lisinopril @20mg and also i am taking Metoprolol tart 25mg tab myl, my question is why do i take two High bloodpressure pills? My husband takes 12.5 mg metoprolol in the morning and his lisinopril 2.5 at night. His cardiologist said to take 12.5 metoprolol in the am and another 12.5 in the pm. Our question is can the two medications together cause his no to get too low? He was put on the lisinopril to thin his blood since he is diabetic. Is it normal to be on both if there is no heart condition? ## Neither of these medications are blood thinners. What condition does he have that requires him to see a cardiologist? Medications in this class are sometimes given to diabetics to help protect kidney function, according to the NIH. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and hypotension. Does your husband have high blood pressure?

best way to take metoprolol 150. The Dr. said to take in morning and night. Don' remember how much to take . ## Hello, Ellen! How are you? What are the directions on the prescription label? If they aren't on there, your pharmacy should have record of them. If the doctor prescribed 150mgs twice a day, then that is how much you should take. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension.

I have been on Metoprolol by Parr for 5 years. I recently moved and had to fill my prescription at CVS. It was a different shaped pill so I called them. All they said that it was made by Ethex instead of by Parr and that it was the same pill that I was taking. HOWEVER, after taking 3 pills, I got up in the middle of the night, got out of bed and fainted. I called CVS the following morning and they said that it definitely could be the Ethex manufacturer because it has different fillers than the one made by Parr. My blood pressure was 90 over 60. I then went onto the Internet and saw that some of the pharmacies have taken Ethex drugs off their shelves. They weren't removed by the FDA. Metoprolol was one of the drugs. Why in heavens name didn't anyone contact the FDA to tell them t...

On Oct 16th 2016 I got my normal Metformin 90 day supply. I was feeling (over the next 2 months) like an elephant was on my chest & couldn't walk more than 15-to 20 ft without feeling as though I was going to black out. On Dec. 30th eve I noticed my dose was scored, not Metformin. That's when I caught it! Never had High Blood Pressure & am 54. I normally fill 2 weeks at a time (pill containers) & nightly a week. I take 2 in the a.m. & 2 at night. So they were mixed in & not knowing what or how many - all unknown. But when I caught it, it was 2 Metoprolol 100 ER! So looking at the rest of that week & 2 nights, 2 to 3 out of 4 mornings, I had 1 with Metformin. The next a.m dose #31 I almost took 2 more Metoprolol 100 mg Er! I am totally disgusted! I have no...

I could not sleep the last two nights and wonder if there is a sleep aid safe to take with the metoprolol er succinate that I have been taking in the morning and evening, 25 mg pills. Been taking these b/p pills for months now. ## Hello, Peg! How are you? The main problem with them is that most sleep aids, such as Tylenol PM, Unisom and etc. use antihistamines, which may not always be safe for someone that has high blood pressure, because they can cause further elevations, according to the FDA. Thus, you should not take them, unless your doctor specifies that it is safe for you to do so. There may also be an issue if someone is overweight, since they may cause more weight gain. I have high blood pressure, as well, and suffered full congestive heart failure several years ago, and given t...
