I've taken metoprolol Succ Tb 100Mg ER for a few year from Mylan. Now I'm taking the same from PAR. I've started getting a lot of palpitation. Could this by the reason? ## Hello, Evelyn! How are you? It is difficult to say, there can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another and adjusting to a slightly different dosage could result in your experiencing palpitations. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, increased urination and headache. However, it would be best to have yourself checked out by your doctor to be sure of what's going on. Is there anything else I can help with?

My daughter has a pacemaker due to electrical problems with her heart from the Mustard Procedure for Transposition of the Great Arteries. She is 24 and has had the PaceMaker fo 2 years. Within the last few months she had 1 life threatening low heart rate. Will metoprolol success er help prevent the low rate. If she continues to have low rate may need to put in a defribilator. ## Hello, Clide! How are you and your daughter? It's actually succinate, not success, but anyway, it could actually cause her heart rate to go low, so it's kind of iffy. These beta blockers can sometimes cause low heart rate as a side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. Has it been prescribed for her? She might do better with something that just helps with overall heart function...

oblong tablet, G282 imprint on back, scored on front to break in half ## I could not find anything with that marking in the US prescription drug database listings, however, Metoprolol is the generic for Lopressor or Toprol, the ER stands for extended release. This is used to lower blood pressure and reduce the work load on your heart. ## I got the generic equivalent to Toprol XL 50 mg tablet used for high blood pressure treatment. I wanted to double check prior to taking the medication. My METOPROLOL ER 50 MG tablets also are an oblong tablet, G282 imprint on back, scored on front to break in half. I switched pharmacies and the pills look different - it didn't concern me, and research says they are the same thing. However, I FEEL different. My heart starts racing, then returns to normal, and I have tremendous pressure in my head. Pharmacy A uses round white pill w/ M 100 on one side, scored on othe. Pharmacy B is round white with M 3 on it, and a score between the characters, blank on other side. B is the one I am struggling with. Would there be a difference in how I feel? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Yes, they are both 100mg Metoprolol tables, they're just manufactured by different companies. However, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, there can be slight differences in the amount of the active ingredient in generics, so this new one may be a little stronger than the on...

I have been on Metoprolol ER TAB SUC 50 mg (75 mg in morning and 75 mg in evening) for a long time. These were round white pills with"M50" on one side and a score line on the other side. I understand the "ER" stands for Extended Release. When my prescription ran out, I contacted the pharmacy for a refill. Instead of sending me the same medication, they sent me a 3-month supply of Metoprolol TAB TAR 50 mg. These are round pink pills, a little smaller than the white pills. On one side they have a score line with "93" above the score line and "733" below the score line. The other side is plain, with no markings at all. Are these smaller pink TAB TAR pills the same as the ER TAB SUC pills? And are the TAB TAR pills Extended Release? I wanted to stay on the Ex...

I took Metoprolol tartrate tabs 50 mg,mfg by greenstone, is this the same drug? ## The 25mg would be a lower dosage and the ER designates the 25mg one as being a time released formulation. Metoprolol is a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, Did your doctor make this change in the dosing and formulation? Such changes shouldn't be made, without your doctor's approval, because sudden changes to the dosing of this medication may cause rebound effects, which could include elevated heart rate and blood pressure.

I have been taking metoprolol 50mg twice a day. My new prescription is for metoprolol ER 50 mg once a day. Are they the same dosage or is this a reduced amount?? ## Which is the dosage you are asking about? You say 100mgs in the post title, but 50mgs in the post itself. Obviously going from 50mgs twice a day to 50mgs once a day would be a dosage adjustment, but the ER is an extended release formulation to try to enable you to get better blood pressure or cardiac control.

After Angioplasty, I was advised to take METLOC ER-25 ("metoprolol succinate er 25") - one daily in the morning. Now, they are going to conduct MPI (Stress test) in a day or two. Doctor advised me stop taking this "metoprolol succinate er 25" - 72 hrs before the stress test. Because of that I am feeling (a) slight headache (b) pain in chest (c) giddyness - at times. Is it OK? This is second day (after stopping the tablet). ## Balu just checking other postings on Metoprolol. It has been way over a year since your post. Wondering how the test went for you!! I cannot believe you were told to stop taking it without some weaning off it! It can have bad rebounds with blood pressure to say the least! I follow another thread here v on the same drug.

Dr. Reddy's metoprolol succ er. RUN AWAY! Or have your doctor change your prescription. I took Dr. Reddy's metoprolol because my new insurance wouldn't pay for the brand I had been taking for 5 years. 6 weeks of waking up everyday with red and swollen feet, achy left pectoral region, a 2x increase in my dress size, and a voracious appetite made me stop my use of it and pay out of pocket for the brand. Within 3 days of being on my old medication, Toprol XL , I was feeling like myself again. ## Hi stevie, Sorry to hear about your experience with Dr Reddy's. However I'm glad to hear that you were able to get back on the Toprol XL again. What's interesting to me is that there's no real way of knowing ahead of time how you're going to react/respond to other br...

I originally had a skipping heart beat which was tested and I was found to have no heart disease. Doctor put me on Metopropol succ er 25 mg tablets once a day to lower blood pressure. I had been taking for about eight(8) months with daily periods of skipping heart beat. My pulse rate had dropped from 74 to 64 times a minute and blood pressure was probably 122/72. When I got the last months supplies of tablets they had what looks like w/b on one side. I do not know what was on previous tablets. All of a sudden my heart is not skipping a beat anymore. Is it possible that the result is due to a change in manufacturer of the pill or is it possibly just a chance occurence? I have also cut back on drinking wine and caffein use. Thank you. ## Is that the complete markings on them? Can you plea...

I was prescribed this medicine back in december. I have been taking it faithfully. I am a 46 yr old woman with no prior heart problems. I was placed on this medication for hypertension. I take 1 pill daily at night only. I have alot of the common side effects ie: fatigue, diaharrea, chills, night sweats, yellowing eyes, hair loss and mental and mood changes. But, I now have an added problem, menopause... I am wondering what if anything I can take that won't cause more problems than I already have? Herbal ? ## Hi Jaclyn, Although I'm not a doctor, I would probably suggest leaning towards a more natural approach if you don't want to worry about having quite as many side effects. Have you considered looking into Essential Oils for menopause symptoms? One that comes to mind is C...

what is metoprolo succ er 25 mg tapar used for? ## Well, first of all, let me state the the TAPAR just stands for tablet, made by the PARR pharmaceutical company, so that has nothing to do with the drug name or use of the medication. Metoprolol CR is a generic for Toprol XL, it is used to treat several different cardiovascular diseases, including: high blood pressure, coronary heart disease and Long QT Syndrome. Some of the most common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and diarrhea. You can read more about this medication here: Is there anything else I can help you with?
