I have been on Metoprolol by Parr for 5 years. I recently moved and had to fill my prescription at CVS. It was a different shaped pill so I called them. All they said that it was made by Ethex instead of by Parr and that it was the same pill that I was taking. HOWEVER, after taking 3 pills, I got up in the middle of the night, got out of bed and fainted. I called CVS the following morning and they said that it definitely could be the Ethex manufacturer because it has different fillers than the one made by Parr. My blood pressure was 90 over 60. I then went onto the Internet and saw that some of the pharmacies have taken Ethex drugs off their shelves. They weren't removed by the FDA. Metoprolol was one of the drugs. I have been taking metropolol 25 mg 2x/day for years. My tablet has been oval shaped with what looks like an "m" then a center score and a script looking "B" under that when the pill is held upright. My latest refill is round with "M 18" and the other side is center scored. Are these the identically same medices? It is so difficult with so many generic medicnes being white tablets. I was on metoprolol tapar then the pharmacy sent different pill. They sent metoprolol taeth. When I called they said that pill was no longer available and they were the same. Now months later they sent me tapar again with a little sticker attached saying it is the same pill just different shape. Please tell me is there a difference and if one is generic? Hi, I am a 56 year old male in fairly good shape, prob 20 lbs overweight. I've been walking and biking lately trying to get healthier... i had bp slowly creeping up over the years..finally doc convinced me to start 25 mg Metoprolol er about 4 years ago ...didnt help bp...he said Metoprolol is not the best bp med but i was a bit anxious. he thought it would help both things. bp still 2 high so he changed to 50 mg about 3 years ago. bp even worse...doc retired. went to new doc 2 years ago he added 20 mg lisinopril and bp perfect ever since. now here is the twist...well on just Metoprolol i was having racing heart...for ex wake up from nightmare heart racing FAST...have to pace about for like 20 min....drink soda, finally burp and heart back to normal...i was always taking pulse always...
