After switching from Metoprolol 25 mg by Mylan to Metoprol Tar 25 mg by Caraco palpitations & tachycardia have returned to an extent, after only a week. Can there by that much difference? ## There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic manufacturer to another, so there is a chance that there is enough difference in the dosage to cause you to experience such symptoms. can you take nyquil if you are on metoprol tar 25 mg ## If you are taking the Metoprolol to treat high blood pressure and/or a cardiac condition, I'd advise proceeding with caution. Thus, you should check with your doctor first, to see which one is safe for you to use. Are you on any other medications?

Can I dring a glass of wine while taking metoprolol. One 25grm twice a day ## Hello, Janette! How are you? I am experiencing symptoms similar to those on a bad smog day. I smell what seems to be strong exhaust; my eyes burn/tear, my throat gets scratchy, and my lungs feel irritated. I took my car into the shop and there is no exhaust leak. I notice the smell at first in my car but can now sometimes experience the odor in my home. I started this medication at about the same time the symptoms began...seems like there could be a connection... ## The possible number of side effects of this drug appear to be worse than what you may be trying to treat! I could write a short essay by pasting the side effects of this drug on a paper. Although none of the side effects directly state what you are experiencing, I am more than certain that this medication is the cause. Possibly another side effect liste...

United Healthcare is raising the copay on this ptescription and recommending Metoprolol tartrate, . arvedilol or atenolol. Titled subject is $45 in 2012 vice $3. for alternatives. Are the alternatives safe, same side-effect, and would my doctor have to change the prescription with my supplier? ## Yes, they all pretty much have the possibility of causing the same side effects. However, the Carvedilol is known to cause them far less often than the other options you mentioned. And yes, your doctor would have to give you a new prescription, because a pharmacy can't just change it, without their approval. Here are more details on these medications: Are there any other questions or comments?

I take a pill twice a day. Is each pill 50 mg, or combined they equal 50mg? ## Hi Connie, What is the imprint on the pills that you take? There are 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg pills available. Based on your description I can only assume that they are 50mg, but would need to look up the imprint for verification. If you are taking this medication for high blood pressure, the usual dosage for metoprolol is extremely patient specific and should be individualized. The typical initial dosage of metoprolol is 100 mg daily in a single or divided dose as determined by your health care provider. The dose may then be increased weekly until the goal blood pressure is achieved. The dosage range for metoprolol is 100-450 mg per day. You should consult with your doctor to determine which dose of metoprolol ...

I took Metoprolol tartrate tabs 50 mg,mfg by greenstone, is this the same drug? ## The 25mg would be a lower dosage and the ER designates the 25mg one as being a time released formulation. Metoprolol is a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions, Did your doctor make this change in the dosing and formulation? Such changes shouldn't be made, without your doctor's approval, because sudden changes to the dosing of this medication may cause rebound effects, which could include elevated heart rate and blood pressure.

I have been taking metropolol 25 mg 2x/day for years. My tablet has been oval shaped with what looks like an "m" then a center score and a script looking "B" under that when the pill is held upright. My latest refill is round with "M 18" and the other side is center scored. Are these the identically same medices? It is so difficult with so many generic medicnes being white tablets. It is scary wondering if you get the same medicines. ## Hello, Diana! How are you? Sorry about the confusion and yes, you're right, it can be quite confusing. But yes, the tablet with the M 18 marking on it does contain 25mgs of Metoprolol, which is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and some cardiac conditions. I have been taking metoprol for about 9 months. Ever since I started on this drug my toes at night tingle, feel numb, and when I get up to use the bathroom, my toes look blueish purple. I told the cardiologist, and he said, I could have the choice of tingly, blue toes, or have the pvc's. I am on 25 mg, twice per day. ## Hi, Carrol! Sorry about the problem that you're having. Issues like that are typical of beta blocker medications. However, I really don't like when doctors say that type of thing to people, it makes it seem like this is the only medication you can try to treat your PVCs and that is not true. While there is a chance that another one may cause the same thing, there is also a chance that it won't, so they are usually worth trying, unless there is some specif...

I was put on metoprolol about 3 weeks ago for hypertension and an ascending aortic aneurysm. I also have PVCs. I take 25 MG every 12 hours. My BP is better but not great. Some readings are normal and most are high (130/90-5 range) I have noticed more heart palpitations since taking it instead of less. I am having intermittent episodes of chest tightness and breathing being more labored. Also have a cough. Feels like a mild asthma attack. In the past, I would get exertional asthma with heavy exercise or laughing. My sleep is worse for waking up with a cough, palpitations, anxiety, or chest heaviness. I also have been hoarse and have a tickle in the back of my throat (postnasal drip?) Are these typical side effects? Do they warrant a reduction in my dosage? I see my cardiologist on Monday...

I take 25 mg of Metoprolol Tartrate in the am and 50 mg at 6:00pm and have been on this drug for years - previously was on Lisinopril and doing fine - just diagnosed with mild left concentric ventricular hypertrophy on Echo - how serious is this ? Also now have orthostatic hypotension when I stand up - can’t even get cardiologist on the phone and NP or Med aide call back with no help! ## Mild left concentric ventricular hypertrophy translates to enlargement and thickening of the walls of your hearts main pumping chamber, it can develop in response to several medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart failure, and other heart conditions, basically anything that causes your left ventricle to work harder than normal. After all, the heart is a muscle, so if it works more/h...

Side affects. Of losartan-hctz 100-25 mg tab metoprolol. Tartrate 5pmg and adipex. 37.5 mg ## Hello, Anna! How are you? If you're taking it for high blood pressure, you might not be able to take Adipex, because it is a stimulant that can cause elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which may put you in danger. It can also cause other side effects, such as nervousness, insomnia, dizziness, headache, irritability and carries the risk of being habit forming. There are no interactions or problems listed between these two medications, that I can find, but I strongly urge you to check with your doctor, before taking the Adipex to make sure that it is safe for you to do so.
