Metoprol Tar 100 Mg

I have white coat and anxiety. My doctor has had me on Metoprolol 100mg succinate once a day and just switched me to 100mg tartrate twice a day since my BP was high in his office. Is this dangerous or the dosage too high? Seems like a high dosage. ## Hello, Kera! How are you? What are your bp levels at other times? If it's really only high, when you're in the doctor's office, a medication isn't necessary. Even an ER won't treat for that, they will only do so if levels are dangerously elevated. Metoprolol Tar (Tartrate) is an immediate release medication. Would you happen to know if these two drugs are coming from different manufacturers? I have had high blood pressure for quite some time. I was diagnosed with an irregular heart beat also.I was taking lisinopral 20mg 2 times daily. I have been taking metoprolol tar 25 mg twice a day for years. I have had 2 open heart surgeries 10 yrs apart, diagnosis coronary artery disease and hypertension. Also take lopressure 10 mg daily and imdur 120mg twice daily for angina. My Bp skyrocketed to 210 over 108 about 3 weeks ago was admitted to hospital to bring it down. Dr added added losartan 100mg daily upon discharge. Bp is better but still running high. Had Dr apt today and was told to increase metoprolol from 25mg twice a day to 50mg twice a day. What should I do? I took 2 metoprolol 50mg but my dose is 1. My other meds are white and looked alike. ## It is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. This is supposed to be Metoprolo but the previous ones were longish and white while these are round and blue. There are no interactions or problems listed between these two medications, that I can find, but I strongly urge you to check with your doctor, before taking the Adipex to make sure that it is safe for you to do so. I believe metropolol is simply a common mistake made when searching for it. There may be a metropolol outside of US drug databases, but as far my research goes I haven't found it.

I have been taking 50 mg twice a day of metoprolol tartrate since May. Doc wants to double the dose all at once...200 mg a day because BP was elevated a little (from a panic attack, I believe). So the 50 mg scored pills were a pink pill. The 100 mg pills are blue scored pills. If I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, is cutting the scored 100 mg tablet the same as two 50 mg tablets? I do have panic/anxiety disorder and med phobia..thats why I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, especially because of the side effects I had when I started the 50 mg tablets...i.e., anxiety, nervouness, dizziness. metoprolol ## Good question. Do you happen to know what the strength of the pill is, as well as the manufacturer? There are several possible appearances for this pill. For example: Metoprolol manufactured by AstraZeneca comes in 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg dosages... All of those are White. But Mylan Pharmaceuticals manufactures METOPROLOL TARTRATE in 50 mg (which is Pinkish Red with M over 32 on it), and 100 mg (which is a lighter Blue with M over 47 on it).
