Methotrexate Side Effects

I have been on Methotrexate and folic acid for 3 weeks. Started with three 2.5 mg tablets of MTX for two weeks, then up to 6 tablets this week. The first week, I had terrible stomach pains, the second week I had bad fatigue. After taking my 6 pills on Friday, the side effects have been bad: nausea, no vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, back and right side pain and a rash. I finally reached the doctor on call in my practice (Memorial Day), and his comment was that it didn't look like I could take 6. I have been taking Xarelto approx. one month for AFib. Taking this drug terrifies me! I also have a bad case of psoriasis. My dermatologist prescribed many different creams over time but they didn't help at all. Last week he suggested methotrexate but said I would need blood work including a TB blood evaluation. I've been diagnosed with RA. Been on methotrexate about a year then started getting skin problems, always at dermatologist. Then last thing I just discovered was on my vulva area a white spot it attacks soft tissue. Came to find out its squamous cell carcinoma... surgically removed thank God. Now my rheumatologist wants me to start on methotrexate again and could happen again. Lord help, everything else has same effects if not worse. What to do? The day after I take my 6 2.5mg methotrexate tablets I always have enough stomach upset to make me spend an hour or so doing absolutely nothing but sit still. Are there any suggestions about what foods might help counteract this reaction? As a Fumaderm user of over 2 years I hope this message helps . Having suffered from psoriasis (severe) for over 35 years and having tried all types of creams, light treatments , cyclosporin and methotrexate I've found Fumaderm to be the most effective treatment yet . Obviously this treatment won't suit everyone but in my case it has almost completely eradicated the problem and allowed me to live a normal life again . The side effects for me were stomach cramps , hot flushes coupled with red face and stinging facial skin and eyelids . All of these died down over time with just an occasional hiccup . Can you take coedine cough syrup while taking Methotrexate ## Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between Codeine and Methotrexate. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. With that said, (because I am not a doctor) the most I can tell you is that from what I've read, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. I have had severe Arthritis, for along time. I hurt in all my joints all the time badly. I also have High Bloodpressure, one hip replaced and one knee raplacement. Arthritis is in my family.
