Have been on methadone 6 years and in full withdraw and no places where I live at now in KY ! Please help! ## Hi heather, In order to be of better help, I would need to know if you are you looking for a methadone doctor/clinic to prescribe you more methadone or if you are looking for a pharmacy to fill your methadone prescription? If you are able to post back with these details, including your zip code, I can help locate information pertaining to your general area. I hope this helps! ## David thank you for replying. I live in Crab Orchard 40419 and I'm looking for a doctor that will prescribe methadone. I was put on methadone for pain when in Indiana but had to move here and I have seen 4 doctors that laugh at me for ever being put on methadone. I'm not only in the worst pain ev...

Just wondered if anybody has any experience of coming off 30ml of methadone and how long it took them really.Ive cut down over a year from 60ml to 30ml but am getting impatient and hoped I could get some idea of how much longer Ide be taking it for.Any input much appreciated, Thanks Nasa. ## the slower you taper the better off you'll be. I have been told by countless people and the methadone watchdog forums that 30mgs in 1 year is a realistic goal. anything else and if you can actually make it through the physical withdrawls, the opiate receptor and endorphin depletion is what almost all but 10% can't make it through. Its called basically the blahs.. but BAD nothing makes you smile or happy or feel like doing anything and it can last anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 years depending on...

Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've been through, but also congratulate you on sticking it out and becoming clean. Your post is very much appreciated, because many people do seem to see Methadone as a miracle drug, but they ...

Hi, I live in Salem, Oregon. Ive been on methadone for about 9 years now. recently my medication got seriously wet. Ill be 4 days short now on my meds because my new doctor is new and won't do an early refill. Ive withdrawn once in the past. Im really scared. Is there a way to lesson the withdrawals. Id like to not have to go through it at all ## Hello, Ellen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. In the future, please store your medications in a location where they can't get wet. Most doctors, even if you aren't new to seeing them, will not provide an early refill. Their prescribing practices are very closely monitored by the government. Did you ask them about possibly cutting the tablets to lower your dosage for a few days? That might he...

Please help. My doctor had me on percoset 10/325 4 times a day. That was for over a year. Well I found out I was pregnant and the doctors promised me it was ok for me to take them. Well I started not taking as many cause I wanted to stop for my baby. I started getting sick and at first had no clue why. The doctor told me I was going thru withdrawel and I couldn't stop taking the meds while I was pregnant cause it could hurt me and the baby. Long story short they recommended me start methadone while I was pregnant. Well my baby was five weeks early they said more than likely it had nothing to do with the methadone. He was fine at first. He weighed 5 pds 6 oz. After a few days the nurses said he started showing signs of withdrawal. They started him on methadone. He was in that hospita...

I've been going to a methadone clinic for 3 weeks now. They had me on a 95mg dose. I was taking opiates before. I didnt want to go to the clinic today b.c i want off this junk.. will my withdrawals be bad? Some people have told me it wont be bad since ive only been going for a short period. Is that true!? ## Hello, Steph! How are you? 95mgs is still a fairly high dose and regardless of how long someone has been taking it, Methadone is notorious for causing bad withdrawals, thus I advise being very cautious. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. It may be best to speak to your treatment provider, they should be able to help you taper off....

Help and advice what has helped others. Support, so I'm not all alone. Hope that things will be better. And strength ## Hello, Faith! How are you doing? Is your doctor aware that you're stopping this medication? Please be careful, especially if you're going cold turkey, there can be a slight risk of seizures from the withdrawal, especially if you were on a very high dosage. You may also experience nausea, RLS, joint pain, diarrhea and insomnia. ## Ty, too sick to trxt right now, sorry ## Are you ok? Figure it out or still sick?? :(

I would like to know the best over the counter med to help with my methadone withdrawals and pain. I have little money no insurance and hurt like never before. I'm determined to be 100% clean. ## I hate to tell you this but nothing will stop your withdrawals from methadone. The only thing that may help you is ibuprofen for the fevers. I went to a physicians assistant who prescribed me gabapentin (which i am alergic to)and clonidine which only lowers your blood pressure. I am on 18 days without methadone 80mgs a day or more depending on the day and the withdrawals the first week and a half are pure hell!.... I am on 7 of going cold turkey after being on 55mg for 3 years. This is the worst thing I have ever been through and to make things worse I'm going through a break up.. My body hurts, stomach kills, can't eat, can't sleep, constantly feel anxious and nervous. Craving a fix bad. Depression has kicked in big time. ??. How much longer will this physical and mental torture last. ## Hello, Kirsty! How are you feeling? Has there been any improvement, yet? It may take a month, or so, before you really start to feel better. Methadone is well known for causing horrible withdrawals, that's why some people never get off of it and end up on a lifetime maintenance dose. As reported by the FDA, other withdrawal effects may include rebound pain, diarrhea and fever. ## Honey try to find...

Hi there, this is for the people who are on methadone / or Suboxone. I've been on methadone for an opiate addiction, for a year now. My clean date is feb 2, 2015. At first, methadone was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I finally felt normal, and thought I was ready to get my life back on track. Well.. What a lie that was. I was at 75 mlgs of methadone from February 2015-August 2015, then started tapering off at 5 mlgs a week. I have a rapid metabolizer, so methadone never lasted longer than 10 hours in my system. Now I'm at 30 mlgs and I'm living in hell! I'm in constant withdrawal, body aches, sweating, hot /cold, emotional, aggressive... Etc. All I want is to feel normal again, but don't want to be tied on a leash to the methadone anymore! People say t...

Is the worst over with or do I have worse days ahead to look forward to?? ## Hello, Deckgirl! How are you doing? Yes, withdrawals and rebound effects may still be forthcoming. Methadone is notorious for causing such problems and it does tend to last in your body for quite awhile, after you stop taking it, so it's often a delayed effect. Learn more Methadone details here. It may not happen to you, though, there's no way to know for sure ahead of time. Have you consulted your doctor for assistance? ## i have been on methadone for 8 years and recently got in trouble for using benzos so they r doing a rapid deto...

Ive been battling the monster methadone for about 3 years now and I'm sick of it. I tapered down to 20mg a day and ran out. After trying elimodrol and withdrawal ease supplements and feeling OK for the first 2 days, I thought cool I will be OK. Hell no, day three my body told me that stuff ain't doing anything. I had a bottle of tramadol so I took about 250 mg and after 30 min I noticed I was sitting still and not wanting to jump out of my skin. WOW. So now I've been doing the same for 4 days and still alright. Is it too good to be true? Am I just trading one for the other or can it really help? I am sole provider of my wife and two young kids, so missing alot of work to go detox is out of the question. And cold turkey I can't handle right now. Anyone been here before?, ...

Hi, I was on Methadone for 15 years. For the past 2 years they slowly tapered me because I did not want to feel any withdrawals. They got me all the way down to 3 mg, and I stopped going. Well that was 30 days ago and I'm still going through withdrawals. They are not severe, insomnia, anxiety, diarrhea, cold chills. My question is how 2 stop it? I just want to feel normal again. ## Hi, Tamara! Sorry about the problems you're having. However, that is one very big issue with Methadone, it tends to cause withdrawals and cravings for a very long period of time, that's why most people never completely get off of it and end up requiring a lifetime maintenance dose. Thus, I'm afraid there's no way to know for sure when the symptoms you're having will stop, or if they wi...

So I've been taking methadone for 8 months now. My peak dose was 70mg, but I've been weaning off of it for several weeks with the goal of getting off of it entirely. This past week, I dropped down to 5mg and my body went into full withdrawal. I honestly think that the dose is so low that it's pretty much just waste that my body doesn't absorb. I called my clinic and asked if I could come in and switch to subutex. They told me that even though I'm only on 5mg, they won't take the risk of putting me on it until I've stopped taking it for three days even though I'm only on 5mg. The withdrawals are terrible and it's like I'm not even taking anything. I thought that if you're in full withdrawal then it is safe to switch to subutex. Anyway, when my ...

I take 100mgs of methadone every day for the past 12 years. I ran out of methadone and can't go to my Dr for 2 days. Will OxyContin 20mg help with the methadone withdrawal? If anyone knows please let me know. ## Hello John. No it will not. I have been on methadone for over 30 years, been there done that. You say you have 2 more days to go to see your Dr. Well, as you know, methadone is a long acting medication. You would be fine the first day, especially taking 100mgs. Without it, you might not feel your best, but won't withdraw. But the second day you may start to get sick. You could try to take it for the second day. Everyone is different. It may take the edge off of feeling sick and your pain, but does your Dr do drug urinalysis? Because if he does and you take the oxycontin ...

I was on methadone for six years, it has been 19 days sent I have stopped taking my 95 mg a day. I have never felt so sick. I can not walk without it feeling so bad. I hope to be better someday. I want to know how long. ## That is a rather high dosage to stop cold turkey. Methadone is usually tapered, to try to minimize the withdrawal effects. They can be very bad, which is why many people end up on a lifetime maintenance dose and never entirely get off the drug. Some things you may experience can include: nausea, dizziness, chills and diarrhea. The withdrawals can usually last about a month, they should slowly improve as the drug is processed out of your system and your body gets used to not having it. How are you doing, now? ## Well...why on earth would you do such a thing? Methadone ...

Please ## As reported by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression, anxiety and diarrhea. Quitting cold turkey generally isn't advised, because this medication is very hard to get off of. How are you doing with it? ## I'm not sure just staying home the diarria started today I just couldn't afford methadone anymore.
