Methadone With Vicodin

ive been working to reduce my daily methadone dosage for a year now, as I've been on maintenance. I'm down from 55 mg daily to only 15mg at this point and soon enough will be free of its clutches. I've been maintaining a clean lifestyle and I don't need a lecture on addiction. My question is--can Belviq be taken with Methadone? My doctor says it completely negates any opiate based or nRcotic pain medications in the brain. Last thing I need is to be thrown into sudden horrible withdrawals. For those of you unfamiliar with the methadone maintenance treatment, you must taper from it verrrrry slowly because it has a half life in the brain of up to three days. So does anyone have advice on HOW this medication works with opiate type pain medications like Vicodin, Norco, Oxycod...

Methadone is the worst drug. There are alternative ways to detox from opiates. I experienced cold turkey withdrawals after being on methadone for 12 years (90 mg. daily). Living hell. Severe withdrawals lasted two weeks, but less severe withdrawals lasted two months. Further withdrawals lasted for months. I couldn't think, walk, write... I was so miserable. If you are on Vicodin, Norco, etc., don't switch to Methadone. You have no idea what you're playing with. Trust someone who's been there (clean date: 2/1/2005) ## Hello, Caowens! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you've been through, but also congratulate you on sticking it out and becoming clean. Your post is very much appreciated, because many people do seem to see Methadone as a miracle drug, but they ...

Can I take.subs 24 hrs after my last vicodine use ## Hello, Lenny! How are you? No, you must be in full withdrawal, before taking the Suboxone, or it could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, so please follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have taken vicodin for many years; now prescribed Methadone. Should I expect withdrawals from vicodin? ## Hello, Jojo0919! How are you? No, most likely not. Methadone is actually commonly used to treat drug addiction, because it helps prevent the withdrawals from other opiates. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What dosage has been prescribed?

Been going to Nashville TN clinic for ten years. Past 5 years on a two week take home code with 0 problems. Didn't want to go to monthly. Got a dry socket and dentist gave me vicodin 5's. She knew I was on the methadone but realized after ten years the pain management aspect is non existent. Filled scripts, got antibiotics too, and took one each. Called clinic counselor to ask if i just bring the bottle in on next dosing day or since I already took my monthly u/a to not worry since i would be clean anyway next month. She said you just lost your code. Dumbfounded I took my remaining 11 pills to the clinic to plead my case. They said if i fail a drug panel i lose 20 mgs a day and code so she would just act like i didn't report it and when the filled script shows i just lose my...

I am currently on 10 mg of methadone 16 times a day. I have to have something for my backpain but cannot deal with the side effects of methadone anymore. What would be a replacement drug that would be as effective? ## Hi Sara, Sorry to hear that your pain medication isn't working as well as you'd like it to. Some of these side effects can be pretty horrible, so I don't blame anyone for trying to find an alternative. A few suggestions I can give you for other prescription pain medications include: Demerol, Morphine, Vicodin (extended release), Percocet, Dilaudid, Opana, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl. Your doctor would have a better clue as to which one of these would best replace the drug you're currently on, but honestly, there's no way of telling ahead of time how you...

After 15 years I was kicked off 200 mgs of methadone daily because the pain doc wasn't "comfortable" with it all of a sudden, but he is perfectly willing to let me drop dead suffering like a dog in front of my family at age 60, two hip replacements and severe osteoporosis. Sure enough the first day I went into a massive withdrawal and wound up with a dislocated hip on top of it at the ER. I wrote a complaint to the NY health dept and got a nasty letter saying the doctor can do whatever he wants as long as he provides emergency care. That can just be one more small prescription of Vicodin. Medicine shouldn't allow for such cruelty. ## I think there is a lot of talk about overdoses. I believe there is an undiscussed tragedy and that is of pain patients being discharged fr ...

I have severe case of Fibromyalgia with many flare ups where the pain becomes s bad I end up in the ER on dilaudid via IV. I became pregnant 6yrs ago and had been taking percocet for 2 years and was when I became pregnant so my OB/GYN advised on start on the methadone maintenance program. By the end of my term the clinic had me up to 175mg's. Recently I detoxed down 2 mg’s a week and now I am at 46mg's. It hurts something terrible. My PCP said after i’m thru detoxing that he will put me on a Vicodin patch s not to have to take pills again. My issue is as I go down even lower (I am holding at 46mg’s right now) I know my pain is going to be 100 times worse! My body cannot handle it and also I have a 6yr old daughter to take care of. I thought about a detox hospit...

Can you please help me with a name of a doctor in Austin texas that prescribes methadone? ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no such thing as a Methadone doctor. For pain, any doctor can technically prescribe, but many won't due to its severe habit forming potential. If you require it for addiction treatment, then you'll have to go to a clinic, because it would be illegal for a regular doctor to prescribe it for that. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? ## I used to be on Methadone and Vicodin, prescribed by a family doctor. I saw him for years until he mer...

I have been suffering from chronic pain for 7 years and have always been on and off pain meds from tylenol 3 to 90mg methadone at the worst of any ever taken. I decided to dose down & get off of methadone as I did not care for the "clinic" enviroment per say as I was using more for pain then for addicition. I found a dr that prescribed me the pain meds for breakthrough pain and the pill form of methadone 10mg was what I chose but now he is gone as he lost his license which sucks for me because NO ONE will give me anything, not even the methadone unless I go back to the stupid clinc and I so don't want that... DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DR. that would prescribe anything or just something to get me through life with less pain? I am in the twin cities of Minnesota and I will dri...

Looking for a pain management doctor in the pittsburgh area. I m a combat veteran that has been in multiple IED explosions that messed up my back and neck and gives me constant headaches. Unfortunately the VA refuses to help me because I told them I had a problem with the vicodin and perks they gave me after two surgeries a few years ago, I took too many b/c they werent helping, but now i'm marked as an addict. I have been on 20-25mg methadone pills for two years now and it has done wonders for me, no need for anything else and can work while on it. Unfortunately hat source is gone now and I am in trouble, I would goto the clinic at VA if I had transportation every morning but that's impossible for me. Hi..I've been at a clinic for close to 4 years the first year was great.ms but now it's a nightmare, ..how many of u are in this position...it's a hassle and time consuming so I had to find a dr. Because I am going to school and doing a whole lot more, I don't have the time...so I tried finding one from sterling hts to royal oak you name it I've been there and every dr I've seen judges.. No matter what or how u present your self.. Yes I used to abuse Vicodin years ago, all because of a accident in 2006. I crashed into a hotel. My back started to hurt after that but only when I stand up for 5 to 6 hours. The first time I tried it I saw a change I felt nothing and my mind relaxed a little. It was out of control then after the pills I switched to the hard stuff....b...

I went from 70-100mg a day now down to 1mg and change. Everyone I heard from said to TAPER! I guess it's been 4 months now, I still have to work and function (somewhat normal) But I hit a few brick walls, like at 30, then 10, then 5, but...you can go up a tad to feel better then come back down, just keep heading DOWN and you will get through it, no one has ever died from Methadone withdraw just remember that, I have no idea whats going to happen when i jump off in another week but it wont kill me :) ## I got trying to get off mdone . Dr is prescribing me klonapin 4mg a day and 40mg og methadone... run out of methadone just took 8 5mg vico is it safe ?? will it work to reduce the pain thanks!! ## Hello, Zulum! How are you? No, it is definitely not safe to take 8 Vicodin, at once. That is far too much Acetaminophen in one dose. Please make sure to inform your doctor, they will likely want to run a liver panel to see if you've done any damage. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such...

Looking for a physician that can prescribe methadone for pain ## Looking for a physician in Dallas or Ft Worth that will prescribe vicodin to a patient with severe herniations throughout the spinal cord. ## I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. You also can't ask a doctor for a specific medication, because they will view that as drug seeking behavior. If you require one or more of these narcotics on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? That would most likely be the easiest way of getting the help you need. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area? ## ...

I have 3 herniated/bulging discs in my back, RSD, fibromyalgia, was in an accident & spent 14 yrs having surgeries on my right ankle to save it (between 1977 & 1991! i had a compound fracture, bones laying outside my foot, gangrene, osteomyelitis etc.) Dr saved my foot thank God but I've been in & out of casts, leg braces, wheel chairs etc ever since yet i still worked from 1980 to 2003 while dealing with all this. Vicodin along wth methadone helps without making me so doped up I'm bed ridden but new Dr won't prescribe either so Sheens taking me off them slowly but by next month..August she will no longer give me either! I'm terrified of the pain I'll be in as she's reduced so much I'm feeling every pain, disc, & broken bone I've ever had a...
