I temporarily moved to ny from az. I was on a maintenance program in az. I arrived in ny with 3 weeks of takehomes, 10/19 was my last dose. I was at the guest clinic first thing 10/20, after waiting all day they told me they were not happy with the doctors order which was faxed to them from the doctor himself and would not be medicating me. However they would refer me to another clinic. As of today I have been to 4 clinics. The only difference is clinics 2,3,4 refused to medicate me because I have not been medicated in 2,3 and now 4 days. If anyone has any info that may be helpful I would really appreciate it. By the way my clinic in az is privately owned. Their solution to this mess - Fly back to az.

Please help. We have two methadone maintenance clinics in the whole state with an astounding amount of opioid addiction and overdoses. There is one in Fairbanks and Anchorage, both with a year or more waiting list. The mat-Su valley just received one "Palmer and Wasilla". The Kenai Soldotna area needs one desperately. We have a population of around 25,000 people and a huge illicit drug and opioid epidemic. Who do you have to contact to get one opened in our area? My sister is in Washington state and methadone maintenance has made her a different person. She has a career, a family & has been out of the jail system for ten years because of mmt. Thank you.

Anyone know of private practice doc So. Florida prescribe methadone maintenance? Thanks, {edited for privacy} ## No, regular doctors are not allowed to prescribe Methadone for any type of addiction treatment, including maintenance therapy. For such usage, it can only be given in a clinical setting by someone that is specially trained to provide such treatment with it. Do you have a clinic that you have been using? Hi all. I am overcoming an H addiction and have been taking MMT for just over a week. The first week went great. Now, I cannot stop throwing up. Here is what I have taken, I am administered the red/pink liquid: - Last Monday (3/9) and Tuesday I was on 30mg (taken at 5:15 AM) - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday I was on 40mg (taken at 5:15 AM) - Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I was on 50mg (taken at 7 AM) - and today (3/17) I was on 60mg (taken at 5:15 AM) Yesterday I threw up about 6 times from 7:30 AM until noon. The first couple of times it was solid throw up, then all liquid vomit. Today I have thrown up 3 times and it has ALL been liquid vomit. I threw up once at 10 AM then twice within a 10 minute period at 1 PM. I have not taken anything with my treatment; no slip up's or anything. I ...

Hello. I'm an addict in recovery, using the methadone maintenance as the way to wean off opiates. I currently take 1 95mg dose (methadone) in the morning, and I'm weaning down 2mg/month. I also have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and major lumbar pain. I take only Aleve for pain, as I'm told the methadone will not help me because I only take 1 single dose/day and not for pain management. I have had 2 surgeries on my back. A simple laminectomy, but my 2nd surgery was spinal fusion surgery. I have a metal cage in my lower back, but now; I need a 3rd surgery to repair the discs higher on my spine, as all the pain has returned and my very well-respected doctor highly suggests this. He ordered a series of steroidal epidural shots in my back. I did the 1st round of sho...

Looking for dr with maintenance license near Charleston wv instead of paying cash at clinic for chronic pain ## Hello, Shena! How are you? Under current FDA law, private practice doctor's are not allowed to prescribe Methadone for addiction, or maintenance treatment. Only medical professionals that are specially trained to treat with it are allowed to do so, and only in a clinical medical setting. They can prescribe it for pain, but if someone has ever gone to a clinic and been treated with it, regardless of whether or not it was for addiction treatment, or pain, that is listed in your medical records and regular PCPs, or pain management professionals are not allowed to prescribe it. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as...

I was on maintenance before. Haven't been for years. Can a methadone clinic choose to honor blood work instead of supervised urine's if you cant pee in front of ppl for certain reasons? I'm afraid that methadone is all that's ever worked and my life's on the line because of this... Are their any petitions out there for abuse victims (?) cause i felt like I was getting assaulted every time I used to go. I was on methadone for over 6 years and never relapsed once; but now after weeks and months of withdrawal I relapsed. Please speak up.

I'm on 75mg methadone maintenance. I accidentally took a 500mg cipro. Just one. Will I go into withdrawels ## I've never heard of cipro causing withdrawals. Cipro is an antibiotic used for a number of different infections. Have you read about cipro and methadone? I mean, read about them not interacting well together? I've never heard or read this before and I have been a nurse for 24 years. I will have to look this one up. Now, a med called naltrexone will cause withdrawals.... called precipitated withdrawals.....if taken too soon before actual Withdrawal from narcotics starts. Are you confusing these two meds, maybe? ## While cipro will not cause withdrawls it CAN cause methadone toxicity. You seem to be ok now but please do not take cipro with methadone.....there are far b...

I've been on MMT for 15 years. Currently my disease is 180 per day. I've been on that or more for 6 years or so. For the past several months I've developed diarrhea with blood in it. It's gotten worse over time, and now there's a lot of blood. Enough to turn the color of the water red, dark red at times. Blood clots, pain in my abdomen, etc. I know I have hemeroids but I think there's something more going on as well. I wonder if the juice is connected to my health problems. And I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything similar? ## Hello Shane. I am terribly sorry to hear about your situation. I very strongly encourage you to see your doctor about this issue if you haven't already. According to the National Institute of Health, one of the common effects...

I am trying to help my father find a doctor in northern Kentucky, zip code 41016. He has been on methadone for twelve years for drug addiction. He is now trying to get off of the methadone because he can no longer afford the clinic he was going to. He is trying to find a doctor to help him get off methadone. Please, any help in any direction would be greatly appreciated. ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? I'm sorry, but if he's been taking it for addiction treatment, or maintenance, then a clinic is his only option. Private doctors are not allowed to prescribe it for that, even if he's just wanting to taper off. I'm sorry, I wish I had better news for you, but I don't. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, ...

if i take a methadone in the morning then do an oxy later will i still get high on the oxy ## Doubledizzle..How many MG's of methadone are you taking? Methadone will block any other narcotic if you are taking it for addiction, if you are taking it for pain, you are likely taking a lot smaller dose, so the methadone won't block other opiates unless you take them together, and that is just a guess on my part. When I started Methadone Maintenance, it took a long time to find my blocking dose, so if you are on it for addiction, it takes time, keep working on it with your doctor at the clinic,. If you are taking it for pain. this doesnt apply Pat ## Doubledizzle, why are you wanting to get high on oxy?? Pat

My husband and I were addicted to opiates for several years. We started on Methadone maintenance about a year ago and it has worked wonderfully. We are now ready to move on with our lives. We knew from the beginning that we were not going to be on Methadone for the rest of our lives. We are ready for traveling, babies, and life without methadone. My husband turned down an awesome job out of state to taper down correctly instead of quitting cold turkey, as the state the job was in had no methadone clinics. We both spoke to our counselors to discuss tapering off methadone. My counselor was very supportive, but, my husbands counselor is horrible and said that "he needs to come to the realization that some people stay on methadone for the rest of their lives". My husband explained t...

I would to find a doctor to prescribe them to me cause I really need to get off the drug ## How can I get some methadone pill 10ml ## Hello, Mary! How are you? To be treated with Methadone, you'll need to go to a treatment clinic. A regular doctor cannot prescribe it for addiction or maintenance treatment. Have you checked to see if there are any in your area? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

new to area need methadone location ## I'm sorry, but you didn't post your location and without knowing that, all we can do is guess. Have you tried contacting a local hospital? They usually keep the names and phone numbers for nearby clinics, so they can provide the information to anyone in need. You may also want to consider looking into treatment with Suboxone, since rather than requiring a lifetime maintenance dose, it has enabled many people to become completely drug free. Learn more: Can you post back with at least your general location? That way it will be easier for people to make suggestions! ## Verwon. can you help. My mom is ill and I'm on MMT for past 30 years. I am from ND and in dire need of finding a doctor who can prescribe me Methadone. I have been battling drug abuse for 10+ years and have gone through many treatment facilities. I have done my research and want to move on with my life by getting on a Methadone program. PLEASE HELP! ## The problem with Methadone is that many people never truly get drug free, even after using the treatment programs. They often end up requirng a lifetime maintenance dose of it. You may be better of with Suboxone, which is fairly new, but has helped many people taper off of and completely beat their drug addiction. It contains the opiate Buprenoprhine. i was geting methadone 10 mg at a clenic then got medacare couldnt go back to clenic now no doctor will give it to me also smoke pot reno nv ## It sounds to me like none of the doctors/clinics you're going to are accepting medicare. I would just suggest visiting your local Human Resource Department; as they should be able to link you up with a directory full of local physicians who are accepting that type of insurance. Otherwise there would be no need for Medicare if no doctors ever accepted it. You could also ask the doctors/clinics that you already visited, for a referral to a new physician. That way they can also transfer all of your medical records at the same time. I hope this helps! ## Medicare should cover methadone maintenance, plus they have $ pay as you dose policy, wich i...

I was taking 69 mg methadone every morning at the clinic I've been going down 2 mg a week I'm at 8mg now till Friday am I gonna get sick or do OK with no withdrawls ## Hello, Jaymee! How are you? Methadone is notorious for causing bad withdrawals, even at very low doses, which is why many people treated with it end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it and never truly become drug free. I can't say that you're going to have problems, but there is a definite chance that you still might. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are they stopping you at the 8mg dose?

I have been taking anywhere from 5 to 10 mg of methadone a day for about 1 month. I only take it once a day, and at the same time every day (at night before bed) for back pain. If I stop taking it cold turkey at this point, will I experience withdrawals? ## Yes, you will most likely still experience some withdrawal effects, such as nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea and rebound pain, as listed by the FDA. Methadone is very well known to be habit forming and to cause withdrawals, that's why many people that take t for addiction treatment end up requiring a lifetime maintenance dose of it and never truly end up drug free. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? ## No, I have not. I've stopped taking it, and after the 1st night I had hot sweats. Nothing else so far, but I'm...
