I was in a auto 04/2010. My back is broke in several places and my L shoulder. My family an I were told I need a 24 hr operation on my back and a 12 hr operation to replace my shoulder. We were told I would not.survive either and need to be on comfort care with pain meds the rest of my life. I moved to cottage gove,mn 07/2014 and have been treated like I"m a street drug addict. This is a sin how people like me in the USA are treated. I was a Hospice RN for many years before the car accident. I am becoming suicidal from the pain. I have severe nerve pain in my back, but and legs to my feet. Methadone 30 mg 3 tomes a day is the only med that helps and oxycodone 2-3 tabs every 6 hrs for acute an break through pain as needed. I am on 58 mg of Methadone and I have been on it for a year. It does not help with pain for me, and I did this on my own to see if it would help me. I was taking 4 mg of Hydromorphone for pain before. Now I want off the Methadone but my doctor is telling me I have to go to a non opioid pain clinic for pain. What is that??? Doctor is cutting me off of methadone 10mg, 50mg/day due to regulations... what a surprise! I'm in the state of Kentucky (40977). I am an hour from Lexington and an hour from Knoxville, TN. I get two weeks worth and then I'm on my own, said they'd refer me and send records to whoever, recommended Tennova. I have private insurance and this was a result of a wreck 11 years ago, he's had me on it ever since for pain.

They want to prescribe it to me for bad pain as insurance won't cover OxyContin or Codeine products anymore. ## Yes. By all means..being only on methadone to stay clean IS going to save your life not to mention being able to function normally..jobs etc.won't have to EVER chase illicit drugs again if you are serious about staying clean. Don't worry..because I have been on it 35 plus years. No issues being normal if you have made your mind up to stay off the boy forevermore. I have been fine. Now 67. How well does methadone work for chronic pain management? I went from 10 mg oxycodone then dropped down to 7.5 mg hydrocodone and my pain is totally out of control. I have no relief. changing from Methadone for pain to Suboxone for pain. Pain clinc is trying to pass the buck, I cant find a GP in or around the Trenton Ontario area to prescribe. I have been taken 150 mg pill form for 6 years works good. But moved pain clinc is in Oakville Ontario usually pain clinc wants your GP to take over prescribing but most GPs are nervous because they have to get a section 56 Methadone exemption. I am taking 60mg of methadone a day for pain management, given to me by a rheumatologist in Pa. We are moving to NJ. Will it be hard to find a doctor in NJ that will prescribe it for me there? I have been on it for about 6 years. I also take Percocet 10/325 for breakthrough pain. ## I am not sure how hard or easy it will be to find someone, some doctors are more understanding and liberal than others. I've been on methadone now for about 5 months. It's a pretty low dose. I also unfortunately top it up with alot of codeine. I have a really great doctor and team who are doing their best to help me and I am a difficult client! Anyway, long story short, the last 6 weeks or so I am in alot of pain at night time. I am prescribed 40 mg. daily Methadone for the pain associated with having Type II Trigeminal Neuralgia. For two months, it worked well, but now, only my breakthrough medication, Roxicodone (Oxycodone with non APAP) 15 mg. 4 x per day, is the only thing which stops the pain. I was advised by a friend that if I take my entire dose of Methadone in the morning, I could just use my Roxicodone at night, that this may work better, and I would have less breakthrough pain. I'm a recovering addict, been on suboxone for 6 months now.. just had ileocecectomy for crones disease. Was given 48 morphine 15mg ir. Once gone (yesterday) was advised to resume subs. I did. It's not cutting the pain.... would methadone do better????
