Switching from methadone to subutex
6 Replies RSS
I have been on methadone treatment for about 2 years. I originally started going to a clinic and took the liquid. I was at about 200 mg per dose. I couldn't keep going to the clinic, and keep a steady job. I ended up finding a pain management doctor that prescribed me the pill form. We worked out a plan to taper down because methadone is just not good if you want to have energy, an increased libido, sweat, and all the lovely other symptoms. I ended up tapering down to about 60 mg per day then my doctor decided that he wanted me to switch from methadone to subutex. So, we made a plan to get down another 30 mg. I took the 30 mg for a week, then he told me he was ready to prescribe the subutex. My last dose of methadone was Friday morning at 6 a.m. I ended up making it 56 hours before ... ...

I have a script for methadone. Took it to Walgreens, but they said it cant be filled until November11,2013... I really need my meds before i go into terrible WD. Plz help... ## If you are at a pain clinic, then you need to call them and tell them you've either had a bad month and over-taken and work with them to get you back on track. If its your family doctor? Be ware, they may cut you off completely. I've been down the road of methadone and it was a terrible drug to be on for me personally. I told my doctor to put me back on Percocets and I've been fine ever since. Nobody can get your script filled but you, however you do need your doctor or pain management doctor to understand its not working for you as you shouldn't be out so early if they were. ## Does anyone know of... ...

My husband and I just moved to Valrico, FL and I'm looking for a doctor that would help with his methadone maintaince. My husband is taking 150mg and has to go all the way to tampa everyday. the problem is he is starting to work early mornings and by the time he gets a ride and comes back he is barley making it to work on time(if traffic is good). He wants the job but he isn't going to be able to maintain the job especially when he has to go out of town for several days at a time soon.he's taking the methadone due to a neck fracture from serveral years ago so he isn't a "junkie" looking for a new fix. Before it was easier to go to the clinics everyday, now its becoming a nuisance for the job and myself. We need this job to support our family . It would help if an... ...

Now I need a doctor that will perscribe me methadone that would take my work insurance or that would be cheaper. Can u help me? ## Hello, Debbie! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. However, a regular doctor cannot prescribe it for you for addiction treatment/maintenance, that can only be done in a clinical setting by those that are specially trained in its use. As to a clinic that would take your insurance, since I don't know where you are, or what insurance you have, I can't help search for one. Have you tried calling others in your area to ask if they accept it? ...

im a carpenter in ny, I was going to a methadone clinic, but unfortunately I work from 5am-5pm daily, and that's when there open. I need an alternative way to get methadone. It was working, nothing else really works for me. Maybe someone knows a way, or dr. Im located in Hackensack nj, but work in the city. I do have back problems, I don't know if that would help? I know dr's will prescribe it for pain, rather than addiction? I was on 40mg a day and I was fine, when I stopped, started using H again. please help if you can. ## Hello, Michael! How are you? Difference between Suboxne and methadone
41 Replies RSS
What is the difference between the suboxone and methadone treatment ## Hi, Same question- What is the difference between methadone and suboxone ? Thanks for helping ! ## I was on methadone maintenance for 5 years this time (clean from other drugs for 4 years) and I just switched to suboxone. If you are just on dope or oxys, you need to figure out what you want. You will feel better/higher off the methadone. about an hour after you take it you get that kind of warm feeling and you can still catch a nod. I switched off methadone b/c I got sick of going to a clinic all the time, putting up with the bull**** and everyone treating you like you are a worthless junkie, even if you are doing everything right and working the program--but I am in a fairly big city, so my experience may be atypica... ...

5 Replies RSS
I dropped a 40 methadone in a glass of coke . What can I do .. I really them for my pain ## Drink the coke...or is there something here I am not catching? ## You dropped multiple Methadone tablets, or just one? If it's just the one dose, then I believe Art is spot on, it's not going to turn into a dangerous substance, just because it got mixed into coke. If it's multiple doses, then you can't do that, because you'd be getting too much at once and, if that's the case, you'll need to contact your doctor or clinic. Learn more Methadone details here. ## There are 40 tablets in there ## I just have to ask. How did you manage to "drop" them ALL into the coke? I mean you would almost have to work at getting that many to magically drop in that opening! What g... ...

Many of them have referral services or in-house pain management clinics, which may be your best bet. SETTING RECORD STRAIGHT!! how long after taking subutex can u take methadone
17 Replies RSS
Both subutex and suboxone will cause precipitated withdrawal. It is the bupe that connects to the receptors and kicks the methadone out. Naloxone is just an extra blocker!! I am a social worker at a clinic. Waiting at least 12 hours only if on low dose 20mg or less should b OK. But 24 preferred. ## If you take a little less then half of a 8mg subutext 15 hours ago is it safe to take 20mgs of methadone does anyone know! ! ! ## Why do people always minimize Naloxone? EMTs give the ODs Narcan, which brings the patient into withdrawal. Naltrexone (Vivitrol) has been used with chronic opiate addicts and alcoholics in several forms, pill, 30 day shot, implant. It is a VERY strong blocker and has many side effects. I have personal experience with this medication & know that it is not somet... ...

I have been prescribed methadone since 2009 for nerve and chronic pain. It's not cutting the pain.... would methadone do better???? I don't wanna hear the withdrawal factor of methadone, just if it's potent or different enough from subs to help my pain.. ## Justin, Well methadone is far superior for pain relief.I doubt you switched from morphine to suboxne without the requisite time for induction. If you did wait the 4 days the levels of sub may not be sufficient to exhibit a clinical response.
