My Taper story- BG: I was severely addicted to pain pills and started taking methadone in a MMT Clinic in August of 2014. Before I knew it i went all the way up to 75mg of liquid daily. I became tired of being chained to the clinic having to do U/A's and counseling weekly. No one in my life knew of my addiction to pills or that I went to MMT clinic in the first place so I had to constantly lie to everyone where I was going to get my dose daily, it became to much. Not to mention how unhealthy and sickly I had started to look. I eventually made the decision to begin to slowly taper off before I knew I was even pregnant. My daughter is 6 months pregnant. She is taking 80 mg of methadone a day through a local clinic while recovering from a H addiction. She also takes clonidine for tourette tics. I have noticed that her tics are worse than ever and realized it may be due to the lamictal. The lamictal is for her anxiety and possible bi polar. However, once you are pregnant, your doctor may want you to switch to a different medication, because there may be some risks associated with taking it, while pregnant. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I have been on methadone for seven years. Thru a clinic. I also am prescribed many anti depressants as well as 2 mg klonopin. I just found out iam 10 weeks pregnant. What should i do? Does me taking both these medications affect my baby? Where di i go to research this. I do not eant to hurt my baby at all. I currently am thirteen weeks pregnant and am taking fifty five mg of methadone for about a month or so now. I no longer want to take this medication since i am no longer having withdrawl symptoms, but the clinic i am currently a attending is telling me that i am not going to be able to cold turkey or start tapering off methadone util i am at eighteen weeks of my pregnancy due to the saftey of my child and possible fetal harm caused by withdrawl stress. Okay so ive been on methadone for about a year. 90mg. But then i got pregnant. I am currently 6 months. I had to go up A LOT to feel okay during the day. I was on 140mg. I haven't went to my clinic for a week because the methadone started making me sick. I was throwing up all day and i couldn't eat it was horrible, so i stopped going. I still feel uncomfortable during the day but nothing too bad. How long will it take the methadone to get out of my system? I've been on Suboxone since April 2012. Last week I found out I am pregnant, and am about four weeks along. I called my doctor who prescribes the Suboxone, and she has left me with a difficult ultimatem. She has prescribed subutex for a week, and then my treatment is up to me. I either need to go to methadone clinic (which is too far for me to drive daily, and id have to win the lotto to afford it) or risk a miscarriage by not taking anything. She will only help me for a week. I've contacted the Suboxone hotline, and women can take subutex or methadone while pregnant with less risk than Suboxone. Where can I look.for another doctor? Hello! Ok so, i was diagnosed with several mood disorders including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, ocd, and borderline personality disorder. I have been on alot of different medicationsls and quit takong everuthing after i became pregnant. How do I loose the weight I have gained on methadone? I am 5'2" and almost 180lbs. I have NEVER weighed this much not even during my only time being pregnant. I just started taking methadone a couple days ago for pain because I was in a pain clinic taking Oxycodone (perks) and Oxycontin (extended release perks) both at 10mg 3x a day but I would take more than prescribed because it didnt help my pain at that amount alone. Then I found out i am pregnant and those meds are category B in the FDA database so its safer to take them while pregnant but I missed one appointment at the pain center that i didnt even know about they made an appointment for me without seeing if i could make it and didnt notify me prior to the appointment day so of course i missed it. Please help. My doctor had me on percoset 10/325 4 times a day. That was for over a year. Well I found out I was pregnant and the doctors promised me it was ok for me to take them. Well I started not taking as many cause I wanted to stop for my baby. I started getting sick and at first had no clue why. Fyi to anyone considering subutex or suboxone while pregnant-beware that your baby is passed your opiates. I took lortab and subutex while pregnant weaned off of all 8 weeks prior to delivery and my son has autism. I know that no one knows what causes autism, but it's not worth your experimentation! beware! if you don't stop before delivery your baby will have withdrawl and the hospital will know for sure. take good care. ## I am 36 weeks pregnant, and have been on oxycodon for the entire time. It's a breath of fresh air to read when people get off of the methadone with ease, but I do hope I get a response. I am in the same boat as everyone. I'm 36 and up until I started MMT I was genetically TINY, never weighing over 110lbs. I have gained 85 lbs. 85!!! I went from being a pretty girl to having zero self esteem. Looking for a doctor who will prescribe methadone in the Charlotte, nc area. I have real pain due to a car accident back in 2000 when I broke my pelvis. I moved from Jersey to Nc and got the pain meds off of someone else and when I became pregnant I was told to go to a methadone clinic. I had no idea what I was doing or that I could easily have gone to pain management. I'm willing to drive almost anywhere within reason for a doctor who can give me methadone. I've tried subutex and suboxone but neither work. I have severe case of Fibromyalgia with many flare ups where the pain becomes s bad I end up in the ER on dilaudid via IV. I became pregnant 6yrs ago and had been taking percocet for 2 years and was when I became pregnant so my OB/GYN advised on start on the methadone maintenance program. By the end of my term the clinic had me up to 175mg's. Recently I detoxed down 2 mg’s a week and now I am at 46mg's. It hurts something terrible. My PCP said after i’m thru detoxing that he will put me on a Vicodin patch s not to have to take pills again.
