Just got my Metformin ER 750 refilled. The pills look different... could be different manufacturer? One has 93 on one side and 7212 on the other. The other has 143 stamped on one side and nothing I can see on the other side. Help? ## Yes, they are both the same medication, a controlled release formulation of Metformin in a 750mg dosage. The one with the 93 is manufactured by Teva Pharmaceuticals and the 143 is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals. It is common for the pharmacy to switch which generic they supply, depending on which company was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible for customers without insurance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was prescribed with CLOPIDOGREL -PLAGERINE 7...

what is the osm type of metformin er can't find anything on it and my NP can't either except it costs very much ## OSM is used to designate it as being osmotic, it's used to make sure that you get a maximum extended/time released formulation of the medication. That's why it costs more, it's not a typical generic, because it doesn't have the usual leeway that they are allowed to have, it is tested more rigorously and adheres to much stricter release requirements. I took a Metformin ER 500mg today for the first time but I cut it in half because I didn't know that I wasn't supposed to. I took the first half and then saw that I was supposed to take it whole so I took the other half. I'm just wondering if I'm in any danger? ## Since it is time released tablet, you could get too much of the medication at once, so you will need to watch for the signs of low blood sugar, which could include: dizziness, drowsiness, tremors and fainting. You may want to make sure you have something sweet on hand that can bring it up, fast, such as a small glass or orange juice and then, when feeling better, a sandwich or something to help keep it up longer. Are there any other questions? ## how long / how many hours does metformin ER act? ## AJJAx, they s...

I had my prescription filled and it says 500mg er tab amne, underneath was typed substituted for metformin 500 mg er tab wats, what's the difference ## Hello, Linda! How are you? Sorry about the confusion, pharmacies should really be a bit more precise, but I'm happy to clear this up for you. :-) The only difference is the manufacturer, the original one was manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, which is what the wats stands for and the new one is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, as designated by the amne. Rather than saying it's a substitute, they should really have just put a notice on it that it is the same medication, but may look different than that which you'd received before. Diarrhea is a typical side effect of this medication, as listed by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, hypoglycemia and flatulence. Have you consulted your doctor?

I have some white oblong white tablets scored on one side and printed M525 on the other. Glucophage seems to be less likely to give me diarrhea and nausea. Are there any generic brands which have less side effects than Aurobindo Metformin? They all carry the risk of causing the same side effects, it is just a matter of finding one that works for you, without making you completely miserable, so it is basically trial and error.
