I started using MET XL 50 MG AFTER ANGIOPLASTY AT 8 AM IN THE MORNING. IN THE BEGINGING ONE MONTH MY BP USED TO BE 110/70. THE MEDICINE WAS USED ALONG WITH CLOPITAB, NITRACT AND ECHOSPRIN. RECENTLY I OBSERVED MY BP TO BE GOING UP IN SPITE OF THE USAGE OF THE DRUG AND IT GOES TO 95/155 BY EVENING 6 PM EVEN THOUGH I AM STILL TAKING THE DRUG IN THE MORNING. THE DCOTOR ASKED ME TO REPEAT THE DOSAGE IN THE EVENING ALOS. AFTER TAKING THE EVENING DOSAGE BY 10 PM THE BP COMES BACK TO 120/78. HEART RATE IS SAME THROUGHOUT THE DAY BETWEEN 58 TO 70. DOES MET XL AFTER USAGE FOR SOME TIME LOOSE ITS EFFICIENCY? WHY AFTER ONE MONTH THE BP WENT UP? CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN OR SHALL I STOP THIS DRUG AND TAKE ANY ALTERNATIVE? ## According to NIH reports, it is normal for your blood pressure levels to vary ...

round white tab with the number on the pill831. I was taking metoprolol 50 mg xL can you tell me what's the different? ## There is no difference, they are both time released Metoprolol, the pharmacy has just referred to it in different ways, one as XL and one as ER. Do you have any other questions? ## Metoprolol Tab 50MG ER old bottle pills White with number M50 New pills white and larger size with number W735 ??? ## Richard, the only difference I could tell was the one with W 735 is Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release 50 mg. The one with the M 50 is Metoprolol Extended Release 50 mg (possibly tartrate). It is still basically the same beta blocker, high blood pressure medicine. I have been taking one Metoprolol XL 50MG (listed as a substitute for Toprol XL 50 MG TAB) tablet once a day. My doctor tells me it is now unavailable and he must prescribe an alternative. So I just received my new prescription that reads Metoprolol 50 MG TAB (substituted for Lopressor 50MG TABLET). My instructions are to take one tablet twice daily. Isn't this twice the dose I was taking? ## What you need to do is cut your 50 mg tabs in half and take 25 mg twice a day, or you will be getting double the dosage which could be very dangerouse. The Metoprolol ER 50 mg is an extended release tablet which basically gives you 25 mg early on and 25 mg later in the day. ## Actually it DOES NOT release half earlier in the day and half later, that is NOT how they work, the medication is slowl...

oblong tablet, G282 imprint on back, scored on front to break in half ## I could not find anything with that marking in the US prescription drug database listings, however, Metoprolol is the generic for Lopressor or Toprol, the ER stands for extended release. This is used to lower blood pressure and reduce the work load on your heart. ## I got the generic equivalent to Toprol XL 50 mg tablet used for high blood pressure treatment. I wanted to double check prior to taking the medication. My METOPROLOL ER 50 MG tablets also are an oblong tablet, G282 imprint on back, scored on front to break in half. Although the G was hard to read because of the triangular shape of the letter G. I just refilled the same perscription again. The new pills are more like Toprol XL. They are round with the co...

Dr. Reddy's metoprolol succ er. RUN AWAY! Or have your doctor change your prescription. I took Dr. Reddy's metoprolol because my new insurance wouldn't pay for the brand I had been taking for 5 years. 6 weeks of waking up everyday with red and swollen feet, achy left pectoral region, a 2x increase in my dress size, and a voracious appetite made me stop my use of it and pay out of pocket for the brand. Within 3 days of being on my old medication, Toprol XL , I was feeling like myself again. ## Hi stevie, Sorry to hear about your experience with Dr Reddy's. However I'm glad to hear that you were able to get back on the Toprol XL again. What's interesting to me is that there's no real way of knowing ahead of time how you're going to react/respond to other br...

I have been given 3 different pills stating they are the same. Round extra large and now pink ones. someone needs held accountable. I could not breathe, cough, swelling in my legs and feet can't wear my shoes. I am mad as hell told everyone Dr. Pharmacy, and no one cared. ## Why was metoprolol recalled? Help all we people who have taken this drug and is troprol xl safe? the way Dr's. and Pharmacy's lied to us I am trying to call the TV station to get this out.. ## I have had similar problems with taking pain killers in these high strengths. The worse on your teet is methadone so don't let them talk you into that, I had perfect teeth until I took methadone for a few years and got to a strength that would finally help with the pain but it is probably the worse on your teet...

What is the difference between seloken xl 50 and Telma 40? Can either one be substituted by the other? ## They both contain different active ingredients, though they are used to treat the same medication conditions. Seloken is listed as containing Metoprolol, while Telma contains Telmisartan. Thus they are not interchangeable and you should take the one your doctor has recommended. The FDA lists the typical side effects of these medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with? Are you on any other medications?

Hi, my dad got his angioplasty done 2.5 months back with 2 stents. He is diabetic, has high blood pressure and operated for add closure in 1976. He was taking ramcor h and amlosafe 5 before the angioplasty. Post angioplasty his blood pressure medicine was changed to olmat 20 mg one at night and prolomet am 5/50 in the morning. His no was still high so the dosage was increased to Olmat 40 mg. But with this increased dosage he has to wake up for urinating several times at night. Also he has started getting swelling on feet. Dr said swelling is because of amlodopine in prolomet am. I spoke to the Dr and asked him to change the combination for blood pressure. Now he has recommended metocard xl 50 morning and valzaar 80 twice morning and evening. So my query is which combination is better the p

I currently take this medication and was told today that there might have been a recall on it. Anyone know any info on this? ## I have seen this information too, but I am not sure which manufacturers it applies to. Here is the quote from the other dicussion thread about this: "Sandoz is voluntarily extending the September 17, 2008, recall of Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release Tablets 25mg and 50mg, to include all strengths of distributed lots with expiration dates through August 2010. This voluntary action by Sandoz is due to deficiencies in documentation practices and in-process controls for this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted down to the retail level with the knowledge of the FDA. The affected lots were shipped approximately between November 2006 and October ...

My generic toprol xl just changed to this and I want info on this manufacturer to see if there are any problems with it. ## I was also changed to the Actavis Metoprolol success er 25 MG due to lack of availability or discontinuation of Mylan's generic version. I find the Avtavis version not nearly as effective as Mylan and am trying to learn the status of the Mylan MT1 version, or the effectiveness of other generics for this drug. ## Although some manufacturers have a reputation for more or less effective meds, I find that everyone's response/reaction is also going to vary based on several factors; including but not limited to one's unique body chemistry, metabolism, sensitivities to inert ingredients, etc. That said, trial and error may be the only way to determine what wor...
