What ever happened to this drug? It helped me so much to function but also relieved all kinds of pain in my body. I know it is an older drug from the 60's but it was a God send to me. Today I am on pain meds that don't work that well, and my mind races which is exhausting. Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, it's a muscle relaxant. And Meprobamate is a minor tranquilizer and anti-anxiety medication. I was on prescription painkillers with meprobamate and have now stopped. Can I take tryptophan to help with the withdrawal ## Hi Anand, From what I've read, L-Tryptophan is known for its use in helping patient's reduce the severity and occurrence of certain withdrawal symptoms upon stopping those types of medications. Apparently, the body creates 5-HTP from it, which then starts the conversion process to serotonin and melatonin. You'd ultimately have to talk with your doctor about proper dosing, but it sounds like some people have had success taking 3000mgs/day in divided doses.
