I have been taking Meperidine 50 mg 381-b for years. Recently my pharmist switched to Meperidine 50 mg 4171-v and I do ot think it is as effective . He says it is exactly the same. Also, lately I found one of the "old" pills (381-b) and it was far more effective then the new ones. Please tell me the difference. ## They are both generics for Demerol and listed as the same dosage, however, there can be differences in generic drugs and that may be what is causing your problem. Is this a pain medication called Roxy? My cousin took one an it made him feel funny and then went to sleep. It was supposed to be for pain for his back not sleep. Did he take something else? He's been a wake for a few hours but slept most of the morning. ## This is actually listed as containing 50mgs of Meperidine, which is a different narcotic analgesic.
