I live in Memphis and am suffering from chronic pain from c1 and c2 in my neck and the trap area in my shoulder. My collarbone often feels like it is broken. I have dealt with this pain on a chronic and severe level since 2007. I have had no insurance for most of my adult life but my husband was recently accepted as a senior scientist at St Jude Children's Research Hospital.the pain recently got so bad that I had to go to the emergency room even without insurance they gave me dilaudid to relieve the pain as well zofran which helps relieve nausea. I left the ER with a prescription of tramadol immediately made all pain go away. Unfortunately I was only given a very limited quantity and was hoping that I could make a visit to my regular doctor so that I could get a refill she looked at...

Does anyone know a pain management doctor in Memphis or north MS, that will prescribe pain killers, that is not afraid of the FDA. I am self pay and have no insurance and have had R.A. for over 20 years. In horrible pain. My last doctor would only give me Lortab 10. Which I have built up a tollirance too. ## I may not have a PM doctor that I can personally refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in so far as locating pain management doctors within your general area. Just input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients. Need good pain management Dr. in Memphis, Tn. willing to prescribe meds. Take new and selfpay patients. ## Hello, Unfortunately, no one can really know ahead of time what a doctor is or is not willing to prescribe, as that is based on the doctor's discretion and not just on someone else's previous appointment (especially since many doctor's are now worried about losing their licensing for prescribing too many narcotics). In regards to find a doctor- I may not know of a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in so far as finding pain management doctors within your general area. Anyone going to a good pain doctor in Memphis that is taking new patients. I am on disability and my wife and I both have r.a. The Dr. we have been seeing for over 10 years has cut our pain meds. If we need something stronger he said find a pain management Dr. He now wants to cut out our pain meds all together. Help please this is such a painful and depressing desease. ## I'm sorry that you're having such problems. New regulations have been put in place at the start of the year that are discouraging general practitioners and surgeons from prescribing pain medications for long-term use, due to the risk of improper prescribing and over prescribing, since they haven't been specially trained at managing pain. Did you try asking him for a referral? That often makes it easier to g...

I am trying to find a pain management doctor in or near the memphis area that takes amerigroup insurance. The closest one I have been able to find is in Nashville and I am a single mother of 3 so that is not practical for me to drive every month. That's a almost 4 hr drive from where I am. Please if anyone knows anyone who takes the insurance amerigroup that does pain management or even isn't a pain management doctor but will prescribe pain meds I would appreciate u letting me know. I can't go without having some kind of pain meds daily because I am a paraplegic with back pain, chronic leg spasms and severe arthritis in my right shoulder. Any help again I thank u for ahead of time. ## I'm also trying to find a Dr. in the Memphis TN area. Any suggestions?

why have doctors in memphis tn stopped prescribing pain meds? ## Based on what's been going on lately in the pharmaceutical world, my guess is that most of the rudimentary doctors have become reluctant to "over-prescribe" narcotics, because they fear that they will loose their licenses upon doing so. The same thing appears to be happening in parts of Florida. Does anyone have some extra insight on this? ## You are spot on, this is true in all 50 states, and, intensified with the so-called, "OxyContin Express" Unfortunately, out of state patients, driving from West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky especially, to Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties in South Fla, about 3 years ago, before, Florida passed legislation, to join the Prescription Monitoring Program. I have been on suboxone for a while. However the Dr I am currently seeing is falling short on his duties as a Dr. He didn't come in until 4pm on Friday and 6 of us were told to come back Saturday. Well Saturday after waiting for 7 hours he called the office and said he wasn't coming and he's only open Thursday-Saturday most weeks and none at all other weeks. He's impossible to reach to even get medicine called in. Anyways. In short I am in need of a suboxone Dr that accepts Tenn care in the Memphis and surrounding areas. Or one that doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Please. I'm a mom of 4 and am so very desperate to not be sick anymore. Thanks. ## Hello, Katherine! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're dealing with a doctor like that. There is a search e...

My wife is 31 years old and she suffers from huge anxiety problems and panic attacks on a daily basis. However because of her age we can’t find a doctor to prescribe her xanax because so many people her age do abuse prescription drugs and sell them. We know it’s very addicting but she had been on them for three years and we move for about a year and she substituted the Xanax with drinking a lot of alcohol. Now that we have moved to TN and there is a huge difference in how she reacts to daily life without them. She is a different person when she gets them and keeps better control of herself when on them. We feel that she should be on xanax and prozac for the rest of her life. So if anyone knows a doctor that would prescribe her xanax around the Cordova or Memphis area. ## Hel...

I live in Memphis Tn.I have been going to the methadone clinic for 13 years.I have R A and I can't afford the methadone clinic anymore.I need to find A Dr That will prescribe my methadone. I need help ASAP ## Hello, Lee! How are you? I'm sorry, but a clinic is your only option. It is illegal for a private practice doctor to prescribe it for addition treatment or maintenance, under current U.S. law, that can only be done by those specially trained in its use for such in a clinical setting. Even those that resorted to a clinic for pain, end up having to remain there, because once that is in your medial records, you have no other option. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness...

I was under pain management for 10 yrs in Memphis & my doc passed away. Was seeing Dr Douglas Jones but he took teaching position at University of TN. I would be willing to travel to Ark if necessary. Have Medicare & on disability & have been on pain meds for years to manage severe back pain. Need to find a doctor with some compassion. Dr. Jones was great but had to move on. ## David, Sorry to say your chances of finding a "compassionate old school doc" that is liberal with the pen and pad are no longer in existence. From one who knows, Your best bet is to seek an interventional pain management practice as they may offer a degree of relief that many would find helpful. Long term use of opioid and or opiates exclusively are not the optimal course of treatment for intr...

I am hoping that someone can help! I am searching for a pain management provider in West Tennessee (Jackson TN, Memphis TN, etc.... I was brutally attacked at work (law enforcement) and left for dead. Everything pretty much healed up over time except my left shoulder. It was pretty much shattered! Now it is made up of alot of screws and pins. 6 surgeries later and I am still in debilitating pain. The pain clinic I was going to shut down for being pinched for insurance fraud. It sucks because there was no warning before hand what so ever. I need a doc that will prescribe my meds and not just put it off as these inj's. will work. Dont get me wrong the inj's. help but not enough all by themselves. WITH the meds and inj's. it sets my level of pain right around a 3 so neither the...

What drug companies make oxycodone er and what pharmacies in San Francisco,CA.? ## What drug companies produce oxycodone er; besides Purdue of course? Thanks so very much - Memphis1-13-2011 ## I am sorry, but the controlled release formulation of Oxycodone, which is sold under the trade name Oxycontin is only manufactured by Purdue Pharma, there are no longer any generics available on the market. Even the ones provided by the Ethex Corporation are manufactured by Purdue and carry the same marking, they are just an authorized distributor. As to what pharmacies carry it, in any given area, since I am not in those areas, I don't know. However, calling them will usually not get you the correct answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a legitimate custome...
