I'm on 100mg of Topamax 3 times a day. I've been on it for over 2 years now. I day all 3 doses at once. I take it as a mood stabalizer. It also helps my migraines and assists in weight loss but I've noticed sever memory loss as the years go on. My husband has had to repeat whole conversations to me. Ones we've had just a week prior. It's been more and more noticeable in the last 12 months. Does anyone else share this issue? ## No, it isn't a listed side effect for this medication, but it is difficult to know how it may affect anyone taking it on a long-term basis, since we are all different. Have you discussed the problem with your doctor? Do you take any other medications? ## I was on topamax for weight loss and had four seizures and prior to taking this had nev...

Has anyone experienced sudden memory loss while taking Mounjaro? I noticed it a couple of weeks after starting. It was not the normal "aging" loss - it was more pronounced and happened suddenly. I know it could have been a TIA, but it did seem coincidental. ## Memory loss is not listed among the known side effects provided by the FDA nor the manufacturer of Mounjaro themselves [1]. Side effects typically include nausea, stomach pain, elevated heart rate, and heartburn. Ref: Mounjaro Information On the contrary, I did find a PubMed abstract concluding that “Tirzepatide (the active ingredient in Mounjaro) obviously exerts a protective effect against spatial learning and memory impairment, potentially through regulating abnormal insulin resistance and inflammatory responses....

I suffer from epilepsy & agree that Trioptal results in memory loss. I spoke to my doctor about this, and he advised Neurobion injections. I haven't tried that but my gut feeling is that that just might work. (completely counter the effects of Trioptal).

Please, has anyone else taken pregabalin and experienced lost of memory and words? I've been on it for 5 years and I'm really feeling messed up and can't remember what happened yesterday and stuff. ## Hello, Robbie! How are you? Yes, those are common side effects of this class of medications, as reported by the U.S. FDA. They tend to worsen the longer you're on them, too. Other typical side effects may include dizziness, headache and weight gain. Have you informed your physician? It may be time for you to try a different medication.

Does this medication work for treating memory loss? Also, what are the possible side effects associated with long term use? ## My mother has been suffering from cerebral atrophy for the past 6-7 years, and over the last year, she has started showing signs of Alzheimer's. Our doctor has prescribed her Cognix Plus thrice a day for the last 2-3 years. I'm confused about the exact use of Cognix Plus. Recently, another doctor advised me to discontinue its use. So, I would like to know whether it is safe to stop taking Cognix Plus after such a long period, or is it still necessary for her condition? I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter as soon as possible. Thank you.

I heard about a man who said that he thinks Lipitor made his wife get memory loss. Is this true as I think I have the same thing ## Me too, my memory loss just keeps getting worse ## That is not a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, but there is no way to be sure how any given medication will actually affect anyone that takes it, since we are all different. Its typical ones are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Has there been any change? Have you each consulted the prescribing doctors to see if there is another option you can try?

I am on 40 mg of viibryd. I am experiencing extreme memory loss. If i switch to another antidepressiant will the memory come back ## If it was caused by the Viibryd, then yes, it may come back if you stop taking it and try something else. I've suffered something similar from medications in the past and my memory has always returned to normal, after I stopped taking them....of course I'll never try them again, because that's quite an uneasy occurrence to deal with. My mother has been taking Bystolic 5 mg for a few years. She has also had problems with short term memory loss in that same time period. The memory problem is worsening and I'm worrying that she might be taking the Bystolic twice. If it has caused the memory issues to start with, a double dose would be a very bad thing. Has anyone else connected Bystolic with memory loss? There are mentions of it on numerous sites, but they all say don't go off Bystolic on your own. Any thoughts?? ## Hello, Becky! How are you? How old is your mother? NO, that is not a known side effect of the Bystolic. Is she on any other medications? Have you tried observing her take them to make sure she doesn't double up?

I have taken this drug for a year. I helps with the "got to go" symptoms but I find myself dizzy and forgetful. Can Sanctura do that to someone? ## Yes, Sanctura (Trospium) has been known to cause such issues as side effects, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, urinary retention, blurred vision, and dry skin. However, it would be best to consult your doctor to be certain of what's going on. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, you may need to try a different medication, or these symptoms might be unrelated to it. Are you on any other medications? Ref: Medline Plus

If you do go up to 600mm it may well ease your pain BUT in my case it produced amnesia which can be very disturbing if your not warned. Also the higher dose is only for a while and then 300mm will be as effective for pain.Be warned the come down from 600 to 300 should be done slowly. The side effects are similar to coming up on a pill with no benefit only hot flushes, confusion and disorientation ## Did you intend this as a response to someone else's post? If so, in the future, rather than making a completely new post, you can simply use the reply box that is directly under their post. If you do that, then they will be notified of your response. I took Lyrica for several years but quit taking it and switched to gabapentin which I took for several years. I took 300 mg x 3 daily and I have no short term memory and I can't think of the words I mean to say. I also took morphine and hydrocodone so I don't know which drug caused the memory loss. I now am off the opiates but take 100 mg gabapentin x2 daily for anxiety ## Both Lyrica and gabapentin are known for memory loss. Been on pain meds for years, but never had memory issues with them. Type in both Lyrica and gabapentin. You'll find you are far from alone. God bless. ## That is correct, Gabapentin is known to cause memory loss as a long-term side effect, according to pre-approval studies, and real world use reports. My husband died in our living room and I called 911. He was revived after they broke 3 ribs and had a major surgery and was hospitalized for weeks. When I panic I get short of breath. After Bill (husband) was taken to the hospital I had a panic attack and couldn't breathe. I called 911 and ended up in the hospital myself. At no time did anyone ask me about my history, what happened or anything. They just began giving me Prednisone. I had no idea what it was and took it. The take-down dose when I left the hospital was 20 mg three times a day for a certain period, then 10 mgs for another period and now I am down to 5 mgs per day and have been taking it for over a year. I have a really bad memory these past 5yrs. I've been taking gabapentin the past 7yrs, I also take oxycodone, oxymorphone, mobic and stopped taking valium and a muscle relaxer about a year ago. I don't consume cannabis anymore. It's been about 15 yrs since I have. But when I did smoke back in the day I smoked a lot for a good 10yrs. I've noticed lately that I cant remember anything. When someone introduces themselves I just totally forget 2 mins later. I have tried the trick where you say the person's name over 5x's or use it in a sentence to help remember. But to no avail. Even at work, I'm told 3 things to do, I only remember 2 of them, or when it's time to do a task at work I just totally forget. It's affecting my job and making me look very stupid...
