I have a constant headache and been prescribed these but am worried about side effects as I'm already feeling nauseous with headaches. I am also on chemo taxol weekly. ## Headache with nausea may suggest a migraine headache. If you are diagnosed with migraine by your physician, he/she may give you a prescription for a medication that specifically treats migraines. Such medications help alleviate both the headache and related symptoms, including nausea. I suggest you see your family doctor first. ## Hello, Jan! How are you? Since you're doctor has already prescribed the Meloxicam, you could try taking it with food or a snack to minimize the possible nausea and stomach irritation it can cause as side effects. Other, as listed by the FDA, may include dizziness and increased risk of...

Has anyone had history of migrains with this. I had a migrain issue that lasted for 11 days can this be from this? It has been helping with inflamation. Which is a big plus. I'm hoping this is a fluke but i m nervous abut starting up on it again? I do have a history of migrains prior to this med. Just wondering if this trigerd it? What other side effect should I watch for? ## Yes, given meloxicam 7.5mil back in June of 2009 when I had pain in the neck and had a headache. I started taking Meloxicam (15 mg) ten days ago for spondyloarthritis. I few days ago, I started having headaches and tension in my neck/shoulders. I read that you're not supposed to take iboprofen or other NSAIDS with it, so I took Tylenol instead to get rid of the headache, which worked. I also noticed that I was having bloating, belching, loose stools/diarrhea, and weight gain, despite diet and exercise. In fact, while I was doing my walking yesterday (roughly 3 miles or so in an air conditioned mall), I started feeling a little lightheaded and getting winded easier than I should have. Afterwards, on my way home, I stopped by the grocery store and was still feeling a little strange and when I reached the blood pressure machine I decided to check mine. It was high for me: 161/90+ ...

What happens if someone takes too much Meloxicam? Like more than 30+ mg. What are the side effects and will they be okay? ## This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so on top of the risk of overdose, taking to much of it could result in stomach ulceration, liver damage, and liver failure, according to the NIH. If you know someone has done so, it is best to get them medical attention, as soon as possible. Is there anything else I can help with?

My Meloxicam expired 2 year's ago. I work in a pharmacy and know how to store it, so my question is can I take it again? I've been having issues with my elbow and ibuprofen isn't helping. Thank you ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? It does not become dangerous, once expired, but medications do slowly lose effectiveness over time. More so, if they are exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture. Your doctor may okay you taking it, even though it's expired, but ideally it would be best to obtain a new prescription. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Have you had your elbow checked out? That would be the best thing to do, so you can disco...

I've been prescribed meloxicam 15 mg one daily. After taking the pill at night it does make me sleep a little bit better for a little longer time but I wake up feeling like I've been dosed. I"m a 70 year old female. Very active. Runner, short triathlons, lift weights and otherwise have a very active (hard working) lifestyle. I have been taking 15mg. Meloxicam tablet on average about two per week for about 6 years. Of course, I"m concerned about the side effects I"ve read about for long term use. Does taking them only two per week mitigate these side effects even if I"ve been taking them for a long period of time? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? There is still some slight risk, but most of what you read about are effects from daily long-term use, not occasional. That's why others, such as Ibuprofen are available over the counter. The most common include liver damage, stomach damage, increased risk of bleeding and stomach ulceration. Is there anything else I...

## I am having problems when I started taking this drug, now that i am off it it has left severe back problem in which i need help out of bed every morning. ## The problem could actually be caused by your stopping the drug abruptly. Since it reduces inflammation, it might have been reducing it in an area of your spine where you have damage or swelling and then by stopping it, your body is unprepared to regulate that condition on its on, kind of a withdrawal effect, and the pain and inflammation has gotten worse. I would recommend speaking to your doctor so they can check out the problem and see exactly what is causing it.

my sister-in-law took both pills together and started stroke like symptoms. can they cause this if taken together? ## Hello, Christina! Sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's problem. How is she doing?
