was on medroxyprogest 10mg for 21 days due to bleeding from the uterus. I finished all the pills but still spotting slightly. Is this normal? I am 67 years old. No doctor over the years have ever suggested this type of meds. Been fine in health until these last few years. Have been under a lot of stress so don't know if this has anything to do with the bleeding. Seen a OBGYN who prescribed these meds but since then have been in the process of moving to another town. Once we are in our new home in a week I plan to go to the hospital to get a reference to a new GYB. Have any suggestion on what I should do for the spotting. ## I have been bleeding for a hold month and these pills not working ## Both of you need to consult your respective doctors. Even after menopause, you can still acc...

I'm on this injectible and have recently lost my job causing it to be difficult to pay for the perscription. The last time I didn't take it at the time it was due (I went off for a short period of time), I ended up in emergency with MAJOR abdominal pain. I could not stand up straight. My question is, does your company help people who are financially struggling like some other companies do? ## this site does not prescribed nor sell prescription drugs, so I am sorry, we cannot help you. I am guessing you intended to contact the manufacturer. Do you happen to know the name of the company that makes the one you use? ## Yes...I guess I thought you were the manufacturer. Since you are not, NO I don't know who they are. Can you help me with that? ## No, I am sorry, Generic medicati...

Medroxyprogesterone (INN, BAN), also known as 17α-hydroxy-6α-methylprogesterone, and abbreviated as MP, is a steroidal progestin drug which was never marketed for use in humans.[1] An acylated derivative, medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), is clinically used as a pharmaceutical medicine.[2] Compared to MPA, MP is over two orders of magnitude less potent as a progestogen.[3] As such, MP itself is not used clinically, though it has seen limited use in veterinary medicine under the tra...

How are you? Yes, progesterone is vital to both a normal menstrual cycle and your ability to get pregnant. So my doctor prescribed me medroxyprogesterone 10mg (provera) for 5 days to start AF. I have only taken 2 pills, and woke up this morning and when I wiped, it was brown. It is very stretchy and very mucous like (almost like ewcm except with brown). I am supposed to take my 3rd pill at noon today. Just wondering, is this normal to start bleeding before I have even finished my pills? Last period was October 26th. ## Hello, Adri! How are you? Yes, this is a type of hormone, so it can cause some spotting, while you're taking it. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA may include nausea, headache, irritability, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello. I have not had a period for about a year. I had was prescribed with medroxyprogesterone 10mg take 1 tabl...

How are you? You should have yourself checked for pregnancy, before taking them. If you take them for a few days, then stop, the sudden drop off could cause a miscarriage if you are pregnant. Can you get a home kit to check yourself?

Was prescribed for heavy vaginal bleedingand irregular periods. ## HOW WILL PROVERA HELP ME WITH HEAVY BLEEDING, CLOTTING TAKEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH OVRAL? ## Provera contains a synthetic form of Progesterone, which is a hormone vital to the female menstrual cycle. In many cases, issues such as amenorrhea, PMS, PCOS/PCOD and the symptoms associated with perimenopause/menopause are caused by a deficiency in it. Thus, supplementing it back can help correct the issues. You can learn more Provera details here. Since this one is a synthetic form, it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes and headache. And something such as Ovral is often given to help try to keep your hormones regulated long-term, once you are finished with the Provera. Are there any comments and qu...

Hi my doctor prescribe me to take medroxyprogesterone for not having my menstrual for almost 3 months 10mg for 10 days i took my last pill December 5 how long would it take for me to come on? In do the pill really work. Thanks ## Hello, Keisha! How are you? Your period should start within 24 to 48 hours of finishing them. Did you start, yet? This is a hormonal medication that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and breakthrough bleeding. And yes, they do work for many women, but I can't say whether or not they will work for you. It depends on what's causing you to skip your periods. Are they normally irregular? ## I took provera 10mg for 10 days to start my period. I haven't had 1 in over a year. I had intercourse 3 times while taking th...

I am a 26 yr old female and after almost a year of not having a normal period (my period is 1-2 days of light old blood) I went to my ob. She put me on medroxyprogesterone to kickstart my period and then once I had my period to take clomid. (She doesn't believe I'm ovulating and me and my husband are trying to get pregnant. )The directions on the medicine said to take for 10 days and then I'd start my period 3-7 days after my last dose. After 15 days of no period I called my doctor and she prescribed another round of medroxyprogesterone. I'm worried. Is it normal to have to take 2 rounds of medroxyprogesterone to kick start your period? ## Hi, Kasey! Sorry about the problems that you're having. Have you used any of kits that can let you know if you're ovulating o...

We are trying to get pregnant, but I don't have natural periods. So, I was told to take Medroxypr Ac 10 mg every day for 10 days to start my period. My question is, after I've taken the last pill, when will I actually start my period? (in how many days) ## There is really no precise count that you can rely on, it may be the day after you take your last pill, or it may take several more days, it really all depends on your own body and how it reacts to the hormones. You're period may also be unusual, when it does arrive, you may bleed less or more than usual. It could also lengthen it or shorten its duration. Hormones can work differently on different people, which is why its difficult to determine which way any one person may go. Are there any other questions or comments? ## ...

Hello! I am a 25 year old mother of 2. I was just prescribed Medroxyprogesterone 5mg as a trial to my unpredictable menstural cycle as well as my massive breakouts just days before. This is a stupid question but for the directions, it says "Take 1 tablet twice daily on days 15 to 25 (10 tablets a month)". I have asked my doctor 3 times to help me understand the directions and I still don't quite get it. If I start my period May 1st and end on may 5th, when do I start taking these ?

Hello All, I have been using femilon since one month... I am experiencing severe hair loss.. I consulted my dermatologist and she told me that if your contraceptive pills contain medroxyprogesterone it triggers hair loss.... so does femilon contain medroxyprogesterone ? ## To be accurate, hair loss can be a side effect of most synthetic hormones and that is what is used in these oral contraceptives. However, it is usually related to the artificial estrogens, not the artificial forms of progesterone, in most people. Femilon contains ehtinylestradiol (an artificial estrogen) and desogestrel (an artificial progesterone). The reason many women suffer hair loss during perimenopause and menopause is due to the fact that their progesterone levels drop off, when they stop ovulating, but their e...

I have been having super heavy periods all my life. It's usually been controlled by the pill, but the one that worked for me was pulled off the market. Last year, I literally bled from Jan Sept. With just a few days of no bleeding. I finally (I'm stubborn) went to the dr, and they gave me the Iud (mirena) That seemed to help, until this last few months. I hurt, hurt so bad, and bled like crazy. My body ended up expelling the iud and I instantly felt better. Unfortunately the bleeding came back with a vengeance. I went to the dr and couldn't see my Dr, he was out of town. The one Dr that I saw gave me a script for medroxyprogesterone. 10 MG daily. When I started taking it, I was told to try 1/2 a pull and I stopped bleeding, almost instantly. Now about 10 days later I started...

Hi, I've had abnormal periods since I was a teenager. At age 18 my gynecologist put me on provera/medroxyprogesterone, I've taken it every first 10 days of every month since then, and I am now 35 years old and still on this medicine. My doctor keeps telling me that I need to stay on it, to prevent uterine cancer, it runs in my family and if I don't take this medicine I won't get a period. My concern is the effect this medicine will have on my body after all these years of taking it. I keep reading that this medicine may increase my risk of breast and ovarian cancer. What do I do???? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? Wow! That's very unusual, most doctors will have you take it for awhile, then stop to see if your natural cycle kicks in. There's really no way for your d...

I was just prescribed this medication by my doctor, because of irregular periods. For the past 2 years I have had my period non-stop. It has not regulated or anything so she put me on this medication. What are the long term side effects of this? Does it decrease fertility? What? ## Hello, Lyla! How are you? No, it won't affect future fertility. Actually, this hormone is vital to your ability to get pregnant and maintain a healthy pregnancy to full term. Bleeding like you've been having is usually due to having too much estrogen and not enough progesterone, this is a form of progesterone to replace it for you to try to get the bleeding to stop. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, breast tenderness and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?
