Medicine For Spine Pain

I just moved to Fredericksburg/DC Metro area of Virginia from Florida. I have severe chronic spinal pain from bulging lumbar discs, bone spurs, spinal stenosis and scoliosis (in mid/upper spine). My doctor that was treating me in FL had me on 60mg MS Contin 2xday and 10mg Percocet 4xday. Which makes it able for me to function with a lowered amount of pain. I went through 3 other doctors over the years that prescribed too little or too much before I found him. I would like to find a doctor/pain clinic that will prescribe me the same or similar in/around the Fredericksburg/DC Metro area of Virginia as opposed to having to drive back to my Florida doctor every month. Does anyone know of any in these areas?

ANYONE taking Lyrica for NERVE PAIN due to a SPINAL DISORDER? The print-out from pharmacist says it is for peripheral neuropathy due to Diabetes and partial seizures adult onset and states it is not for any other nerve pain?? yet I was prescribed this for my severe nerve pain from my spinal disorder??? I was prescibed Lyrica for my nerve pain in my left leg and the doctor told me it takes at least 2 weeks to really get into your system. He also said that it is much better than Neurontin, which I am currently taking. Dont know about any side effects yet. But will let ya know. I have a lot of issues with my spine, and am constantly in pain if I'm not laying on my stomach. It's ruined my posture, and its ruining time I should be enjoying with my daughter. I have DDD, scoliosis, which is serious, have herniations and bulging discs in cervical spine and also in lumbar spine. I can't walk without cane. I went to doc today and she gave me a small dose of baclofen,5 mg bid. Will this help my pain? I am taking generic oxycodone 30 mg every 4-6 hours as needed. I used to take oxycontin 20 mg, up to 5 times a day, it worked very well, but I can't take this now, because my medicare will not pay for it. ## Baclofen is a muscle relaxant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. It is used to treat the pain associated with muscle strains and spasms. I have just moved here five weeks ago from Birmingham, Alabama. I now find that I cannot get a doctor to prescribe the pain medications that I have been using for some five years. I have had three cervical surgeries and one lumbar surgeries. I have among other things, degeneration of the spine. I also have a list of about seven other maladies that I can't begin to name because of their names. I am in constant severe pain without my Exalgo and Hydromorphone. I will run out in ten days and I'm told that I won't be able to even get into a doctor who prescribes these types of meds for at least five weeks. What do they expect me to do in the meantime? My Doctor who prescribed pain medicines in IL died. A new provider took over that pain management clinic and now wants to reiterate me off opiate medication give me nurontin also called gabapentin and give me a pain pump regardless that the specialists in California do not recommend procedures directed at my spine rather recommend conservative theropy and opiate medication for multi level degenerative disc disease in the cervical thoractic and lumbar with spinal stenosis which I've been diagnosed with since 2003 . I am going through therapy for my back and need spine surgery. I have been taking percocet for the past year now and my Dr wants to change my medication. He suggested something that starts with the letter N but didnt spell it right for me. Does anyone know of pain medication that starts with that letter. My physician has suggested using this steroid in conjunction with my marcaine injections into my paravertebral lumber nerves. Any thoughts? ## Run as fast as u can! after being given this drug for a short period I developed avascular necrosis of both hips. I also have bowel and bladder disfunction as well as neurological issues. Please read all lit. on this subject, and dont believe it is safe. also drug is known to cause a condition that causes the spine to rot. do not take any steroids in epidural or caudel form near your spine. they r not fda approved meaning steroids for use near the spine.

I was prescribed Percocet in the hospital. In the hospital they were giving me 2 every 4 hours. I continued that at home. Today when I ran out I looked at the bottle and I was supposed to switch to one every 4 hours. They also prescribed Norco 5 for after I finished the Percocet, so since I didn't have any I started the Norco today. I am in pain and they aren't working. I didn't sleep at all last night. What do I do? ## You don't say what mg the Percocets were but Norco is a totally different medication, it is not as strong as the Percocets. In my experience Advil works better than Norcos. ## The percocets were 5 and the norcos are 5. I have had gastric bypass so I cannot take NSAIDS. My oncologist thinks I take too much pain meds, 130 mg MS Contin , dilaudid 4mg, and Percocet for break through pain every 4 hours. The MS Contin is 2 times daily. After I take the MS Contin I start getting breakthrough pain about 1 1/2 hours. He said there is no way I can take that and be awake. Had to sign contract no one else can prescribe me pain meds. I started nuvigil 1/4 of 150mg tablet or 37mg in the morning. The first two weeks were great , it was like my mind was awake(but I my body still felt tired-CFS/ME) then the muscles in the back of my neck near my spine started to feel extreme muscle pain, then the neck pain grew to pain along my entire spine , from my neck along my spine to my low back, 8 out of 10 pain and stiffness along this area, then by the next week, the pain and stiffness was across my entire back , top to bottom and spread out to the sides of my spine. I am stopping Nuvigil today as I have linked my back pain , spine muscle pain, and neck pain to Nuvigil , and I only took 1/8 of a 150 mg tablet today, or 18 mg today . Hi, I've been on Gabapentin for about a year for back pain (I have DDD and arthritis in spine and back) I'm taking five pills a day...600mg each. I've recently been told by (family and friends) that this is a dangerous amount I'm on and they're worried. I have osteoarthritis all over and cannot take anti-inflammatories. I have been in pain management for years but the doctor recently changed and the new one wants to do stuff like burn the nerves off my spine and run a wire up my spine and into my neck for a permanent tens unit. I do not want to do these procedures! I do not (and never have) abused drugs and always take them as directed. I need a pain doctor that will prescribe a long acting (extended release) like Opana or Oxycontin AND Norco or Percoset 10/325 for break thru pain. AND one that will not try to do dangerous procedures on me!
