Currently take the medication Alprazolam looking for nformation other similar meds ## info on others meds ## Do you mean medications in the same class, which would be other Benzodiazepines? If so, you can learn more about them and the other options available here: If you are looking for alternative medications, that may not cause the same side effects, you can learn about them here, under the medication treatment section: Are there any other questions or comments?

I had several medical issues in a short period of time: Prostate cancer, duodenal cancer, spinal stenosis, regular kidney stones, and basal cell carcinoma. It started with prostate cancer and within 3 months a deodunal cyst. The severe anxiety began & followed with the others mentioned above. I had 4 different psychotherapists that did little. Other than Cognitive Behavioral Therapy I did get help, but not completely. I tried several ssri's & snri' - too many to mention, that caused more problems. Finally my psychiatrist prescribed anti-anxiety medication that did the trick for me. Currently, I take Diazepam regularly, and it keeps my anxiety problems manageable. If I had to continue to read the negativity of Benzodiazepines I'd be a goner; as far as anti-depressants...

my question is I was on lorazapan for anxiety but the drowsiness got me in trouble is their any anxiety medication that won't cause drowsiness. I told my Dr. not to prescribe it for me anymore. My question is, I need something, is their anything else I can take. ## Hello, Eileen! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you've had. You may do better with one of the SSRI antidepressants that can be used to treat anxiety, such as Prozac or Zoloft. They've both been successful at helping many people with anxiety, but since you take them all the time, your body gets used to the medications and the side effects, such as drowsiness, wear off after a few weeks. Other side effects may include nausea, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Ihave been taking xanax the past 18 years only as needed. This medication not only helps with my severe anxiety and anger problems. My current doctor for the past 2.5 years has been giving me xanax to take twice a day for a 30 day supply and this usually last me about 6months. Well my PCP has been instructed by his NP that new guidelines state he cant prescribe xanax but klonopin is ok. Is this truely a guidline in MS or simply a recommendation? As I can not find any literature confirming this. Although the klonopin is working ok it takes hours for my anger to subside when it would be immediate with xanax. My other complaint is that klonopin has a longer half life and remains in my body longer than xanax causing me to be extremely sleepy the morning after taking the klonopin but never h...

Being a pain patient for 20+ years, and having panic attacks daily have given me the knowledge of every medication and how they work or do not work. ## Hi Aeon, How's it going? Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time out to help others with your extensive background as pain/anxiety patient. I realize there are a lot of other people on here who just want to help, but can't always understand what these patients really go through enough to offer the right kind of advice - that ideally a doctor should be giving.... But in my opinion, nothing really beats learning from 20+ years of first hand experience. I hope you're able to do a lot of good with that knowledge. ## Aeon, I am a recovering Tramadol addict. Been clean 5 1/2 mnths. To get off Tramadol the addiction psychiatri...

## PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS DRUG IS MOST COMINLY USED FOR ## See quoted text below: Atarax is an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of common anxiety and tension and, in combination with other medications, to treat anxiety that results from physical illness. It also relieves itching from allergic reactions and can be used as a sedative before and after general anesthesia. Antihistamines work by decreasing the effects of histamine, a chemical the body releases that narrows air passages in the lungs and contributes to inflammation. Antihistamines reduce itching and swelling and dry up secretions from the nose, eyes, and throat. ## my daughter has recently put on 25mg of atarax she isonly 11yrs old and was 10 at the time it was perscribed to her. she had been having panic attacks, ...

What medications are the most prescribed anxiolytics? Is there a list I can refer to? I am also interested in the differences in prescribing between countries. Any ideas Verwon? ## Hmmm.....I'm thinking. Usually, prescription drug sales are broken down by year, so I think you'd really have to look at one of the top 100 or top 200 lists and then just comb through for the ones used for anxiety. All of the relevant lists for 2011 are up by now, it will be a long time before any for 2012 are available, so I'd suggest starting with the 2011 top prescribed drugs lists. As to how to sort by country and find the differences there, I'm sorry, but I am not aware of a way to do that. Many countries don't keep records that are up to date and accurate, so it's very hard to br...

I live in central new jersey, and lost my dr. of 10 years. I did 5 years in physical therapy for some issues. I am now forced to leave my dr. and desperately need another immediately. I need him/her to prescribe my xanax and restart my pain pills. I will be out of xanax in a week. Please help me find a doctor who will easily prescribe these medications. ## Hello, Suzie! How are you? Why are you leaving your current doctor? Due to the new regulations that were put in place, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see specialists. Can anyone recommend good doctors in that area? ## Had to leave her because we became personal friends and she has become way too involved in my life. It's complicated but this leaves me in an awful position. Besides ...

Do you have a list of medications that will make you itch? I'm on six different types of medication. They are for depression, asthma, anxiety, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Any advice to help stop the itching? Can't sleep. ## Hello, Rachel! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Unfortunately, I can't state which one might be causing it, just based on the classes of the medications, nor can I possibly list all the medications that could cause itching, the FDA has far too large of a list. Can you please post back with the names of the actual medications you are taking? If so, I will be very happy to check the side effect information for you. Thanks!

I have very bad anxiety and panic attacks xanax seem to be the only thing to help I need a prescription. .please help! I live in monroe la. ## Please see a doctor who can make the decision as to what medicine would be appropriate for you. You can mention that Xanax might work, hopefully you've had a prescription for them. A Doctor will frown on giving you medicine that you have used illegally in the past. ## What other medications have you tried? What has your doctor advised? The FDA warns that Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability, and mood changes. Ref: Xanax Information The addictive nature of it, and how frequently it is abused makes many doctors reluctant to prescribe it, unless all other treatment opt...

iIM suffering fromseversanxiety and panic attacks dailey any suggestions would be welcomed Thnx ## Have you consulted your doctor? Proper treatment depends on the severity of the symptoms. Many people end up using a combination of appropriate therapy, with a medication such as a Benzodiazepine. However, these medications do require a doctor's prescription.

I've been taking Quetiapine 25 mg for sleep and anxiety for about a week then halved the dose as it made me feel out of it the next day.. Half a tablet still helped me sleep but I still felt out of it the next day. Went back to work for two days, wasn't good being off driving to work and at work. Decided to stop taking it a few days ago. I didn't sleep. My head felt like strange pinging if that's the word for it. Felt like I lost complete control crying my eyes out, vomiting, heart beating fast, shakes... I was going to book myself into a hospital as I felt so out of control. Went and saw another doctor who gave me Alepam 15 mg which calmed me down and wants me to start on Aropax 20 mg. What should I do? Take these meds or go and book myself into a hospital and get check...

Hello. I was given a few Cogentin (Benztropine 2mg) for my anxiety. Does this medication help at all for anxiety? Any help would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you. ## No, it is not usually prescribed for anxiety, it is most commonly used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, as well as the side effects of some medications. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications? ## no. it may cover up the shakes from withdrawal. this is lousy to do.

I have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, with which grand mal seizures are not associated with. I have absence seizures, where you don't respond to someone calling you or you not responding to something or moving around but in a state of unable to know what you are doing. They only last a short time. They are not grand mal seizures like falling on the floor and flopping your body around and then afterwards need to sleep for long hours. I want to know which medications are good for this condition. I am on Clonazepam and Lamictal, which when they first went on the market were only for absence seizures not for anxiety or Bipolar depression like they are also now used for. Thank you for your anticipated help. ## Hello, Candy! How are you? Are your current medications working for you? Just because...

My wife was on phentermine, and then qsymia. She came off qsymia and is now full of anxiety and anger. Please help. ## Withdrawal effects can be normal, if someone abruptly stops a medication, she may also experience nausea, diarrhea and headache. Why did she stop taking it? These symptoms should go away after a few weeks, once her body gets used to no longer having the medication added. Is she on any other medications?

I have been prescribed Butalibital for headaches Cetirizine for my allergies Tizanidine for muscle spasms Quetiapine for restlessness And paroxetine for anxiety ## You should take them as prescribed by your doctor. Tizanidine is usually prescribed to be taken on an as needed basis, but the others are usually prescribed to be taken regularly as prevention methods. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, constipation and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?
