My husband was recently prescribed gabapentin 300 mg 1 cap at night for neuropathy. He took it one time and drank a beer about 3;00am the nest day around noon his face began to swell up on both sides and his mouth on the inside went numb. He took benedryl but continued to have swelling even 24 hours later. Could this be an allergic reaction? Thank you. Please use extreme caution when using this drug. My husband is a chronic pain sufferer. His pain doc prescribed it for him. It's very expensive. It also caused suicidal thoughts and tendencies. I recently had a major cervical and spine surgery. But still the pain is very severe with me taking 20mg of oxycodone every 3 hrs plus 1000 mg of Tylenol Extra every 6 hrs.
