My friend took 4 meclizine pills for dizziness and is concerned about how many can potentially attribute to an overdose. ## Hello, Nuttymatt! How is your friend doing? Did she suffer any adverse effects? The FDA classifies Meclizine as an antihistamine that is most commonly used to treat or prevent nausea, vomiting and dizziness. Its typical side effects may possibly include drowsiness and dry mouth. One should never take more than their doctor has prescribed, or exceed the dosing instructions on the package. An overdose could result in coma and death, though it would be very rare.

This was prescribed to take 4 times a day for pain but when I looked it up its for motion sickness etc. Confused!! ## Yeah... mostly an anti-nausea, airsick med. ## Thx Midiman...not sure they are gonna help my pain but will see. I guess it'll help w the nausea cas I'm sick of being in pain. Also since they look like Norcos maybe i can convince myself they are helping!! ## @cg, I actually read somewhere online that Meclizine could be used to potentiate opioids in order to maximize their pain relieving effects. So in that sense it does seem appropriate to say it helps with pain. But if he didn't prescribe you anything else, I would probably question his proposed decision to use an antihistamine for analgesic effects. Are you taking any other type of medication or supplement a...

I was taking a drugstore brand of meclizine, 25 mg non-chewable tablets. It worked great to control my nausea. When I ran out of the non-chewable tablets, I bought chewable Bonine. To my dismay, almost immediately after chewing the Bonine I became nauseated, and the nausea lasted almost 24 hours. To make sure it was not a fluke, I took chewable Bonine the next day and had the same reaction. Then I switched back to the non-chewable tablets and got relief from my nausea. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know why the chewable form of meclizine might cause nausea when the non-chewable form does not? If I swallowed the Bonine tablets instead of chewing them, would I still get nauseated? (I haven't tried this yet.) ## 12 hours after I took the chewable fom of Bonine I also be...

Blood pressure 159 over 105. I got really dizzy last tuesday. Due to death in family my blood pressure shot sky high around what it is now. Should I take these medicines? I also have asthma. I use inhalors to help me breathe easier. I've never had high blood pressure before last tuesday. ## What has your doctor advised? There is some risk that the Meclizine may raise your blood pressure and heart rate, as well as the asthma inhalers, depending on what they contain. Is your blood pressure still elevated, or was it just a one time thing? ## Hi. I have been taking tramadol also and I usually don't have high blood pressure and this shot up my blood pressure. Your bp is supposed to be 120 over 80 and yours is very high so if you don't want to have a heart attack with ur bp being ...

I am a 19 yr old male, and am prescribed 12.5mg meclizine, three times a day, because i have vertigo. However, taking this makes me very tired. Do you think a doctor would prescribe me something like adderall to counter the drowsiness that I am experiencing? ## Adderall is not likely as it is strictly controlled and addictive. You would most likely be prescribed Modafinil which is used for Excessive Daytime Sleepiness and Narcolepsy. ## An important question is, how long have you been taking it? Meclizine is an antihistamine that is commonly used to treat or prevent nausea and vertigo. However, most of these medications reach their peak of side effects at around 4 to 6 weeks of use and then, as your body gets used to the drug, the side effects should start to lessen in severity. I have been prescribed Meclizine for dizziness, and it is working fine on that part. I was wondering if there was any weight gain side effects from this medication. I am on others that to have that as a side effect, but I just think that I am gaining too much weight too fast, and was wondering if this was also a weight gainer. Thank you so much for your input. ## Meclizine is an antihistamine, that can also be used to treat anxiety, dizziness, nausea, and as a mild sedative. That said, yes, weight gain can be a side effect of most antihistamines, when they are taken regularly. Other side effects may include headache, drowsiness, and dry mouth. What are the other medications that you are taking?

My sister took a Meclizine pill and a Meloxicam pill one after the other. I had to carry her cause she couldn't keep her balance, was dizzy, and felt nausea. Should she have taken them together? ## What were the dosages? Has she consulted a doctor? The Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and it can cause some nausea and dizziness, but the Meclizine should have helped with that. Her reaction sounds very extreme and unusual, so she definitely needs to consult a doctor about this.

Does anybody know any interactions between these 2 medications? ## Hello, Antonio! How are you? I didn't find any interactions or problems listed between these medications, but it is always best to double check to be sure.
