Methadone to MS Contin conversion

I worked with hospice for many years. If we changed pt from Methadone to MS Contin it was calculated at a 10/1 ratio. I was on 30 mg of Methadone but due to prolong q wave cardiologist felt med needed changed. I was put on MS Contin and the med tech argued that is a one to one conversion so my dose went up. When did the conversion change and why am I in such withdrawal and severe pain? ## Unfortunately, there is no definitive conversion between Methadone, and other opiates. However, the current ratio used is 1 to 4.7, this is taken from the NCBI Journal of Palliative Medicine. You may not be on the correct dose, at this time. Have you informed your doctor about the problems you're experiencing? The FDA warns that opioids carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effe......

Continued excessive menstruation after discontinuing Eliquis

I had a blood clot from surgery in July. My doc put me on Eliquis for 3 months where I bled excessively and nonstop. Even now after quitting, my periods last 2-4 weeks every month. It seems related. ## Hello, Holly! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. This medication has been known to cause that in women, as listed by the FDA, but it usually resolves a week or two, after it's been discontinued. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications? You may have a hormonal imbalance that needs to be corrected....

MS Contin Making Me Worse?!

I am a chronic pain patient of 13 years and untill about six months ago was taking Norco 10s 8-10 times daily with 3 Soma daily along with 2 Fioricet a day. Then my Doc switched me to 3 60mg of MS Contin a day. I feel even worse now then I did before all the pain meds! It's like this horrble mussle ache and weekness that naggs at me all day and night, no matter what I do I cant seem to get comfortable and my sister/roommate says I have become a lot more rude and cold towards her and other people. I agree with her because everyone has been irritating to me and I have completely lost my sex drive. My Doc is of no help because I find it hard to explain to him what I am feeling. I hope I did a good enough job of it now as I hope someone here can help me. Can the MS Contin be making me f......

Is Oxycontin the same as MS Contin?

My best friend, who introduced me to her surgeon that performed my 360 fusion, was recently forced to return to PM due to pain from numerous back problems including but not limited to Bone spurs, bulging discs, curvature of the spine and more..., Her PM clinic is about an hour away from mine. Anyhow, he had her on Oxycodone 15 MG IR 4 times a day and he recently added Oxycontin 30mg ER twice a day due to her not having much relief from just the 15 mg pills. It made all the difference in her level of pain and I had my friend back :) When she went to fill at the pharmacy (CVS) she has always used due to them being next door to the clinic, she was told she would have to go to a pharmacy in her county (next exit down) as could no longer fill for her out of county (we are in TN and first we ......

Will Methadone And Ms Contin Show Up The Same In Ua

I take 200mg ms contin plus 30mg instant release ms contin for break thru pain. Will methadone show up different than ms contin in UA? And how long will methadone stay in my system? ## Yes, they would be detectable as different substances. MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine, which is a different narcotic than Methadone. Most narcotics are usually detectable for a urine test for 4 to 5 days, after taking them, though this can vary, depending on your individual metabolism, activity levels, how much you've taken and how frequently. Are there any other questions? ## Methadone is completely different than morphine.... And methadone stays in your system 2 to 3 times longer. Depending on personal factors such as metabolism, water intake and such morphine generally shows up i......

Show me a picture of the MS contin 30mg

I got switched from the 30 mg Morphine ER to MS Contin 30 mg. Is there any difference in these two pills? And they switched my 15 mg Morphine ER to 15mg immediate release. Is there any difference between these two pills? If they are my insurance will pay for it. Please let me know. ## Hi Jeffrey - Technically speaking those two pills should contain the same dosage of Morphine (the active ingredient). While I don't have a picture to show you, the 30mg MS Contin Extended release should be round a purple with either the marking "M 30" or "PF M30" depending on which company labeled the prescription. As far as switching from 15 mg ER to immediate release, yes, there is a difference in that the immediate release should take effect more quickly but not last as long. Are you......
