I am suffering from cellulitis following a hip operation in December. The ulcer/sore is in the back of my leg near the shin bone, making it difficult for me to see or treat. have I spent 9 days in hospital in January on an Intravenous drip, which ruled out DVT & have taken 2 lots of antibiotics but the problem is still with me, So can you suggest what I do next, it is so sore & painful. ## What else has your doctor recommended for further treatment options? The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you on any other medications?

Dynabac Dirithromycin

Dirithromycin is a macrolide glycopeptide antibiotic.[1] Dirithromycin (Dynabac) is a more lipid-soluble prodrug derivative of 9S-erythromycyclamine prepared by condensation of the latter with 2-(2-methoxyethoxy)acetaldehyde. The 9N, 11O-oxazine ring thus formed is a hemi-aminal that is unstable under both acidic and alkaline aqueous conditions and undergoes spontaneous hydrolysis to form erythromycyclamine. Erythromycyclamine is a semisynthetic derivative of erythromycin in w...

Allergic to penicillin does Azitromicina contain any? ## Hi alton, Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It does NOT contain any Penicillin, nor is it related to Penicillin. Azithromycin is actually a derivative of Erythromycin, so as long as you aren't allergic to Erythromycin as well, it seems to me that you shouldn't have any problems. Here is a study from The US National Library of Medicine for added validation, discussing the safety of Azithromycin in patients who have a known allergy to Penicillin: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8001336 I hope this helps!

What atiovbiotics are safe to use with Tikyson? ## Hi Sue, From what I could gather, there are certain macrolide antibiotics and certain quinolone antibiotics that interact with Tikosyn (Dofetilide); however the prescribing label for this medication does not mention which antibiotics fall into these two categories and which one's don't. In this case, if you are looking into using a specific antibiotic, your doctor should know based on your medical records that certain one's may interact with your current medication(s). I would however suggest reminding him/her of this possible interaction just to play it safe when you are being prescribed something. I hope this advice helps!
