My kitten is 12 weeks 6 days old. He had a bad fall. The vet perscribed this medication. When I give this liquid he goes on a choking spree for about 15 min. The medication is sticky. What can I do to help this? ## I see this was posted awhile ago and I hope by now your kitten is feeling better. However, for future reference, when you have questions about an animal and medications, please contact your veterinarian. Our website and my own knowledge and studies specialize in the use of medications in humans. We have no information on their use in animals, or what is safe to do to remedy such issues. How is he doing, now?

I'm new to Fort Myers and live in Cape Coral. My old doc gave me norco 10/325 for sciatica and .25 Xanax for anxiety. I don't have insurance yet and I need to find a doc who takes cash or Medicaid and is understanding. I will travel if need be. ## Hello, Kitty! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see specialists. So, you're most likely going to have to establish a relationship with a new PCP and then have them refer you to someone else. Both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability and headache. The days of an understanding doctor that you can just walk into and have write ...

Hi, My name is Cynthia. And 3 weeks ago my doctor started me on Fluoxetine (prozac) and then 4 days I started taking methadone for my headaches and recently between the two I started itching badly, so I was wondering if It was the prozac or methadone? I looked up the side effects for prozac and one of them are itching, but so is One of the effects to the methadone! And it is my whole body not just one spot! Help me! Please/thank you so much ## Kittykat96, Although Prozac can cause localized itching methadone is notorious for causing full body itching that can become relentless. Methadone is a synthetic narcotic opiod and like traditional opiates it shares that propensity to cause itching. Contact your prescriber he may be able to adjust or eliminate one or the other . Hope that helps an...

My doctor prescribed triamcinolone acetonide cream,0.1 for a burning sensation in my tongue which I got after getting a bridge done . I have to apply two times a day. I am concern that if will have any bad effect on me?. I paste it on my tongue and it felt like a thick paste and very unpleasant taste. ## Hello, Kitty! How are you doing? Are you sure that you're supposed to be using it in your mouth? This is usually used topically on the skin and not taken internally. Have you consulted your dentist? That might be a better idea to find a solution to this issue.

I have been taking estra/noreth 0.5 for a little over a month for menapausal symptoms. I havent had a period for 5 years and started bleeding. I know that breakthrough bleeding is a side effect but was wondering if this is temporary or will happen every month? ## Hello, Kitty! How are you? Sorry about the bleeding, I know that's something we certainly don't want back, once it stops! Since you are post-menopausal, any bleeding should be checked by your doctor just to be safe and make sure that it's only being caused by the HRT. However, it most likely is nothing to worry about, it happens to most women when they take HRT and it usually only happens once. Even though you are menopausal, your body still produces estrogen, which does cause buildup of the endometrial lining...

I Have a bottle of Hydroxychor 200mg tabs with an expiration date of 10/13. Are these pills still effective enough to take or do I need to get a new prescription? ## Since they do start to lose effectiveness over time, it would be best to just dispose of them and get a new prescription. You can even have your pharmacy dispose of them for you, or use the FDA disposal instructions that say you should mix them in with some undesirable substance, such as used kitty litter or coffee grounds, then place them in a sealed container in the garbage. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking suboxone for 2 years. Out of nowhere I just recently (2 weeks) developed what appears to be contact dermatitis. It started as a single red itchy spot and has spread ferociously over the last 2 weeks. Nothing has changed dosage wise. I also took in two foster kittens but the first red spot occurred before the kittens came and I have owned cats my entire life. Is it possible to develop an allergy to suboxone at random? There is no other side effects, no swelling of face or tongue no nausea or dizziness. The dermatitis (we'll call it) is only on my torso and arms. I just need to know if it's even possible to develop an allergy to this after being on it for so long? It doesn't make sense. Please help! ## Hello, James! How are you? I'm sorry about the probl...

I have a prescription for HYDROCODONE APAP 5-500 TABLMCK that has a discard date of 2010. Are these still safe to use? If not, what is recommended method of disposal? ## They don't get dangerous past the expiration date, but they do lose effectiveness, so they are most likely worthless by now. The recommended FDA method of disposal is to mix them with some undesirable substance, such as used coffee grounds, or used kitty litter and then to place that in a sealed container in the garbage. Learn more Vicodin details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks for the info. I will use your suggestion as to disposal.

There can be severe health dangers from your potassium being either too high or too low, so the high dose supplements are only available via prescription. Is there anything else I can help with?

Looking for a place where I can order generic Famvir (Famciclovir) over the counter. Silly as may sound, I have several cats/kittens (rescue) with kitty colds (feline herpes virus) & best treatment is Famvir. Literally amazing how quickly & well it works, often without need to give antibiotics (since FHV is a viral illness, but it can lead to secondary infections in which case antibiotics may be warranted). Since many know I do rescue, several send me their left over meds commonly used on felines, however at moment none happen to have any Famvir (Famcyclovir). My vet has written scripts several times in past without need to bring in for actual visit, as he is well aware I do rescue & my only income is SSDI, however his wife who manages office is a stickler for enforcing offi...

Prednisone for my cat. Can prednisone 5 mg for humans be substituted for the cat since medications are running low? ## Prednisone will kill cats. It's for dogs only according to my vet. The one for cats is called Prednisolone 5 mg. ## In veterinary manuals, it is warned this it should be avoided in pregnant cats, and kittens, but it can be used in adult cats, if your vet approves. There are risks associated with giving any medication to you pet, just like there are with people, but both Prednisolone and Prednisone can be used in cats and dogs. However, your vet really has the final say on that, so I would suggest asking them, just to be careful. Your cat may not need a longer course of it, or they may want to explore a different treatment option. How is your cat doing?

Pills were found on the ground & an open medicine bottle with the name torn off. Found on school property. How should I dispose of them? ## Hello, Kat! How are you? Th FDA disposal instructions say that they should be mixed with some undesirable substance, such as damp used coffee grounds or dirty cat litter, placed in a sealed container such as a coffee can and then disposed of with your regular garbage. Alternatively, you can take them to any pharmacy and they will dispose of them for you. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Pharmacies may no longer do that. When my husband died, I tried to take his meds to our CVS for disposal, but they wouldn't take them. I did the kitty litter thing (it doesn't have to be "dirty" kitty litter). The hospice nurse said to m...

Hi, I've been taking Szetalo 10mg for 1 year and now I want to stop or at least reduce the frequency in which I take this tablet. I'm hoping to avoid certain side effects like weight gain, drowsiness, dry mouth etc. I had stopped taking it for only 5 days and later felt dizzy and fainted. How can I safely get off of this medication? ## HI, Kittu! Sorry about the problem that you're having. Szetalo contains the active ingredient Escitalopram and these antidepressants usually needed to be very slowly tapered to prevent the type of withdrawal effects that you experienced, as well as possible rebound depression and anxiety. The preferred method recently has been to have the patient start skipping days, such a taking it for a day then skipping a day. That is done for a week or so...

This pill I found says west-ward 292 on it and 750 mg. What would be the best way to safely dispose of them? Found about 15 in a Ziploc bag while doing some cleaning in a house for sale. The people who lived there must have left them. It was written on the bag what they were but I don't know what to do with them. ## Abiding by safe FDA disposal practices, you have 2 options... The first would be to put them in with some undesirable substance, such as used kitty litter, or coffee grounds. Place the whole mess into a sealed container, then put it in with your regular trash. I've disposed of some, before, by putting them in a jar containing soapy water, sealing it, to let them start dissolving, then tossing it in the trash. The second option is taking them to a nearby pharmacy and ...
