I had a script for 90 xanax. Pharmacist gave me 60 but is making me wait for the other 30 days. Are they allowed to do this? When this has happened before, I got more pills the following day. What is the law? ## andy, what is the reason he gave you for having to wait on the remaining 30 ? What are the directions on the prescription ? ## Dave. Three a day, but the pharmacist never informed me. He shills have stated he was short and to keep me safe he wanted me to wait. I would have understand If. I was treated like a piece of dirt. I have been clean from drugs for years and suboxone saved my life. I'm 52. Dignity is my issue... ## andy, it is common for pharmacist to do that. As long as you only take them as prescribed, you won't run out.

I live in New Jersey and with the resent changes in the Vicodin laws I am wondering I know you can no longer get refills but is there a restriction on the amount they can prescribe a month ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? I understand your confusion and I'm happy to help. And yes, there is also a limit on how much they can prescribe. Exceptions are only made for those that suffer intractable pain from a possibly fatal condition, such as stage 4 cancer. But for everyone else, the reasons why it can be prescribed, how much can be prescribed and how often it can be prescribed to be dosed are all restricted. Additionally, since it is now a schedule 2 medication, most PCPs cannot prescribe it, except in certain specific circumstance. Most people needing it will have to see a specialist. Thi...

I just noticed my prescription bottle says federal law prohibits refill. It is Norco 7.5 /325mg .Why does it say this? ## Hello, Darlene! How are you? This medication was changed to a schedule 2 drug last year (2014), so you can no longer have refills on it. You'll need to see your doctor each month, just like you would with any other narcotic, to have more prescribed. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

This new law is complete bulls***! I have to drive over an hour just to get my medication refilled. I am not like all the others who have 3 and 4 different meds to fill. I only have the one as I told my doctor I did not want to be on a bunch of meds that I would become hooked on but this is just a bigggg pain in the ass to have to call every walmart and pharmacy in town and 2 towns out just to get a script filled. this is just a waste of time. And costing us as patients more money as my doctor has now moved my appointments to every other month instead of every 3 months and I am a cash paying customer as I have no insurance to help with anything. Someone needs to give the DEA a brain and let them see all the trouble they are putting those of us who are responsible with our medications th...

i was on soma approx 10yrs then 1 1/2yrs ago my dr said she couldnt write prescriptions for them anymore i have taken 5 different relaxers and nothing works like soma. why cant i get them now? ## Well a couple years back Soma was re classified as a schedule 4 medicine and many Doctors don't like to write for it. Funny thing, I have had 3 doctors since the new law prescribe me Soma, go figure! ## Soma is the most commonly abused muscle relaxant, because it is so potent. And Eddy is correct, it was changed to a schedule IV controlled substance several years ago. As such, to have them prescribed on any long-term, ongoing basis, you'd need to be seeing a specialist, such as a pain management physician. ## Can soma be prescribed with oxycodone? ## Very doubtful with the new regulatio...

my doctor told me today that he cant taper me off methadone because its against the law??wtf huh!! ## Are you seeing a general practitioner? If so, the real issue is that he can't continue to prescribe it, or handle tapering or anything for a chronic pain patient that requires ongoing treatment. Under the new laws, if you require long-term pain management, you will have to switch to a pain management specialist. A general practitioner can only prescribe such medications for a short period of time, such as right after someone has had surgery, or been in an accident. Learn more Methadone details here. Is it the only medication you're on?

Does anyone know about a new law that people ok over 62 can no longer b d prescribed for anyone over 62 for Xanax & Robxin by primarily y care doctor. That is what happened when I went to my 6 months appointment Thursday. I am 65 & I don't feel I am a fall risk. I am a young 65. Never have had any problems with these drugs & don't abuse them. Don't understand not doing on an individual basis not putting all over 62 people all together. I have had Gastric bypass & most drugs don't work well for me. Doctor gave me 3 meds to replace & can't take any of them, especially Effessor that is a time release capsule which with Gastric bypass it moves so fast you get hit hard & then it is gone. This seems so unfair that your age is against you. Someone ne...

What are the laws on sudefed. And are the states connected together ## Hello, Sanny! How are you? Due to the potential abuse factor and since Pseudoephedrine can be used to manufacture Meth, everyone can only purchase a small, limited quantity of it each month. They must sign for it and show identification at the pharmacy. And yes, it is a federal thing, so it applies to all states and your purchases are recorded in a central database kept by the government. Learn more Pseudoephedrine details here. What is the maximum/day my pcp can prescribe long term opiates without going to pain management. Specialists are expensive for me but not the medication. Im currently only getting 5 5mg oxycodone from pain management because old pcp wont mess with it. Thnks for help. Isnt up 80mg/day allowed? ## By Federal Law, Schedule II can be perscribed for a max of 90 days without seeing the dr. This applies to all drs. The dr can write 3 30 days rxs for s Schedule II. Although most won't because they don't make any money of they don't see the patient. Put state of ohio and schedule II restrictions in your search bar. That should give you the info regarding your state laws. Or you can go to the Ohio Board of Pharmacy website. ## New regulations were put in place last year restricting wh...

I went to see my doctor this week and he told me that the FDA and the DEA had passed a new law for prescribing Subutex. As of July 1st 2015 Subutex can only be given to pregnant woman or to someone with documentation saying they can't take Suboxone. If you don't have that you will be put on Suboxone. ## They Are Both the same thing. Better yet, stop doing narcotics, get off opiates completely. Do you focus on school and work as much as you do opiates being controlled By the DEA??? ## Jim, not that it's any of your business, but yes I do focus on my career now that I'm off the opiates and taking subutex. I received my B.S. in molecular biology and am currently completely my 2nd year of medical school. So now that you know a little about me, what about you? Since I'm s...

It is a oval pill not scored it is beige and has a small black crescent moon and the number 40 in black letters my brother in law said it is celexa ## Hi Tracey, I ran a google image search for Celexa, as well as Citalopram, the main ingredient. However, I couldn't find anything that matches the description you provided. Do you know where your brother in law got the pill from? If he has the packaging, there will most likely be some information about the pill's manufacturer that will help me to identify it for you. Please post back if you find any more information or have any more questions. Thank you.

Have the laws changed? I have been prescribed oxycodone 10 mg since 2009 by my family doctor because of spinal injuries and my new neurosurgeon says that new damage is not going to be helped by another surgery.. Do i now have to go strictly to a pain management doctor or can my family doctor still prescribe it? She told me that laws may be changing. ## It can vary from state to state, and within each state dependent upon state laws, it can vary from doctor to doctor. Thus, even if they can prescribe it, they may not want to do so, if it's for long term use, since that requires a lot more monitoring, and they do have to account to the government for each prescription they write for a controlled substance. Since many doctors dislike dealing with the extra burden, they send patients to...

Indiana just changed there laws and my doc says they are makeing them refer people like me to a clinc. I have took methadone for at least 5 years and prob. 10 years. Is Indiana really making them do this or is this just so my doc can be done with me? I hate hate hate are government and the control they have us under!!! ## Hello, Adam! How are you? Yes, new regulations were put in place last year that severely restrict what your regular doctor can prescribe, so you will have to go to a clinic. This is universal all over the U.S. It was done to try to get better control and stop increasing rates of improper prescribing and over prescribing. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## That is totally UNTRUE because I have been prescribed methadone and xanax from my doc who has his own pr...

Dr. ..l...y....l Director, Lawley Pharmaceuticals As you are quite aware of, these are brute, well documented facts: 1. You had always answered my questions in email about a purchase in hours until I sent you the payment. 2. From that point I received false, insulting emails only, that I had not paid, i.e. when I said I did, I was lying, trying to cheat. No sooner than two weeks after my full, exact payment landed on your account, as you acknowledged then, did you admit that the fault was on your side; blamed your bank. (Of course, I paid my bank for the remittance; 13% of my bill to you. You could see it on the record that I had to send you twice, first you ‘couldn't find it’.) 3. After more than six weeks of receiving the price, more than four weeks that you acknowledg...

Is it breaking any laws if I get pain killer from 2 different doctors ## Hello, Ace! How are you? It depends on the situation. For instance, if you were going to your regular doctor and received a prescription for 10mg Oxycodone tablets, then also went to another doctor and got another prescription for the same thing, it would be considered doctor hopping and is illegal. However, if you were prescribed something by your regular doctor and went to the ER due to some problem and received a prescription for something else, to make you comfortable, until you can see your doctor, then that wouldn't be. Or if your GP prescribed something mild for a few days, until you got into pain management and then that new doctor prescribes something different. But if you were deliberately doing it to...

If you or a loved one has ever taken the drug Pradaxa, please pay close attention to what I have to say because this may be the most important message you ever read. Recently the blood-thinning drug PRADAXA has been linked to life threatening and sometimes fatal internal bleeding and heart attacks. A new study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine has found that Pradaxa was “significantly associated with a higher risk†of heart attacks and acute coronary syndrome compared to similar blood thinning drugs. Over 500 cases of hemorrhaging have been reported to the FDA in the first quarter of 2011 alone. Since this drug was prescribed primarily to the elderly, the number of deaths and serious side effects are much more common among those 65 years or old...

I have been prescribed Suboxone for 6+ years after choosing to come off traditional opioid pain medications for chronic pain. I have also been prescribed Adderall for many years for ADD. My current physician (as well as others I have contacted who prescribe Suboxone in my area) is telling me that he cannot prescribe Suboxone for pain. He acknowledges that I have never abused drugs, but says that he "has" to put it on paper that he is treating me for opioid dependency. I am required to go to meetings. Now he is telling me that because of new laws in Alabama, he will no longer be able to prescribe my Klonopin. He has never given my Adderall which makes my life so much harder. He admitted when I last saw him that he would prescribe the Adderall if I were being treated with traditional

Hello I have learned that any pharmacy can lie and say that they're out of certain pain meds which is trifling because u then have to ride around town.... ## They all lie, it's common practice. They fill for who they want to. It's hard, but if and when you get them filled, try to stick with the same pharmacy and get established. Then it will be a lot easier. Keep pharmacy records...
