I've had sum very TERRIBLE effects from this pill from hell...theres several that are very alarming and ive read just a couple people on here mention it. but its concerning the brain/head/eyes. Also, this med has caused sum severe joint pain that I NEVER HAD BFORE! I have been on lyrica from the very beginning of release 12-01-05. I have major side effects taking 900mg a day, now having teeth loss. Has anyone else been having this problem? Please help. ## Within the past year I have undergone 5 root canals and 1 failed root canal that resulted in extraction. I have also been diagnosed as severely deficient in Vitamin D (18 of 35). This all came about after being on Lyrica a little over 1 year. I am interested in hearing other teeth related stories as we have spent over $8K in the past year trying to save the teeth I have. After 18 years of timely adult check-ups I found these problems all at once! ## Lyrica can cause or aggravate dental issues, as will a lot of medications if you are on them long-term. One of the primary reasons is that it causes ...

After taking this drug for nearly 5 years, I know that I must stop for the sake of my health. Some side-effects, I knew were the Lyrica: the muscle aches, weakness, bloating, extreme weight gain (35+ pounds, despite a very poor appetite and my IBD), and syncopal episodes. But I did not know that it might be the reason I lost more than half my natural teeth despite heroic and expensive efforts to save them; or that it might be the cause of sudden incredibly violent fantasies and impulses unlike any I'd ever had before. Or my skin problems, hair loss, intimate issues, and more. Until I saw postings about it in a support group for persons with Fibromyalgia. I am taking Lyrica for both epilepsy and fibromyalgia. Previous efforts to stop have resulted in both severe withdrawal symptoms a...

Since taking this drug for a week I have a mouth full of many lesions or canker sores can this be connected with this drug. It is quite severe the cancers or ulcers are the size of a Nicole each one and there must be over 10. Extremely sore. Salt water rinse every two hours and medicated numbing liquid like a mouth wash so I can eat once a day. Hello of a diet. Went off the meds for now. My mouth is just too sore ## Hi, Sherril! Sorry about how miserable you are, that's quite awful. From what I can find, it has been reported that Gabapentin can do this, though it is a very rare side effect. Have you consulted your doctor? There are other medications you can try that may not cause this problem, such as Lyrica. Learn more Lyrica details here. Sometimes one medication just doesn't ...

Does Ala Nerve cause allergic reactions? ## My mother who is 93 years old was prescribed Ala-Nerve for peripheral neuropathy but she does not suffer from diabetes, She has experienced severe rashes throughout her body which she attributed to allergy due to weather change (warm-cool changes - we are in the tropics) However after several months of taking 950 mg Ala-Nerve daily, her allergy has become quite severe despite realitively stable weather. She is also taking Lyrica and Neurobion for several years to relieve her postherpetic neuralgia. Initially her allergic rashes could be relieved by Claricort but lately her response to the medication has been very slow. ## ALAnerv is a nutritional supplement. The ingredients are listed as: α-lipoic acid 300 mg, polyunsaturated fatty ...

I ask because yesterday I went on a sail boat and to not get sea sick I took a meclinzine and another three hours later at about five pm my feet and half way up my lower legs were so swollen it was like pitted edema when I pushed it, it stayed indented and it started this swollen until about 1am. And I was just concerned if it was this is if it's the lyrica since it could swell my feet a little but nothing ever close to as bad as yesterday. Please let me know if you know anything. thank you. ## Hello, Sabbs! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened. You should have this checked out by your doctor, such severe edema can be dangerous, because it may lead to congestive heart failure. However, as to the medications, no I didn't find any problems listed between taking them...

Lyrica does work for myself. But I started having side effects. Double vision, being tired all the time, confusion, didn't even remember my age and that might be a good thing. But the drug is awesome for taking the nerve pain away. Just pay attention to side effects. ## Mu husband was on Lyrica for 30 days until he started experiencing severe side effects, i.e. dizziness, chest pain, weight gain, double vision, confusion, memory problems, tiredness. He was admitted into the hospital with the chest pain, in fear he was experiencing a heart attack. He has been off Lyrica for 3 weeks now and is still experiencing nausea and dizziness. How long did your symptoms last after discontinuing the med? He is getting very discouraged. Resa ## I had an orthopedic surgery on my ankle 8 months ago...

I am 85 tears of age and I have been taking Lyrica for at least 10 years. I was immediately prescribed 75 mg as treatment for severe Neauropathic pain in my lower leg I also had bone pain mainly in the Tibias, I had this particular pain for 30 to 40 years. When I started on the treatment it was dramatic, the pain went almost overnight, it was as if a magic wand was waved. As the years passed I noticed the effects gradually lessened, so the dosage was increased. I suffer with loss of balance and when it first happened I was diagnosed with Benign Postural Vertigo and was treated for that. Now a few days ago my GP increased my Lyrica dose and balance has become worse. It started me thinking and I realised that my dizziness coincided with my first taking Lyrica. So tomorrow I will be attend...

I was on Lyrica 75 mg for 14 days, 150 mg for 1 day. Had nausea, headache, drunk-like feeling. Doctor took me off after 15 days. The very first day off, I had the worst pain in my abdomin, nausea, bad headache & unable to eat. After 2 weeks doctor started me on Savella. It has been 5 days on it & I have not been able to eat anything but 1 - 2 bites of food a day. Nausea so bad I had to have my husband stop on the side of the road after 3 minutes of driving. My abdomin feels like I have been poisoned. I am waking up 15 times a night, while taking 10 mg of Ambien at night. Bad headache & severe fatigue. Diarreah for 4 weeks now. Anyone else have this? ## Have you contacted your doctor about this? While the nausea, sleep issues and vomiting can be normal side effects of both th...

I just got on Lyrica 50mg twice a day and my pain has pretty much dissapeared. I have been reading alot of really bad stories about it, but everyone seems to be taking much higher doses than i am, i was wondering if anyone knows if i stay on a low dose if i will have these horrible side effects i have read about ## Actually, the worse of the side effects should be experienced during the first month of us, they start to taper off and get less severe after that, except for in some rare cases. If you haven't had any really bad ones, so far, then you are probably doing okay with it and might only experience them if you have to increase your dosage. Also remember that medications affect different people in different ways, so you may never experience some of the problems that other people...

I'm suffering from severe spinal cord injury 15 years ago been through a lot of pain regiments considering taking lyrica not sure what it's like her anything would just like to know what people think if they've got the same problem I do with her back thanks Steve ## Hello, Steve! How are you? I am very sorry about your injury! Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant that can help with some types of never pain, due to the way it acts on the synapses in the brain. Thus, it doesn't work like a traditional analgesic, you will not get immediate relief, you have to take it for about 4 weeks, before you'll know whether or not it will work to help you. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I used to take high doses of narcotics for severe neuropathy pain. That crap almost killed me and destroyed my life, leaving me destitute and homeless. I had to move in with my sister, and then some friends to stay off the street. I have been taking lyrica for several years and it helped, even while on the narcotics. Since going off the narcotics, I have relied entirely on Lyrica to deal with the pain. My doctor changed my dosage about a month or so ago to 300mg twice a day and soon to 300mg three times a day. The difference has been amazing and the neuropathy pain is almost completely gone while the Lyrica is in effect. I do have some side effects though, like headaches, dizziness, sleepiness but I don't care. Anything is preferable to the pain, except for narcotics. ## Lyrica has ...

My doctor prescribed Lyrica for severe nerve pain in my upper left leg. My specialist told me the pain is cause by my diabetes. At first, in June 2015 I was taking 75 mg., but to no effect. I took 150 mg., but again to no effect. In mid-July my doctor increased my dosage to 300 mg. I started having seizures. I decreased the dosage over a couple of weeks and stopped taking Lyrica. I took no more Lyrica, after mid-August. It is now in December and the seizures persist. Will these ever go away? I don't particularly want to take other drugs that will also cause such side-effects. Thank you. ## Hello, Mitch! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. If you stopped it months ago, then it should not still be causing seizures. Have you consulted a neurologist? I have been taking Lyrica for several months now and have many side effects from this drug. I have gained 10-15lbs, have severe memory loss..simple word finding is difficult.. I have had major hair loss (clumps of hair falling out when wash my hair) and worst of all can not have orgasm because of this drug!!! I am titrating down now becuase side effects are not worth the minimal pain relief I am getting from this drug for fibromyalgia! ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? I am very sorry about the problems that you're having. Similar things have happened to others that have taken Lyrica. However, I do want to caution you to be very careful, when tapering off of it, because stopping abruptly could create the risk of seizures. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am a male who has ha...

I had been on 75mg of lyrica and 100gr of tramadol for about one year. I was mostly in severe pain due to a severed nerve that a lady dentist did to me in Canada. I was on 100mg of lyrica every 4 hrs. before that for only two months.but couldn't afford $350.00/mo the cost of lyrica. I started back on the 100mg of lyrica about 3 months ago. I have had now 4 bad side effects. 1. weight gain 2. bloated stomach -like I am 6 mo. pregnant 3. severe joint pain 4. muscle spasms mostly in right foot & gen. weakness ## Hi Evelin, I don't know what good it will do, but you can always report these side effects to the FDA's MedWatch program at: fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm If you're able to, I would also highly recommend consuming a lot more fruits and vegetables to help c...

The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant and what you've described can be normal side effects of it. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Linda, when I started Lyrica, I was frazzled with pain -couldn't eat much, broken sleep, no rest. I was at least 1/2 the time in bed with severe pain in my neck, skull, shoulder, & down my back to shoulder blades, pain in both hips so I couldn't sleep on my side, my preferred position, lumbar stenosis pain, sciatica - like numbness & tingling and pain in both ...

These are the side effects I have had: -nausea -diarhea -short of breath -problems sleeping -loss of appetite -started to be depressed -fatigue -numbness, tingling, crawling skin on my legs and arms I have stopped this poison 7 WEEKS ago and the side effect are slowly diminushing! It totally screwed up my summer. It was complete hell for me! The worst thing that makes it even more frustrating is that my physician and pharmacist do not believe that this drug can give these side effects for that long even after quiting. ## I quit a month ago, and I still have shortness of breath(air hunger), and severe itching, especially on my back. ## I feel like all meds are poison and I looked up some thin...

I'm wanting to hear from anyone who has winged off of lyrica after so many mths taking it. I have had it with the med. I've gained 35 lbs in 4 mths. I never gain wt. I have sever numbness in hands and feet and swolleness. It's scary! I ran out one time with out getting refill, though I'd just stop it and start another tx. Well very wrong. I got so sick. I was having withdrawels and I had to get back on it. At the time it was worth getting back on it quickly to feel better. Plus the other side effects hadn't kicked in yet and not so severely. I'm worried it will be difficult to get off of it. ## I took it for fibromyalgia. Although it did help my flareup tremendously. The side effects are too much. ## thanks Verwon that was the exact imformation I was looking for....

Is it necessary to wean off lyrica if having surgery in 1 month. Have been taking 75 mg for three weeks and will take til surgery. If necessary to wean off , what is recommended to wean off. Dr suggested she could not find anything that says I need to do that. Suggested I take I tIl surgery. Please help. ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? That is a fairly low dose and, if you take it until the time of your surgery, you shouldn't experience any severe withdrawal effects, so it is usually best to follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA does warn that there is a slight chance that stopping it suddenly may cause nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, diarrhea, and depression. Are you on any other medications? ## Hi thanks for your reply. I take many more meds including tradjenta fo...
