Lyrica Fibromyalgia

I was recently put on Lyrica for severe Fibromyalgia pain. It is a nice change from the narcotic pain medications I have been taking but the pain is still intense. Have any other FMS patients seen results from Lyrica? ## I have FMS as well as back pain and nerve pain in my ribcage. My dr seems to think that if we get the dosage hi enough that it will help the Fibro. So far I have no relief for my Fibro symptoms yet and I am on 400mg. Karel ## Lyrica is actually not approved for FMS, it is currently approved to treat Diabetic Neuropathy, it will only work for certain types of nerve pain. It is not a narcotic, nor an analgesic, so it will not work like they do for providing pain relief. To see any results, it also usuall takes at least a month with these types of meds. ## I am fully aware...

I was just given Lyrica for my Neuropathy and Fibromyalgia. I start it tonight and will keep posted on how it does for me. My doctor said it would not hurt any drugs I am now on, which is a lot. And the side effects would be sleepiness. ## My brother was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia and this is what they put him on. My wife and I are waiting to see what the results will be as we both have the same illnessand our appointments for our doctor isn't for a while. We will be waiting for your results along with his to see if this turns out to be the medication we've been looking for. Of course, we know that meds can work differently for different people. Good luck and God Bless! ## My Dr. Put me on Lyrica for nerve pain that runs across my back and down both legs. It makes me sleep...

I have suffered from all over body pains in muscles & joints for over a year. They have me on a cocktail of meds, none of which seem to assist, such as Cynbalta, Lyrica etc. I have also been on Synap-Forte which seems to assist with the pain the best, but now they want to remove it from the market. I'm at my wits end as this is the only med that really helps. The others just make me feel terrible & & cough like a sick dog when I take Lyrica. The doctors have diagnosed Fibromyalgia, but it seems far more. Can you advise me as this pain is belilitating me that all I do is stay in bed all day. ## I have Fibromyalgia, and most days, it seems as thought there HAS to be something worse going on. What are the best medications to treat fibromyalgia? I am always hurting somewhere on my body. Especially my back, knees, and hips. I am so exhausted. I wake up every morning feeling like I didn't sleep at all. My doctor gave gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day. They don't work and neither does lyrica. I am just so tired of the pain. I also have trouble walking when my knees, back and hips hurt. Any info you can give me would greatly appreciated. ## There is really no best medication that I can mention, it can vary from person to person. The medications you've mentioned you've mentioned are great examples, they don't work for you, but they do work well for many others that try them. The NIH states the some antidepressants can help, such as Cymbalta or Savella. Have you tr...

I have a great job and have worked at a police dept in Fla over 30 yrs unfortunately I can no longer work due to the pain and fatigue of fibromyalgia. I will be applying for disability but I need Lyrica, Morphine and anti depressant medication. I want to move to Elizabethton TN. Where will I be able to go for my medication where I can afford it and I won't be treated like a drug addict? I will have a limited income and I am alone. ## Contact Pfizer Pathways. If you are single and make less than $46,000 a year you can get Lyrica for free-- no matter where you live. ## are you on medicare and do you have a advantage plan? I have fibromyalgia and neurofibromatosis. I am taking Oxycodone and Neurontin. Any suggestions for something else? ## the biggest problem with neurontin is sometimes you will feel AND LOOK like you are drunk. also, they are in the process of changing the class. i believe it will b the same class as your oxycodone. i was put on lyrica some years ago and did not react well to it...i was a blubbering dumb mess. i cried all the time and was dumb as a box of rocks...a 5 yr old was smarter than me. i was diagnosed in 2005 for fibromyalgia, osteo-arthritis, failed lower back surgery and restless leg syndrome. i have been on oxycodone, oxymorphone, elavil (for nerve endings), requip (restless leg), zanaflex (occasional nauseau from oxymorphone), voltaren gel (also contains anti inflammatory fo...

Have tried Lyrica, Gabintin,Cymbalta,Prozac. Only Percocet with a little Valium seems to help a bit. That is starting to become ineffective.Cant exercise due to incompletely diagnosed back issues pending an MRI. What else can I do or try? I am losing mind from constant pain! Please help... ## Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, so it may be the Oxycodone that's helping you. It is available in higher doses in both regular and time released formulations, without the Acetaminophen. Have you ever asked your doctor about trying it? ## Sorry for not answering sooner. Forgot I o posted this thread! I guess it's the Fibro Fog. Anyway my dr won't go past the level of Percs unless I go to Pain Management dr. Tried that once & they treat everyone like junkies. I was prescribed Lyrica for fibromyalgia in 2009, 50 mg. twice a day, I took it for three years. It has messed up my life also. Stuttering, lack of memory, my gums hurt for a year, now my front teeth are crooked, and I've been referred to an orthodontist for braces. Really? I'm 63 years old! I'm afraid I'll lose my teeth as some of you have. I STOPPED taking it a year and a half ago on my own. Since I've read all of your problems, now I know why, it's the Lyrica. I had depression, was on anti-depressants. It also caused me to have cateracts, and each eye hemorrhaged one month after the surgery of each eye. I've had blurry vision since, it moves around in my eye like a cloud! We need an attorney that will represent all of us NOW! I even called the FDA. No one ...

Hi, I've learned a lot from other people's experiences on this site over the last few years and wanted to share my experiences with something that comes up on here from time to time, and I hope that I can somehow help out somebody out there wondering. I live in socal (south of LA), and have been taking Lyrica (pregabalin) for fibromyalgia and migraines for about six or seven years now, and it would not be exaggerating to say that it has really changed my life. It's an incredible product, and the only thing I've tried after ten or fifteen years of doctors trying me on everything and mosf things they tried either not doing anything or else just making things worse. With no generic alternative available in the US, I have to pay $217 every time I pick up a refill (28 pills p...

I was put on Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain and after about a week of starting, I developed seizures, was in a coma for 6 days, and almost died. Anyone else have similar experience? ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant, so it would be more likely to do that if you missed a dose, after taking it for awhile. There is also a chance that your seizure was unrelated to the medication. What did the doctors say caused it?

I have nerve damage, shingles, fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, the list goes on and on! I can't have Lyrica, Cymbalta, or Gabapentin. They are not approved , and they continue to reject the approval no matter how many request are submitted. What can I do? ## I am sorry, who is that is not approving them for you? Your insurance company?? You are not very specific in your post, so it is a little confusion. If they are claiming that these drugs are not approved to treat these types of conditions, then that is incorrect because both Cymbalta and Lyrica are approved by the FDA to treat post-herpetic neuralgia. If you can give me an idea of the type of insurance you have, I can try to research their formulary to see what they will cover for you, so you can discuss other opti...

I have had major hair loss (clumps of hair falling out when wash my hair) and worst of all can not have orgasm because of this drug!!! I am very sorry about the problems that you're having. Similar things have happened to others that have taken Lyrica. However, I do want to caution you to be very careful, when tapering off of it, because stopping abruptly could create the risk of seizures. I've been taking 75mg Lyrica three times a day for peripheral neuropathy and fibromyalgia pain but it's not quite enough. Would it be ok to take it four times a day? ## Hello, Teresa! How are you? No, 3 times a day is the maximum dosing schedule, but you could speak to your doctor about raising your dosage to 100mgs. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?
