Lyrica Bad Side Effects

I am so upset about the Lyrica of 900 mg that I was on for six weeks. It has destroyed my life. I nearly killed myself, my husband and possibly people on the road because I became a missile behind the wheel of a car. I stop taking it immediately and following that I had the feeling of shards of glass in my feet which pain management did not explain nor address! I suffered from the second week of February and have become bed-bound since. It has gone from shards of glass to plantar fasciitis and now they are telling me that I have and trapped nerves in my feet. I cannot walk I am waiting on taking a test to specify exactly what nerve is entrapped. Lyrica has ruined my life. It wasn't bad enough with the pain from my back injury. I only took Lyrica for 2 weeks. The weight gain was bad. I lost 1/3 of my hair in 4 months. I have had a rash for over 1 year now. I mean a bad rash. This was my first side effect. And they warn you of this. Get off Lyrica asap if you get a rash. I thought I was having a stroke the first week on Lyrica when they rushed me to the hospital. I had read on the internet of how many young people have died from strokes from taking Lyrica. I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have, although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not know when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I have read the messages here and have decided not to use the Fentanyl. I have just got prescribed to lyrica from my doctor for going through withdrawals off of xanax.Is this a good idea? ## Hello, T man! How are you? Lyrica is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. It would seen your doctor prescribed it to try to help alleviate some of the typical issues that can occur, when stopping a benzodiazepine, including the possible risk of seizures that doing so can cause. Mood swings and anxiety are also possibilities. Is it helping?

Hello, I am 55 and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the age of 32. I also have ddd,scoliosis, bulging disc and the list goes on. Due to circumstances, I have on and off Lyrica 3 times. I am seeing all these posts about side effects and I am truly sorry for all that have to go through all of this. Before I was on Lyrica, I had memory glitches, brain fog, and dizziness, and have been one of the lucky ones I guess, because I have never had suicidal thoughts, except twice and that's because I mixed whiskey with the lyrica and my husband and I got into it. I had horrible sides effects with Lyrica. Anxiety Attacks, Panic Attacks, Rapid Pulse, Suicidal thoughts, Pressure Headaches, Thought I was finally going crazy. I have Sjogrens syndrome/polymositis/diabetic neuropathy and carpal tunnel as well as a shoulder injury. You might well imagine that I have been through every available prescription drug for chronic pain. I have recently slowly gotten off opiates and am taking lyrica and cymbalta. The diabetic neuropathy pain has almost completely disappeared. The muscle and joint pain is much better. I do havwever have somnolence and a sort of spaced out feeling. I am hoping that this is a transitional side affect. I just started taking Lyrica 3 days ago. Can't wait to see if it works. I have degenerative disc disease and scolisos. I have some really bad sciatic pain from my left knee down to and including my ankle. Last night as I was tossing and turning in bed my leg moved and I heard/felt a popping noise followed by extreme pain not like the sciatica. It felt like my shin bone had broken but it is not painful to touch so must not be broken. Should I take percocet or Lyrica for this new pain? I have the percocet left over from the knee scope on left knee which did not have sciatic pain prior to the scope. The knee meniscus is now bone on bone. I ask because yesterday I went on a sail boat and to not get sea sick I took a meclinzine and another three hours later at about five pm my feet and half way up my lower legs were so swollen it was like pitted edema when I pushed it, it stayed indented and it started this swollen until about 1am. And I was just concerned if it was this is if it's the lyrica since it could swell my feet a little but nothing ever close to as bad as yesterday. I started taking Lyrica for chronic nerve pain that causes a pick axe stabbing in my ear and pain in my jaw. Initially, I did gain weight (12 pounds to be exact) but have been losing it with diet and exercise. I am just 6 pounds from my orignal weight. What distresses me is that over the past few days, my stomah looks as if I swallowed a bowling ball. I had three hernia repairs and on the third, the surgeon put in a mesh. It has its own problems, but my stomach has even worse bloating than it did before the hernia surgery. I have never experienced my stomach as bad as it is right now. I've been on LYRICA for almost a month, it was kind of a last resort for me. I have had chronic back/nerve pain (unknown cause) for 20 months now. Neurosurgeon and Orthopedic both say surgery is not an option. They recommended a spinal cord stumulator but im weary of it. LYRICA has given me energy and I sleep better. I cook and clean and laundry gets done...that hasn't happened since before pain started. I feel more positive but my moods change quickly. I was on Lyrica 75 mg for 14 days, 150 mg for 1 day. Had nausea, headache, drunk-like feeling. Doctor took me off after 15 days. The very first day off, I had the worst pain in my abdomin, nausea, bad headache & unable to eat. After 2 weeks doctor started me on Savella. It has been 5 days on it & I have not been able to eat anything but 1 - 2 bites of food a day. Nausea so bad I had to have my husband stop on the side of the road after 3 minutes of driving. My abdomin feels like I have been poisoned. I am waking up 15 times a night, while taking 10 mg of Ambien at night. Bad headache & severe fatigue. Diarreah for 4 weeks now. I just got on Lyrica 50mg twice a day and my pain has pretty much dissapeared. I have been reading alot of really bad stories about it, but everyone seems to be taking much higher doses than i am, i was wondering if anyone knows if i stay on a low dose if i will have these horrible side effects i have read about ## Actually, the worse of the side effects should be experienced during the first month of us, they start to taper off and get less severe after that, except for in some rare cases. If you haven't had any really bad ones, so far, then you are probably doing okay with it and might only experience them if you have to increase your dosage. I have been suffering from pain in my legs for yrs, and now it's pretty much all over. It ranges from a dull ache in my bones, sore achy muscles, feeling of something poking or biting me in various places just out of the blue. I have been taking Lyrica about six months. I have been taking other meds for pain. I have stopped taking the pain RX Tramadol. I still have memory problems, but I started this week taking just one Lyrica ( I was taking two a day 75 mg). ## THE FDA WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT THE BAD EXPERIENCES WITH LYRICA. FDA.gov/Safety/MedWatch ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant and the FDA does warn that some medications in this class are well known to cause memory issues.
