I have been taking losartan 50 mg a day, but divided in the morning and night. As my dr noticed side effects, I was later prescribed 25 mg. It has been 10 days but I have serious cramps in my legs when I'm jogging or walking. I'll consult with my dr... My bp is 120/80. Is there another medicine that will lower my bp but with less side effects than losartan? Or can I take half of 25mg one time a day? ## I am taking this drug as well with the same side affects. I was on 50 mg for a few years and my doctor increased it to 100 mg because my bp was still high. I now have high resting heart rate and I am feeling dizzy often. I was prescibed 100mg/25HCTZ of Losartan. I have been taking 5mg/6.5HCTZ of Ziac. I was concerned that the Doc started me off with such a high dose of 100 mg of Losartan when the internet says the starting dose is 50mg. My BP went up hovering around 140/90 while on the Ziac. I got this generic drug from WalMart last year manufactured by Merck. It was amazing. Then they switched to same generic drug manufactured by TEVA Pharmaceutical (from white oval shaped pills in a bottle to little green pills in cardboard package), and they didn't do a darn thing.
