100 mg of Losartan
I was prescibed 100mg/25HCTZ of Losartan. I have been taking 5mg/6.5HCTZ of Ziac. I was concerned that the Doc started me off with such a high dose of 100 mg of Losartan when the internet says the starting dose is 50mg. My BP went up hovering around 140/90 while on the Ziac. Any thoughts? ## Hi Charlie, I'm sure your doctor only prescribed what he thought would benefit you, however it is your body and if you are not comfortable with the dosage you should definitely speak with him. He may have prescribed you a larger dose to compete with the Ziac that could still be lingering in your system. In regards to your blood pressure raising while on Ziac, I can't find any information that says high blood pressure is a side effect of the medication since that is what it's supposed to ... ...

Losartan Tab 100mg
I was taking Benicar tab 40mg my pharmacist sent me Losartan tab 100mg. Is that the equivalent or could this be a mistake? ## No, it is not the same medication. Benicar contains Olmesartan, so the Losartan is in the same class, but it is a different drug. Have you contacted them about it? Since they are in the same class, they work the same way, but such a switch shouldn't be made, without your doctors approval. ...

ingredients of this drug including all the fillers, etcl ## I'm sorry, but since you didn't specify a manufacturer, I can't tell you what the particular fillers/inactive ingredients are. This is a generic for Cozaar, so it is made by several different companies and the inactive ingredients can vary. The active ingredient is the Losartan, which is an ARB that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach pain. Learn more: Can you post back with more details, such as the manufacturer or markings on the pills? ## I am experiencing a rash on my torso and wonder if it is becing caused by my generic hydrochlorothiazide losartan - 25 mg. with ZD19. Losartan Hctz 100 25 Mg
My first perscription for Losartan/HCTZ 100-25mg last month the pill was teardrop and yellow. I just had it refilled and the pill is retanguler, white, and has ZD 19 stamped on it. I think the pharmacy made a mistake. I have not taken them. Please advise!!!!!!! ## No, they haven't made a mistake, this tablet also contains 100mgs of Losartan and 25mgs of Hydrochlorothiazide, which are commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. It is common for a pharmacy to switch, depending on whatever company is offering the cheapest price, at the time they have to restock their supply. It's how they keep their prices as low as possible, for their customers that don't have insurance. Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different ... ...

Losartan Hct Tab 100 25
Taking stress echocardiogram this AM & was wondering withholding taking medication until after procedure. Please advise. Thanks! ## I can see this post was from a few days ago, however, for future reference, in such cases, unless your doctor instructs you to skip the doses of certain medications, before a procedure, you should take them all, as you normally do. Losartan with Hydrochlorothiazide is commonly used to help control high blood pressure and to treat some cardiac conditions and missing a dosage of it, or several doses, could cause rebound effects, which may put you in danger and/or affect the results of these types of tests. How did the test go? ## i have been taking losartan/hct tab 100-25 for about a year. i have been having pain in both legs, tireness, legs feel heavy. I... ...

Should I take tylnol, Advil, Alive or Asprin for body akes? ## Hello, LT! How are you? If you are taking it to lower your blood pressure, then it's very likely that you need to refrain from taking the NSAIDs, such as Advil, Aleve or Aspirin, because they can actually cause blood pressure elevation. You need to check with your doctor to make sure of which is safest for you, but it's likely that you need to stick with just Tylenol. ## Have been taking one Losartan /hct 100-12.5 every morning for about 4 months. I take blood pressure readings in the morning, noon & evening. My readings are almost always above 150/85. About one month ago my doctor also put me on atenolol 50MG to be taken one in the morning & one in the evening. I haven't noticed any improvement! The last ... ...

Losartan Hctz Tab 100 25 Ap
my Losartan hctz tab 100/25 ap are yellow oval, i just want to make sure they are the right pills ## I can't really provide you with a definitive answer, without knowing the markings on the tablets, since that is what enables us to identify them for you. However, there are several oval, yellow tablets on the market that contain this dosage of Losartan and Hydrochlorthiazide. Some of the markings are: 93 7368 (The 93 may have been changed to the word TEVA) APO 100 25 M43 LU E 49 and there are several others. Do any of these match the tablets in question? ## I take Losartan/hctz yellow oval tabs number on it is 1118 Pharmex 2009 copyright These do not cause me to cough I am trying to find a pharmacy in Surprise, AZ that carries these. ## Carol, I'm sorry, but we have no way of kno... ...

Losartan/hctz
I have been taking the 100/25 pale yellow tablet mfg by TEVA. My pharmacist claims they cannot get the tablet due to formulation problems at the mfg. I have been taking a green tablet 100mg Losartan along with a separate HCTZ tablet mag by IVAX. I have broken out in hives and itching. This is not the same formulation I was taking before. Going back to the Dr tomorrow. Has there been a report about this before? ## It certainly sounds like you may be allergic to something in one of the tablets. And yes, unfortunately, there has been a shortage. It was reported by all manufacturers a few months ago and was supposed to be resolved in a short period of time, but this obviously has not happened. They've also not provided any explanation for the shortage. It would probably be best to talk ... ...

Losartan Hctz
What is the difference between losartan/hctz 100/12.5, white Pill, #1117 blank on other side and hyzar 100/12.5?? ## Both of the pills in question are one in the same drug. The only difference I noticed is that they are different brands/generics manufactured by different companies. Because of this, there may be a slight variation of inactive ingredients; but other than that you can be assured that they are the same drug and same dosage. Certain "inactive" ingredients that may or may not be present in each brand, are actually detrimental to how the drug is metabolized and used by your body. Because everyone is different, your body may respond favorably with one medication and not the other, due to how you feel or based on whatever side effects present themselves. NOTE: Whenever y... ...

Losartan 100mg side effects
My grandma is taking losartan 100mg OD. She accidentally took the medication twice a day. Which stressed us. What is the effect of this medication to my grandma's hypertension/condition? She doesn't feel anything unusual though. ## Hello, Val! How are you and how is your grandmother doing? Have you checked her blood pressure? It could cause it to drop too low and to develop a low heart rate, though if she's not feeling sick or dizzy, then she's likely fine. However, you should check with her doctor to be safe. ...

Losartan Potassiumg 100mg Tab
My pressure is up 135/102 this evening can I take another losartan ## No, Losartan is not a medication that will work to rapidly lower your blood pressure in such situations. It is a drug that must be taken regularly for several weeks, in order for it to reach its effectiveness level in your body. Learn more Losartan details here. Have you been exercising or doing a lot of activity just before taking your blood pressure reading? Had you been drinking anything with caffeine in it? How much sodium was in your meals for the day and the past few days? All of these things I asked about could possibly cause the type of elevation your seeing. What you need to do is contact your doctor and let them know, the 135 isn't a major concern, but the 102 is high and needs to be addressed, regardles... ...

Diovan 160 Mg Vs Losartan 100 25
Are the ingredients in Diovan 160 mg and Losartan 100-25 mg comparable if I run out of one can I switch to other? ## Hi Elaine, As far as comparing these drugs, I think it's not wise to assume that they have similar properties, since everyone can react differently to one or the other, despite having an equivalent dosage. If you're used to taking one or the other and have your doctors permission, I'd say it's fine to switch off between the two. However, at the same time I wouldn't necessarily anticipate having the same relief or results from two entirely different medications. On a side note: Eating whole foods that have little to no sodium and which are high in potassium and magnesium are solid dietary options for lowering blood pressure. These foods primarily includ... ...

At this time, it is very important that you do so, because while it could be due to a side effect of the medication, there are also other possibilities, such as dehydration from the Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic. ## i did talk to my doctor n he said he doesn,t see the connection between the hip pain n thye new med.however i'm still locked in to thyat becausr it started with in 12 hours afterb taking this med.i had been on diovan/hct for about 5 years and no proble... ...
