I have been taking medicines for BP. The medicines is changed from one to another like Ramipril 5mg, Losarton Sodium 50mg, Telmisartan 40 mg, etc. I want to know is there any problem in changing the medicines or one should I stick with only one medicines. I have been taking branded COZAAR for several years. Recently, my GP switched me over to generic version of Losartan Potassium. The side effects I am experiencing is unbearable. Where or who should I write to restore my medication to the Branded one? ## If it is your doctor that is writing the prescription for the generic, then that is who you will have to speak to and ask them to write it for the brand, instead. There is a place on the prescription where he can right or check off the phrase 'brand medically necessary.' and then that is what the pharmacy has to dispense. There can be some variations from the name brand to the generic, since the FDA does allow a difference, in the active ingredient, of up to plus or minus 20%, which they consider an acceptable therapeutic window....

I've been taking 100mg daily for three years. Seems to be working and dealing with most died effects I.e. Dizziness, fatigue etc. by taking the pill before bed so sleep through half a days worth of issue. I've tried several other meds that I could not tolerate so I've wanted to stick with losartan. The issue is that for the past 18 months the pharmacy continues to give me a large white pill from another manufacturer but I keep requesting the green oval pill. When I think the issue is finally resolved I found myself back at square one with them again. It's exhausting to hear them say we can try to special order,will mark your file. I have been taking losartan 50 mg a day, but divided in the morning and night. As my dr noticed side effects, I was later prescribed 25 mg. It has been 10 days but I have serious cramps in my legs when I'm jogging or walking. I'll consult with my dr... My bp is 120/80. Thanks to your web site, I was able to identify the white round one with 572 is in fact Losartan 25mg.
