My son is 5 months old weighting 5 Kg. He is suffering from a cough and cold and he was given Ofloxacin suspension (Brand Name: NEOF) and no improvement after 4 days also. Is it a better medicine for cough and cold? Please advise me on the issue. ## Ofloxacin is in a class of antibiotics known as Quinolone Antibiotics. These antibiotics have been banned in the United States for children for their potential to cause tendon, cartilage, joint and muscle problems and the FDA found that these problems were too risky to give this drug to growing children. It would be prudent to ask your doctor for an alternative antibiotic to any of the Quinolones, as it is simply too risky to give them to children. In addition, this is an antibiotic, and antibiotics are only useful for bacterial infections. ...

Can diphenhydramine 50mg be used for cold and cough? ## Hello, Stephanie! How are you? It is an antihistamine, so it may help a little, but it will not do anything to eradicate the cold itself, that just has to run its course. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness and dry mouth. They also have a version specifically to help with cold symptoms that contains additional ingredients. Are you on any other medications? ## Not for the cold, but for diabetes and hypertension.

Hi... I am suffering from fever since yesterday night. What type of antibiotics can I take for fevers, cold and cough? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Some illnesses, such as cold, or flu are caused by viruses, rather than bacteria, so antibiotics will not help. The NIH lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. I have been on Eliquis for DVT for 6 mo and still need to be on it. Recently I have had a cold and coughed so hard it hurt my abdomen. Noticed kind of a hard bulge on Thursday. This morning I woke up and my abdomen is bruised and my side (Which I sleep on) Also is bruised. It's painful to touch but has been for a week or two, but bruising is new. I see the doc on Monday (today is Saturday) is this an urgent care or emergency room type of symptom or can I wait til Monday? ## I would suggest seeing a doctor in urgent care, if you can. While easy bruising can be a typical side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA, the hard bulge is not normal and you should have that checked out to be sure. Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

Can dilaudid help with a severe cough with chest pain. How much and can it be taken with alkaselter.if so would he be able to take it before work.thanks ## Hello, Diana! How are you? Dilaudid is a very potent narcotic, so it shouldn't be taken and mixed with other medications, unless his doctor has specifically said that it's okay to do so. But yes, it could help with the pain, I'm not sure about the cough. However, a doctor should also check out the chest pain to make sure that there isn't something serious going on. Is there anything else I can help with?
