My doctor told me to start on the first day of my period. On d pack the first pill say Sunday on top. If my period start on a Monday should i take the first pill on the pack that said Sunday or take the second pill that said Monday ## take the first pill on the first day of your period. the box the pill pack came in should have come with a list of drug facts and directions and such, and also with that should be stickers with the days of the week on them. so just peel off the one with Monday at the beginning (far left), and put that sticker over the days of the week at the top of the pack. That way you can keep track of what day of the pack you're on.

birth control ## How do I take Loestrin24 fe? ## Take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor, if they did not provide you with enough details, then please speak with your pharmacist. ## how long does it take for loestrin24fe to work, like how long do I have to wait before I can safely have intercourse? ## Generally, you should finish the entire first cycle, before enough is in your system to adequately protect against pregnancy, once you reach the end of the pill pack, where you on the period week pills, then you are fully protected, but be careful not to miss any. One white tablet should be taken daily for 24 consecutive days followed by one brown tablet daily for 4 consecutive days. Withdrawal bleeding should usually occur within three days following discontinuation of white tablets ...

I am 33 and started lo loestrin fe as my first contraceptive pill. I was very happy for first three weeks, then I missed my period and started having severe headache and body ache/discomfort. I stopped sleeping...only 2-3 hrs a day at the most. All this while I never missed a pill, had a ph reminder set for early morning. I was concerned about missed period so consulted my gyn who asked me to continue the same. For the next cycle I did get very light period but the pain never stopped and by the end of second month I started having radiating pain in my back, shoulders and head. Finally the pain started radiating to my left arm..that's when my gyn asked me to stop the pill although the sleeplessness continued for almost two weeks after stopping the pill. In the mean time, I was tested...

does this cause added weight gain or acne ## Hello, Kris! How are you? Those are both possible side effects of any hormonal contraceptive, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, irregular bleeding and bloating. And please make sure not to miss taking any of the active tablets, because that will increase your risk of pregnancy. Are there any other questions or concerns?

This morning when I meant to take my third blue pill in the pack, it was i couldn't see so I accidentally had my pack upside down and instead took the second white pill that i should take at the end of the pack. When i realized what i did i took the correct blue pill immediately, but now i will only have one white pill when the time comes to take it at the end of the month. Is it okay to take only one white pill and then have three days of placebo, one where i just don't take any pill? Or is it okay to skip the last 4 pills altogether and just start my new pack right after my last blue one? Which option will not decrease the effectiveness of the pill? ## Hello, Anna! How are you? Sorry about what happened. If your doctor approves, you should be able to do whichever option works ...

I am getting ready to start a pack of Lo Loestrin FE, I am not due to have a cycle in about 2 weeks. If I start the pack on Sunday as directed will I start my period early? I noticed some have experienced spotting when first starting or it brought on a period. I thought the blue pills is whats stops your period. Thanks :-) ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is possible to experience some breakthrough bleeding, when you start taking them. It's just a side effect of your body adjusting to the hormones. Breakthrough bleeding can include light spotting or a full flow similar to a period. This can happen for as long as the first 3 months. If you start them on the first day of your next period, they would prevent ovulation and you'll be immediately protected from pregna...

I am 16 and in my first month of taking loestrin. i have been sick to my stomach on and off every day since i started. I only at the end of my first week and am considering stopping especially after reading about the side effects of others. How long does nausousness last? ## Hi, Nan! Sorry about the nausea that you're experiencing. However, it's difficult to say how long it will last, because it can vary from person to person, but side effects to hormonal contraceptives like this may linger for as long as 2 to 3 months, while your body is adjusting to it. Nausea and the other side effects you've read about are possible with any form of hormonal contraception, including the patches, shots and IUD. The best thing to do would be to contact your doctor to discuss your concerns, ...

How long do I have to take Lo Loestrin Fe before it's effective for PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)? I just started taking it today and I would like to know what to expect. ## Unfortunately, there is really no way to give a definitive response, it can vary from person to person. Some have a great response the first month, but for others it may take several months. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, and PMS-like symptoms. Have you experienced any improvements, yet?

Hi Just started on Lo Loestrin Fe and got my period on time (perfect) but now it wont go off. Just when I think that its over I begin to bleed (not too heavy but not too light either). I have been bleeding now for seven days and my period normally last only four. The blood now is a light pink to light red color! I read to give it at least three packs. Has this happened to anyone else? ## This break through bleeding can be completely normal, and just as you read, it can last for the first 3 months that you are taking it, while your body adjusts to the hormones. Hi, I started taking lo loestrin on the first day of my period as instructed. Then, my period ended about two days after taking the first pill. It is very abnormal for me to have a period this short. Is this normal when you start taking this pill? I know it shortens your period after taking it for a while, but could it have really effected my cycle after only taking 2 pills? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? Yes, it is possible. The sudden elevation of hormones it can cause has been known to do that, once your body gets used to it, things should normalize. You may experience irregularities for about 3 months, or so. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Loestrine Fe for over 2 years and have had spotting about every few months. A few days ago I had a very strong flowing period, which concerned me because I am not supposed to have any periods anymore. Also when I have a bowel movement I have blood in it. It doesn't hurt but it has happened three times now. Why is this happening? ## Hello, Diane! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having. Anyone taking oral contraceptives, even a woman who's past menopause, may have periods, due to the hormones in them. Thus, whoever told you that was wrong. The estrogen in them causes the tissues to built up on the uterine wall and the progesterone is what stabilizes them, once it falls off, you experience your period. Thus, even if someone were...

This is the first month I started taking the Lo Loestrin Fe. It is a "21 day" pack. so I just finished my third week or 21st day yesterday. Should I be getting my period today or within the week? When do I start my new pack? I am especially concerned about when I should start the new pack if I don't start my period. I don't want to go too many days without taking it. ## as soon as you've finished the last pill in your pack you should start the next pack ## Hello, Tina! How are you? You should start the new pack on the 29th day, so you don't take any pills for a week. You should get your period within 2 or 3 days of finishing the active pills. Got period on Monday. Went to OBGYN to start BC...Thursday. Insert says to start on the first day of period, but can I start taking it today? Should I start on Sunday? Should I wait until my next period? ## You can actually start it at any time, but if it is later than the 2nd day of your period, you'll need to wait a full 7 days for it to become effective at preventing pregnancy, which means no unprotected intercourse until the 8th day. If you start it the first or second day of your period, it will become immediately effective and no additional protection is needed. Is there anything else I can help with?

After my favorite OC, Loestrin 24 Fe was discontinued my doctor has prescribed Minastrin 24 Fe. My body did not respond well to it at all (acne, weight gain, mood swings)... After trying a few other OC's and reading so many reviews on how great Loestrin 24 Fe was compared to Minastrin and others I thought if we got enough people to vote to bring Loestin 24 Fe back, maybe the company would consider it.... It is a shot in the dark but definitely worth taking... Respond if you would like to see Loestrin 24 Fe back on the market.
