Can I use purbac when I'm on antiretroviarl treatment and having abscess on armpits? ## Hi Michael, I did some research and I read that a high incidence of side-effects occurs in "immunocompromised" patients. Such as: those suffering from Aids or patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy. The adverse effects can include skin rash, recurrent fever, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia and raised liver enzyme values. WIth that being said, this may not be a safe medication for you to take. It is used as a sleep aid as well, and Alcohol will amplify the effects of it. While taking the recommended dose (25-50mg), you'll just get buzzed quicker and fall asleep faster. ## It's not good for your liver to drink on them

These are much safer than prior HIV combination therapy medications. Less liver and kidney toxicity and less bone calcium catabolism causing osteomalacia. Also, another choice for those that can't tolerate other anti HIV meds. It's once a day and we are blessed to finally get to this point.
