Livalo Pitavastatin Calcium

Pitavastatin (usually as a calcium salt) is a member of the blood cholesterol lowering medication class of statins.[1] Like other statins, it is an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the enzyme that catalyses the first step of cholesterol synthesis. It was patented in 1987 and approved for medical use in 2003.[2] It is available in Japan, South Korea and in India.[3] In the US, it received FDA approval in 2009.[4] Kowa Pharmaceutica...

I have been taking Livalo since March 2013. It is now September 2013, and I am having the following problems from it: 1. General muscle weakness 2. pain in hips, knees, ankles and feet 3. Memory loss/mood changes 4. stomach problems (tightness, gas) for which the doctors can find no other physical cause. These symptoms took a while, after I started taking Livalo, to manifest. But in the last four weeks have showed up like gangbusters. I had told my cardiologist when he prescribed them that statins have always caused me problems and that I had not taken any for 2-3 year because of that. He was insistent that I take it, saying the Livalo didn't cause as many problems as other statins. Well, after being through most of the statins over the last 10 year (and finding problems with all of...

I need discount coupons for Livalo ## If you don't have prescription insurance coverage, the manufacturer does have a program to help with this, under their Lilly Cares Foundation Patient Assistance Program. You can call them for more information at 800-545-6962. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

is there a generic pill for livalo? ## Information I've gathered states the following: A generic version of Livalo (pitavastatin) is not available. This medication is protected by patents and exclusivity rights that prevent a generic version of the drug from being manufactured in the United States. The earliest predictable date that a generic Livalo product could become available is in May or June 2015, after the first patent expires. NOTE: Pitavastatin is the active ingredient in Livalo, but it is not a generic version of it. Once the drug goes off-patent, there may be several companies that manufacture a generic Livalo drug. I hope this information helps!

My spouse was prescribed Livalo to lower cholesterol. The cholesterol response was positive. The Total Cholesterol went from an average of 238 to an average of 160. Mission accomplished but ....... My spouse spent the worst 6 months of her life enduring a baffling array of maladies. The various side-effects progressed with time and did not seem to have a relationship with the drug. Kinda' a "creeping blunder" type of response. The first indications of "change" in her quality of life were: -Insomnia -Fatigue -Loss of Zest -Aching Then some new conditions appeared: -Dry, Itching Skin -Dry, Crusty Eyes -Darkening Urine At the fifth month: -Burping -Gas -Pronounced Pain Under Rib Cage on right Side -Reflux type symptoms One Day: -Pain in Stomach Below Rib Cage that was a...
