Lithium High

I take 5 mg of altace (ramipril) daily for high bp. Can I take lithium orotate along with the Altace for depression? ## Hello, Nick! How are you? No, the Lithium really shouldn't be taken with an ACE inhibitor, because they tend to increase its toxicity, which may be dangerous. Has your doctor prescribed them both for you? What other antidepressants have you tried? ## Ok thanks. I'm not currently taking any antidepressants but heard very good things about lithium orotate. I have tried ssri's in the past and they don't seem to help.

Hi my mom had been using lithium with Thyronorm 50 mcg since the report of Anti tpo nd Tsh were so high than the range also my mom felt like the part below stomach aren't working so properly and she feels tired so doctor suggested to take valporate instead of lithium nd now she feels more sleepy nd passes most of her time by sleeping nd the problem of the muscles below stomach also increasing I m so scared

I have been treated for bipolar 2 for 3 yrs and have been on several different meds (lamictal,lithium,abilify,seraquel and a few others). Recently went into my pdoc (I'm on 300mg lamictal, 150mg seraquel and mentally doing the best ever). But, I've gained almost 30 lbs since being on seraquel which has now become a deal breaker. My pdoc put me on topomax for weight loss 3 days ago. Any experience with topomax causing weightloss even while remaining on seraquel? (Side note: avid exerciser, high intensity, and follow a south beach diet, strict). I had a gastric bypass in 2001. I am on a higher dose of Cymbalta. Does anyone know if the absorption of this medication altered by gastric bypass? ## Most medications are, but to be certain, I would recommend checking with your doctor or pharmacist, they will be the only ones who can give you a definite answer on that in relation to the dosage you are on. ## I had Gastric bypass some years ago. My friend went to urgent care and they called her and said she tested positive for lithium. She doesn't take lithium but is on trazodone, seroquel, depakote, prozac, amitriptyline, minipress, chantix and gabapentin. ## I don't know of a drug that tests positive for lithium, but there is a particular vial used for collecting blood samples that has a green cap and contains lithium and heparin. (It keeps blood from clotting, which is sometimes important.) A demonstration of this was done using volunteers who had never taken any psychiatric drugs. In the vials the lithium/heparin, volunteers' Lithium levels were as high as 4 mmol/L.
