Lisinop Grapefruit

Are there food restrictions such as grapefruit when taking lisinopril? ## can eating grapefruit or juice react with this drug? ## I have checked several sources and there is nothing listed about there being a problem combining the two. ## I'm confused, I've read several different things about drug interactions with lisinopril. My concern is dieutics, and possassium. Can you still take them when taking Lisinopril? ## I worked in health care for years & was never told of an interaction. My husband LOVES grapefruit but has started taking Lisinopril & had severe pains, shortness of breath, & spikeing blood pressure, sweating & vomiting. Lisinopril and grapefruit interaction? ## Grapefruit can decrease the proper metabolism of many drugs, and therefore decrease/or almost cancel out the effect of this drug on the body (in this case with lisinopril ..blood pressure may not be properly decreased to the full effectiveness it should be at) Do not take grapefruit/juice at the same time. I would wait 2-4 hours after administration of medication to avoid an interaction, if you MUST have grapefruit. Safest is to just switch to a different fruit! Drinking grapefruit juice while on lisinopril. ## I did not see Lisinopril on a list of possible grapefruit juice interactions [1]. Can I eat 1/2 of a grapefruit daily while taking lisinop/hctz? I have done it once with no side effects. Thank you ## There are no problems listed between taking this medication and Grapefruit or its byproducts, but you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Such an interaction wouldn't necessarily cause something you'd notice as side effects, what it usually does is have a detrimental effect on the efficacy of the medication, so some drugs may not work as well, or some may even be intensified.

can you eat grapefruit with this medication ## I did not find grapefruit listed as having an interaction with either Lisinopril or Hydrochlorothiazide.
