Lipitor Withdrawal

I stopped taking Lipitor, 40 mg daily, a week ago and am now experiencing some dizziness and my equilibrium seems effected. Are these effects to be expected? I'm currently waiting for my refill through express-scripts , but have yet to receive it. How long before muscle aches and weakness subside after discontinuing Lipitor ## Had been on 10mg for 4 years. recently after muscle ache issues I discontinued Lipitor. 3 weeks into it I still have weakness in limbs. Never experienced the muscle weakness symptom while on it. ## From what I was able to gather patients experience symtoms for weeks after discontinuing Lipitor. I stopped lipitor on orders from a specialist... and now have a very itchy rash. Is it related? ## Frustrated, According to the National Institute of Health Lipitor contains the active ingredient atorvastatin, which is a drug used to lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol. It does warn that some of the side effects of lipitor are different types of rashes that will occur throughout the cycle of using the drug. Some of these rashes will go away on their own but some are actual quite dangerous and should be looked at. I have been on Lipitor for about a year and am experiencing muscle tenderness in legs and arms - once reading other side effects, I do have other symptoms - anyway - I want to stop ---- do I have to wean myself off the drug - I want to try diet and natural remedies before needing to do drugs - doc really did not give me a choice - 247 was total but good was very high - ## I stopped my Lipitor on Jan 13 08 because I saw it causes Joint pains and Tendenitis and Having Fibromyalgia I stopped taking it. I went off Lipitor at Dr's recommendation as the diarrhea was getting worse. ( been on it approx 3 yrs. The diarrhea after two weeks off , continues ...is even worse,.how long can I expect this...it is affecting my whole life.....of course during all this we are having remodeling done ( baths!!!!!) and my mother- in _law just died. ## Hello, Lass! How are you? I'm so sorry about the problem that you're having. Are you certain that the diarrhea was caused by the Lipitor? Did you doctor do any tests or checking? After 2 weeks, it would be unusual for it to still be causing the diarrhea, but everyone is different, so it is a possibility. Are you on any other medications? Have you experienced any other withdrawal effects, such as headache or chills, that the FDA lists?

Never in my life have I experienced this degree of discomfort, not to mention the danger of straining at the stool associated with acute coronary MI or stroke.While on Kapidex I felt profoundly depressed.
