Put on statins in 2009 (first Zocor, then Lipitor). In June 2012 had severe episode of heart palpitations and chest tightness (ended up in ER). Had EKG, chest x-ray, blood tests -- all normal. But chest tightness, lightheadedness and fatigue symptoms continued for days. After cardiologist visit (including stress test) found no problems with heart, returned to regular doctor for more blood work. Found nothing... Then based on my own online research I found my symptoms matched up with Lipitor side effects. Stopped Lipitor first week of July... chest tightness and fatigue symptoms are now gone but lightheadedness continues. After more online research, I have begun taking CoQ10 and Milk Thistle this week. No improvement yet. Anyone with similar experiences? How long does it take for the bod...

I started on Pristiq ER 50mg and also Lipitor 10mg a month ago and saw the doctor at that time. She listened to my heart rate which was fine. The Pristiq has been working very well and I have even lost 5 pounds; had gained about 40 pounds on Cymbalta. So about a week and a half ago I noticed that my pulse rate was irregular which could have started before I noticed it. I got very light-headed at work. I went to ER the other night and my heart rhythm was going in and out of bigeminy which is a normal beat followed by a premature ventricular beat. I just wore a Holter Monitor for 24 hours. Lab work was ok and I need to see a Cardiologist. I have never had this before and am just wondering if anyone else had had some symptoms like this. I have to see my regular doctor tomorrow and am not t...

My doctor recently prescribed Lipitor for me. I took 2 pills and had such a bad reaction I stopped it at once. I felt so spaced out that things did not appear normal. I can remember small things, like hearing my daughters voice but did not know what she said. Seems like some loss of memory and functions. I have been taking lipitor for about five years, and my last annual physical showed I am now pre-diabetic. I have an older sister, who was diagnosed with diabetes last year, and she had been taking lipitor for many years. There is no history of diabetes in my family, on either side, so I am very concerned that Lipitor is causing the problem. My doctor says I need to stay on the medication, that if I quit taking it, my cholesterol levels will peak. Right now I am in the low-normal range. In reading the studies on-line, it says if you quit taking Lipitor, there is a chance of getting a stroke. Nevertheless, I am determined to go off the Lipitor. Has anyone else done this, and can it be done gradually without side effects? ## Hi Maggie, I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience ...

I heard about a man who said that he thinks Lipitor made his wife get memory loss. Is this true as I think I have the same thing ## Me too, my memory loss just keeps getting worse ## That is not a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, but there is no way to be sure how any given medication will actually affect anyone that takes it, since we are all different. Its typical ones are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Has there been any change? Have you each consulted the prescribing doctors to see if there is another option you can try?
