Light Period

This is my 3rd month on tri sprintec and I'm having a light period. I already contacted my doctor and the nurse said my body is getting use to the pill also I took two pregnancy test and they were negative. Now I am having severe back pain and can't hardly move. My mom things I hurt when I took my boyfriends Christmas down and carried the box upstairs a few days ago. She has had 5 kids and doesn't think I'm pregnant. Do you think the back pain is unrelated to the light period? ## Hello, Ayla! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The back pain could be due to cramping caused by the hormones in the oral contraceptive, or it may be due to the exertion of taking down the tree, only your doctor can let you know for sure, but cramping while on OCs is a common si...

I am finishing my 3rd pack of Tri Sprintec and I notice today, when I should be on my period, I am having light bleeding. Before I was on Sprintec my period started on the 4th white pill in the morning. Since I began Tri Sprintec it starts in the afternoon. I am only bleeding lightly today. Could I be pregnant or is my body still adjusting to the new pills? I haven't missed a pill at all. ## Hi ayla, From what I could gather, irregular bleeding and/or menstrual periods (relative to the time frame that you're used to experiencing such symptoms) are reported to be general side effects of Norgestimate + Ethinyl Estradiol - the two key components in Tri Sprintec. So if you haven't missed any pills at all, my opinion is that you probably don't need to be too concerned about t...

I have just started Tri Sprintec. I am on the last week (white pills) of my first pack and I started my period today (June 12) and it is really light. Should I be worried or is it suppose to be light? I'm confused. ## There are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is normal for them to cause menstrual irregularities, it could be lighter, or heavier than normal, you may also skip altogether. I just started Loestrin24 and I have been taking it all month. I've been bleeding lightly most days (I've taken it almost 4 weeks now). Is this normal? Also, my period is supposed to come during the time I am taking the brown pills... right? So why did it come three days before even starting the brown pills. I'm really nervous... is any of this a reason to call the doctor? ## By all means, if you have concerns, call your doctor. However, this is a hormonal based contraceptive, so the types of symptoms you're experiencing are normal and can continue for the first 3 months that you're taking them. Learn more:

So I haven't had a period for a while and I had to stop birth control and I was wondering is it OK to have a light period and short one? ## Hi maria, Based on what I've seen other women post here (including my fiancé), a short period doesn't appear to be too uncommon and in most general cases shouldn't spark up any concerns; especially after coming off something like birth control - which alters your hormones and therefore has an impact on your menstrual cycle (since the two are directly related in many ways). So if you ask me, my opinion is that everything should normalize as the body begins to adjust to not having the added hormones from contraceptives. However, it may just be another month before you have a chance to see the difference as things gradually level o...

i had the jadelle put in about a few months ago my first period lasted for about 10 days, but this one has lasted me two weeks it was light in the middle but then got real heavy again, plus ive become a complete super b**** and, is it still settling? is it normal? ## Hello, Renee! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problems that you're having. And yes, such side effects can be normal, while your body is adjusting to the hormones in the Jadelle. It may take a few months for things to balance back out and be more normal. However, if the bleeding gets heavier, it would be best to consult your doctor to be sure that all is well. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have had a tubligation so.I don't believe I am pregnant. For 3 weeks I had a "brown" period but it was not enough to need anything more than.a pantie liner. 4 days ago I started what seemed to be my normal period but lighter than normal. I usually only have cramps for.the first 24 hours. This time I am having severe cramps and it hasn't gone away nor have I stopped bleeding ## Hello, Mary! How are you? The brown is usually old blood that hasn't been passed during prior cycles. With it going on for weeks and then the severe cramping, it sounds like you may have had a sudden hormonal shift. Have you consulted your doctor? You should do so to have things checked out.

Hi,iv been using nustrate for like 3 years now and suddenly I'm experiencin period pains and when I check I'm on them but they look brownish, and its 4 the 1st tym.wat myt b da problem? ## Hello, Confused! How are you doing? The pain/cramping can happen at any point in your life, if your hormone levels fluctuate. Generally, brown blood is old blood that wasn't fully eliminated during your last cycle, so it's being cleaned out during this one. Have they been lighter than usual? That frequently causes it. Have you consulted your doctor? Having them check things out would be the best idea.

Sometimes the hormones that are in contraceptives can stop your period or give you a lighter flow. You should call your doctor and let him know.

I switched from a different type of pill to Minastrin this month. This is Saturday at the end of my first pack and I have had no period at all. Is this common with this pill? I know it supposed to make period lighter, but I need some kind of indication every month that I'm not pregnant! ## Hello, Matilda! How are you? If you haven't missed any pills, then there shouldn't be any reason to worry about being pregnant and yes, some women don't have periods, while taking oral contraceptives. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, bloating and weight gain. If you really aren't comfortable skipping your period, then you might need to switch, again. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been taking Lo Loestrin for 3 months and i just started my 4th pack. I haven't have any weird side effects besides minor bleeding in between periods. But on my last pack i took the 2 white pills to start my cycle, and i had some spotting on fri & sat as if it was gonna come.... but forgot to take the 2 brown pills and my period just stopped and has not come down. Whats going on?? ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so skipping your period, or only having a very light one can be a normal side effect of them. However, if you have concerns, you should contact your doctor to ask them. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Hi, I am 27. My period is missing for 7 months now. Doctor told me it's ok up to 6 months after Mercilon contraception pills. I've...

I have been taking Lomedia 24fe for 6 months, have never missed a pill and take at same time every day. I always had a light period before taking the pill and had spotting when taking the brown pills for the first 4 months but have not had a period the past two months. Is it normal to stop having a period while taking Lomedia 24fe? Pregancy tests are negative. ## I've also been exactly on lomedia for 6 months. This month I didn't get a period, haven't missed a pill at all. I'll be taking a pregnancy test, though I have no signs of pregnancy. It's kind of freaking me out too! ## Hello, Annabelle and Suzanne! How are both of you ladies? Yes, some women don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. If you're worried, please consult your respective doctors...

i recently had a baby back in june. when i finished the bleeding i started my first pack of lo loestrin. i am now on my 3rd and a half pack my periods started regulating to the 8th of every month. september 8th i got my period and september 23 i started bleeding again, light spotting every day just enough to wear a liner it is now the 30th and is still going on.. this hasnt happened the previous months. the first month i started it bled for over two weeks similar to everyone else's posts..is this normal and its a shame i cant even get checked due to losing my heath insurance. ## Hello, Nik! How are you? Congrats on the baby! :-) Spotting can happen, when you're taking oral contraceptives. They are hormonal based. Have you had your next cycle? Did the spotting stop? That's us...

I started sprintec in October and my obgyn told me that as it regulates my period it should make it so that I shouldn't have my period on the weekends. How true is that for other people? Like for example my last period ended on Saturday but eventually I think it's supposed to end on Friday. Does it actually do this? Any stories? Thanks! ## I'm sorry, I am not sure why your doctor told you that, because there is no way to guarantee that will happen. There is a chance that taking an oral contraceptive will make your menstrual cycle lighter and shorter, but that's not something that happens to everyone that takes it and there's no way to make sure that's how it works for you. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Are you sure that's what they said?

I got my period last month first 2days where heavy like normal the last3 where super light this month im on my day4 of sugar pill still no period im cramping like my period is post to br coming on my period tracker says im post to start my period on the the 13th which is when i take my active pill could i be pregnant since it hasn't come on wit the sugar pill ## If you haven't missed any active pills, then pregnancy is not very likely, but if you're concerned, then you should have yourself checked to be sure. Some women stop getting periods, while taking oral contraceptives, or occasionally skip and it's generally nothing to worry about. As to the period tracker, it seems like it's not factored in that you're taking this oral contraceptive, because once you'r...

Am on the Klion d 100 and after the 8th day i start seeing some blood coming from the vagina,I thought it was my period but am worried as it lasted for 4 days,it is light and is pink in colour,I also don't feel the pain i normally feel when am on my period. Can you advice me as to what maybe the possible cause of this ## Hello, Mel! How are you doing? Some breakthrough bleeding can occur, when you first start using hormonal contraceptives, because your body has to get used to the hormones that are in them. Have you consulted your doctor? You should do so to be certain, but it's most likely nothing to worry about.

Hi! I've been taking minastrin 24e for the past 4 months or so now. I started getting a normal period and then a light one last month but I didn't get any period at all this month. I didn't take my sugar pills because I was told by my gyno I didn't need to so not sure if that has antything to do with it. I take my pills usually in the morning but not perfectly at the same time every day. And this past month I missed one pill so I simply took two in the morning the next day. My boyfriend and I do not use condoms but he does pull out. Is my missed period normal or could it be pregnancy? I've started my new pack for the month so I want to check. The only pregnancy type symptom I've experienced is having to go to the bathroom a lot but that has been an ongoing proble...

I've never missed a pill & take them within a few hrs diff a day every so often when it has slipped my mind. ( have a phn reminder now). Anyway, I've never had a bc where I've missed a period. I have been spotting very lightly to where a thin pad/liner will do the job. I've been cranky & bloating & cramping like always but have had no real bleeding. I don't think I'm prego but I am concerned. Everything I've been reading is talking ab where girl's are bleeding like crazy & I'm hvn the opposite effect. I mean, it's kinda nice not really hvn a period this month but should I be concerned? Also, does anyone hv to pee a lot on this? I mean fo...

Okay, I've been taking Tri Sprintec for about 6 months after being switched from Gianvi (generic Yaz.. bad, bad stuff). Anyway, I used to start the Gianvi pack on Wednesday and I never got my period on the weekend. Now I need to move my Tri Sprintect start to Monday, will it hurt anything to skip the last few white pills? Will there be bleeding?? ## Hi Georgie, Based on my research, the white pills in the Tri Sprintec pack are placebo/sugar pills- therefore it shouldn't hurt to skip the pills. However, since you're very slightly reprogramming your body in a way by switching the start date there may be some light spotting. Also, because birth control is hormonal based and hormones are very sensitive and react differently in everyone, there's no surefire way to know how yo...
