MY DR SND INSURANCE CO, SAY THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR LEXAPRO..I READ ONLINE THAT ESIPRAM OR EXIPRAM IS THE GENERIC FOR LEXAPRO MADE BY SAME COMPANY...WHAT IS GOING ON..IS IT REALLY AVAILABLE IN THE USA..LEXAPRO DOES NOT GO OF PATENT TIL 2012 ## Escitalopram is the active ingredient in Lexapro, which is traditionally used as the name for the generic medication when it is available, however, your insurance company and doctor are correct, it is NOT available, yet. ## Esipram does exist! I've used it before and it is just as effective as Lexapro. Its definately available in Australia.
