Please help ## Since you have already stopped the Lexamil, and you're experiencing the weight gain, and bloating, over a month after, it is most likely unrelated to the medication. Ref: Lexamil Information Has anything else changed in your lifestyle, or eating habits, recently? It could also be a natural change due to aging, our bodies do change with time. Are you on any other medications?

I was prescribed Lexamil 5mg and I took 1 on the 11.11.2010 before reading the prescription note. I am feeling so overweight, and my bowel movement is totally altered. How long does the effects last? Alternatively how do I reverse this? ## Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an antidepressant. Yes, many of them can cause some weight gain, however, taking on pill is not enough to have that effect. It may have caused some bloating and intestinal upset, however, these are normal side effects and should wear off in a few weeks as your body adjusts to the medication. There is also no way to reverse it, other than to just stop taking it for awhile. Have you spoken to your doctor about this? ## I have been on Lexamil for about 18 months now and I struggle terribly with m...

I have depression and severe anxiety attacks that happens in the mornings. Dr prescribed Lexamil 5mg for the first 10 days and thereafter 10mg together with Urbanol 10mg to be taken together in the mornings. An hour after taking these meds I get very nauseous and have no appetite. My pharmacist said that I should not take these meds together. Dr said I must take it as she prescribed it. You help will be appreciated! ## Hello, Cora! How are you? I'm sorry about the nausea. It may be due to taking them at the same time, which could be what the pharmacist meant. Have you tried taking them with food or a small snack, rather than on an empty stomach? That can sometimes help prevent nausea. The FDA warns that Urbanol carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, su...

Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, sexual dysfunction and weight gain. ## I've been on Lexamil for four days now. Found that it is making a difference. I have been on Lexamil 20mg for about 2 months now (started at 5mg and increased slowly) and unless I take it with Aterax at night then I battle to fall asleep. I also find that I have vivid dreams that leave me exhausted in the morning. Lexamil has made me feel better except for this. Should these side effects stop if I take the Lexamil in the morning? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram and some doctors do direct it to be taken at night, since it can cause drowsiness as a side effect, but some people do much better taking it in the morning. When is the last time the dosage was increased? That may also have something to do with the side effects, as it can take several weeks for them to start to taper off and it's natural to...

My dr. put me on lexamil 20mg a day for a month with alzam 0.5mg (3 x a day). No refill prescription. I have 6 lexamil pills left and a lot of alzam as i only took 1 morning and 1 at bedtime. Is this combination safe? And how do i ween myself of this safely? ## This type of combination is often prescribed for those suffering from depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. The main caveat, however, is that the FDA warns that Alzam/Alprazolam does carry the risk of being habit forming, but that is generally with long term, regular use. That said, if you've only been taking it for a month, a weaning shouldn't be required, unless your doctor feels it is necessary. Have you consulted them? Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking Cipralex/Lexamil 20mg for a number of years and would like to come off them. I am currently taking one every other day. I would like a tapering off plan as I am not sure how long it takes to come off them? I know its gradual but is it weeks or months? Thank you ## just keep slowly reducing you intake of the med. for each decrease in the amount of the dose say you want to go from 20 to 10, you will have to take about one to two months slowly decreasing the frequency when you take it. say you start with one day for two weeks then two days and so on until you get it down to taking only 5mg once a week then cut that in half and taper that off for about a month and then just stop altogether. I did that when i was taking 1000mg of oxycontin a day. it takes awhile but it doe...

1. I am taking 10mg Lexamil and 5mg Desodene at night, together. Is it safe or would it be better take the two separately at different times during the day? 2. What is the best time to take Lexamil; does one need to 'sleep it off'? I would appreciate some assistance. ## Hi Belle, From what I could gather, there are no drug interactions listed between either of those two medications; so you should be fine taking them together at night as you have been. As far as when to take Lexamil, the dosing guidelines state that the usual adult dose is 10mgs taken orally once a day, in the morning OR evening, with or without food. So I don't think there's any discrepancy on when it is best taken. Have you just not been responding to it well in the evening hours? You can learn more abo...
