Can levothyroxin 200 cause weight loss ## Levothyroxine is used to treat thyroid disorders, it is not intended to be used as an aid to weight loss. I am allergic to the dye in the 112mcg Synthroid tablets. Does anyone know of a 112mcg that is white??? Levothyroxine ? I am now taking 2 pills on 5 days and 3 pills on 2 days. 50mcg each. ## I am allergic to the dye as well, and should be on 112 mcg. too. I like your idea of 2 pills (white..50 mcg.) for 5 days, and 3 pills for 2 days. So glad you posted your idea. Splitting the pills just doesn't work. If any Manufactures are reading this, please refrain from putting dyes in meds!!! Serious side effects can result, and the dyes make it difficult for some of us to take the proper dosage amounts that are prescribed. ## Your pharmacy should be able to provide you with a dye free option, though they may have to order a supply in for you, so it is best to make sure to alert them to the ...

Is there anyone out there that has had a good experience with this medicine. Also does it always cause hair loss. It was just prescribed for me yesterday but I'm afraid to take it after reading about it. ## I've been taking Levothyroxine for 6 years now and I've had a great experience with this medicine. Have you had surgery to remove one or more of the parathyroids. You have a total of 4 parathyroids and one or more could have turned into benign tumors (adenomas). If you're still having symptoms then there is still something wrong.

Why can"t I eat an hour before an after I take my medication ? Levothyroxin 50 MCG ## Hi Trudi, According to Livestrong.com, "consumption of levothyroxine with certain foods can significantly reduce its absorption. Thyroid hormones levels will be decreased if you take your medication with foods such as soybean flour, cotton seed meal, walnuts, dietary fiber, calcium or calcium fortified juices. These foods should be avoided within several hours of taking your medication. In addition, thyroid hormone levels may be increased if you fast while on this medication. To avoid such fluctuations, levothyroxine should be administered on a consistent schedule, with regard to time of day and relation to meals." I also know from personal experience that some medications can cause nausea/...

im on 50mg of levotyroxine still feel like crap, still heavy, will it all change ## How long have you been taking it? Most medications require 4 to 6 weeks to reach their full effectiveness in the body and not all of them work for everyone that tries them, thus there is really no way to say whether or not this will change for you. You can usually tell, when you've hit this point, because that is also when any side effects you're experiencing will be most severe, such as nausea, drowsiness and dizziness, then they will start to taper off in severity. Have you consulted your doctor?

How are you doing? If they are taking blood samples regularly to check your thyroid levels, it is completely normal for your doctor to adjust the dosage accordingly. oval, beige, pill, GG337 ## ive been taking levothyroxine for 3 months and i was drinking water regular now ive been taking thyroxine sodium and i cant get enough water please explain the differences thank you derrek ## There aren't really any severe differences, they are both thyroid hormones, given to supplement those are are deficient. However, your body can react differently to differenct medications, so while on one medication you may not experience a lot of side effects, but a switch to a new drug, even in the same class, might result in more severe side effects. Is you continue to experience problems, you should probably consult your doctor, this may not be the right medication for you. I think this medication is preventing me from losing the weight....any answers out there? ## Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? The weight gain may be due to your Thyroid problem itself, a natural part of aging or the medication, so it is difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. Thus, a consult with your doctor is really necessary to try and get to the root of the problem. ## well let me tell you that my doctor also prescribed me the same medication because supposely i had a thyroid problem wish it make me go from 125lbs to 175lbs i gain weight like crazy and everytime i commented...

I have taken this medication for about eight weeks and have experienced some changes. First, hair loss and since I have nice hair, this is a worry. I have very little appetite and I was thin to begin with. I am 82 and wonder if these changes will persist. Also, I don't sleep well, but that is often true of aging. I would appreciate answers. I am going back for another blood test to see where my thyroid count is now. ## Go to tpa-uk.org.uk/ this is an excellent web sight and has many answers. There is always someone there to support you. Hope you get well. ## As to the hair loss, yes, it most likely will persist. It is generally an ongoing issue, when taking this medication. I've been taking Levothyroxine 150 mcg (hypothyroidism) for the past ten years. Up until a month and half ago my doctor increased my medication to 2 mg. I'm noticing a high volume of hair loss, does this ever stop? Will the hair loss issue, subside? Very concerned. ## Unfortunately, hair loss is a normal side effect of this medication and, while not everyone experiences it, it usually does not subside, most people do experience it as long as they continue to take the medication. It tends to be a more severe problem at higher dosages, so it may abate if your dosage is lowered in the future, but there is really no way to say with any certainty, since everyone is different. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? ## It does stop after awhile on it and your body adjusts to th...

I've been taking it for almost 2 weeks and get nauseated and don't have an appetite. ## Have you consulted your doctor?
