I have bipolar disorder and have been on almost everything for it, was taking depakote and Saphris which worked great but I gained a ton of weight so doc switched me to lamotrigine because it’s weight neutral. Starting off at 25mg/day and working up to 300mg/day. Gradually by the time I got up to 100 in the morning and 150 at nite I had a RELENTLESS bronchial cough that wouldn’t respond to any kind of treatment, that became so violent that I would start vomiting until everything was completely gone from my stomach. I don’t actually feel sick at all I just have this obnoxious never ending cough that ends in throwing up. Also had lost my voice. Now I have gone all the way back down the dosing schedule and am just getting ready to go completely off of it. Tomorrow will be...

Pending a formal diagnosis (one psychiatrist felt I was low-level bipolar, my current psychiatrist feels I have a severe mood disorder involving extreme lows and highs, but without the delusions associated with bipolar). I have recently been put on a course of lamotrigine - starting on 25mg a day and now on 100mg per day. Initially I felt it had really worked in balancing out my moods. In particular my tendency to engage in risky behaviors (drugs, alcohol and extreme promiscuity) have definitely lessened. However, in the past two weeks my feelings of self-loathing, insecurity and resentment of others have crept back in. Some days I feel utter dread and on two occasions I have been on the verge of tears for no discernible reason. Similarly, my short fuse has returned. I snap at people ar...

Alcohol with epitec: I take 25mg Epitec twice daily. Can I consume a glass of wine on special occasions although I am taking Epitec? ## Drinking alcohol while taking Epitec is not recommended. This medication is reported to contain the active ingredient Lamotrigine, which acts as a central nervous system depressant (as does alcohol). If you really did want a glass of wine then it is highly recommended that you check with your prescribing physician first since they are familiar with your full medical history. While it may be okay to drink a single glass of wine (moderation), it is best not to take a chance without knowing if you are specifically at risk for an interaction. how soon can you present with a reaction to lamectal, blistered on lip and rash all over only started 2.5days ago taking 1/2 of a 25mg tablet ## I will assume that you are talking about Lamictal (spelling correction) Please seek medical attention ASAP: "Lamotrigine prescribing information has a black box warning about life threatening skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis.[9] The manufacturer states that nearly all cases appear in the first 2 to 8 weeks of therapy and if medication is suddenly stopped then resumed at the normal dosage. Patients should seek medical attention for any unexpected skin rash as its presence is an indication of a possible serious or even deadly side effect of the drug. Not all rashes that occur while taking lamot...

I have been taking Epitec 25mg for almost 2 weeks now and am due to start the 50mg soon. I am reluctant to do so as I have not been sleeping well since I started using using them and also have a slight headache all the time, further more I feel quite aggressive. Please tell me whether this is normal or should I discontinue to use them? regards ## Epitec contains the active ingredient Lamotrigine, this is an anticonvulsant that is also used as a mood stabilizer. The symptoms you listed are all normal side effects, you may also experience: nausea, nightmares and mouth ulcers. I was diagnosed with meningioma 5yrs ago and became epileptic thereafter. I was prescribed Tegretol 400mg twice a day for depression & I'm taking Brintellix 20mg + Cilift (citalopram) 20mg that I've just been prescribed along with Lamictin (lamotrigine) 25mg. This is the first time Costco mail order pharmacy has sent me these pills, the previous ones I have been taking for five years were also a generic but I do not remember their color but think they were two colors, one color was white and I believe the other was green.
